  • Ford Puma - Ford Puma 2020 5 Mar 2020 (Forum)
The electric motor on the Puma is designed to boost low down torque. This car will be covering a fair variety of driving conditions and we’re expecting it to cover c20k miles a year so I’ll let you know how the economy goes. I know there was a thread here recently questioning the point of hybrids, this mild version might be the answer.
  • From The Indie - M62 learner driver ‘supervised only by parrot’ 28 Jan 2014 (Forum)
important;">Ch Insp Mark Bownass said: “The rules of the road exist for a very good reason and it is important to remember that if this lady had been in a crash or incident, she would not have been covered by insurance as she was not licensed for the journey.” "Learner drivers should not be on the motorway at all and anyone who takes to other roads as a learner must be accompanied by a qualified driver, have a good understanding of the Highway Code and also make sure they are covered by the qualified drivers insurance policy."
  • SEAT Toledo III (2005 - ) - 07 2.0D Economy is poor. 2 Sep 2008 (Forum)
He has checked the fuel computer and is convinced its accurate, i assume by brimming and comparing. Seat have had the car back and can find nothing wrong, but they do say that a customer who bought the sister vehicle to my friends is complaining of his fuel consumption too. I assure you my friend knows how to drive economically and well, and with all his previous cars (Bora diesel last) he has easily beaten the published economy figures.
  • Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - Good VW service! 3 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I was packing my wife's August 2005 Golf for a trip to Scotland when I noticed that the boot seemed damp, actually it was soaking under the spare wheel cover. Back from holiday I contacted the supplying dealer, Isaac Agnew Belfast, if I am allowed to say that. No problem they replied, bring it in next week and would you like a courtesy car as we need two days to check and repair leaks.
  • Value from warranty. 30 May 2008 (Forum)
I wondered if anyone else here had taken advantage of hyundai's or any other makers high mileage standard cover, and what had their experiences been.
  • Ford Focus - Up in smoke.... Some advice please 28 May 2015 (Forum)
The car had 8080 miles on it when he purchased it from the Main Ford Dealers, he covered less than 200 miles in it during the 3 weeks he owned it. The dealers are telling him to claim on his insurance who are offering him £2900 less than he paid for the car.
  • SEAT Alhambra - Return car 27 Aug 2024 (Forum)
The timing chain has gone, so the engines had it.  I believe i am covered for 6 months from purchase to have a full refund?
  • Possible Replacements 27 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Could be facing a large bill on my car of £1000 or a bit more, and may be further repairs and therefore are considering whether to replace car. Car is a focus sized saloon car, has a diesel engine which produces just over 150BHP and has 147,000 miles on clock, is elven years old and averages 47 mpg, and covers 11,000 miles a year If replacing it I would like to have something of the same size ,power, and fuel costs.
  • Car on SORN, how to tax it 25 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Got a car on SORN ready to go back on the road, not worth a busting lot so only need 3rd party cover, but do need to tax it at the start of next month. I can drive it legally on my everyday car policy 3rd party clause (as this car is not registered to me) but have I got to insure it separately just to buy a tax disc?
  • Vauxhall - Car attacked by bird! 26 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Specifically, a wagtail - Motacilla capensis Ther little bleeder must have a nest somewhere in the garden, and has taken to attacking his potential rival (ie himself!!!) in the side mirrors of my car. In his excited state, he also poos everywhere, so the sides of the car and mirror housings are covered in putrid yellow muck, and the mirrors themselves and side wndows have a blurred appearance where he beats himself against the glass.
  • Company Car Tax Guide 8 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Hi Room I am considering taking up the company car option with my new job. I havent had a company car since the law was changed basing it on price & co2. I am expecting to cover 20,000 miles per year and will also have a fuel card. Question ; I need to do my homework to ensure the extra tax I will pay will still be less than the reidual value loss and other costs associated with owning my own car.
  • Volvo service advice 20 Jun 2002 (Forum)
It had 11,000 miles on the clock and prior to me taking delivery it had been through the Volvo used car check which appears to be pretty comprehensive. The car had belonged to a Volvo dealer as a demonstrator and had been serviced in late August 2001 having covered 8,000 miles. I have no issues with the car at all, it is superb and appears to have been well looked after.
  • Used-car warranties 31 Oct 2001 (Forum)
I guess the key thing is whether it omits items that other schemes cover. I can't go into such details here, but would be grateful for any insights into this whole scene. The renewal quotation is £469, which seems a lot at first sight, but perhaps is not unreasonable considering the car and the fact that the cost is only £9 a week for peace of mind.
  • Honda Civic 1.0 SR - First impressions 9 May 2019 (Forum)
The feature lines of the dashboard bear little relation to the feature lines on the door. They appear as if they are from different cars. The flimsy boot cargo cover is a joke. What most reviewers seem to have missed is that the side sliding bit only covers half the opening over the boot. The rest is covered by a Heath Robinson nylon affair attached to the hatchback lid itself.
  • Vauxhall Astra GTC - Dealership Help 22 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Hi, Just looking some advice I own a 2016 Vauxhall Astra VXR, and I've got a issued with my passenger seat it's reclined and won't go back up, these cars have Recaro  performance seats which are a nightmare to fix most common is handles break at the back but this isn't my issue. I had a local garage look at it and once they opened the lever side of the seat they said that's over their head needs to go to Vauxhall so it's booked in for next Wednesday,  I've owned the car for two years and it's out of warranty but I do pay big money for a extended warranty which does state won't cover interior or upholstery.
  • Hyundai i20 - i20 Clutch Fail! 8 Sep 2015 (Forum)
They're now telling me that the £80 was quoted by a call centre operator, not the garage, and wouldn't cover the necessary work to visually inspect the clutch. The dealer now wants me to authorise £450 odd worth of work to take the gearbox and clutch out and replace if necessary. Same old story, I've driven cars for 10 years, with many more miles on the clock than this, without any clutch issues.
  • Chevrolet, - Captiva crankshaft? 1 Oct 2012 (Forum)
The garage eventually got round to looking at it yesterday and have called to say that the engine is done, something has went wrong with the crank shaft and I will need a new engine!!! The car has only done 68000 miles, i bought it from arnold clark and they are a chevrolet dealer.  A new engine would cost £8000 and they couldn't source a recon one.  I had bought autocare cover which is rubbish, they will cover to fix the engine if repairable but only up to £2000.
  • 2004 vw golf mk 4 gt tdi - paint blisters 24 Jul 2011 (Forum)
They accepted the front wing was through corrosion, and offered me 70% towards the cost of repair, even though the warrenty is supposed to cover this! There excuse was had it been serviced at vw, they would have noticed the covering under the wheel arch was rubbing against the inner arch and therefore fixed it. They said the  rear arches was due to stone chips.
  • how best to insure ?? 11 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Have not had a claim for over 15 years ?? Is there a policy to get the Shogun covered as a kind of Classic ? it only needs to be TPFT or even 3rd party only ..
  • Advice re "Warranties"/After Sales 4 Dec 2006 (Forum)
As I live and work some distance from the dealership, it is not naturally convenient to get to them. Where do I stand here ? If it is not covered by the warranty (which it doesn't appear to be, having had the pleasure of having to read through the small print) then should the dealership rectify the niggles anyway ? I appreciate that 11 months is a long time to notify them of the problems but a) I acted in good faith thinking it would be covered under the 12 month warranty and b) it does appear that they are suggesting they would have looked at the car earlier, even if it was an "adjustment".
