  Today has seen a lot of activity at the local Bentley dealership here in Kiev, we saw no less than four Bentleys, including the Japanese R-Type still awaiting delivery of the essential head-gasket, with Bill and Mark of car 15 working furiously on getting the rebuilt engine of the Model A Ford 'flyer' running again. One of the media-Toyotas was put to good use in towing the Ford up and down the yard, it ran briefly but clearly there were timing issues and after a few coughs, bangs and back-fires, the engine called it a day. Bill’s head was under the bonnet when we left… oil all over the immaculate floor, water pouring out from somewhere, and the rest of the competitors not quite used to a technique that calls for big hammers sliding around on a floor as slippery as an ice-rink.

  Car 80, the blue Ford Mustang convertible (below), had two tyres blow out at the same time, causing the car to swerve and get buried in a soft bank of dirt. A tow out from a camera-crew and a tyre change from the Sweeps Rob Dominy and Bob Harris soon had the car running again. The little blue Renault 4 stayed in Bulgan this morning, and could be there some time as the crew are now waiting for parts to fix the gearbox.

  Focuses still do better than any Ford ever did before. Cheapest of the day was a Radiant red 86,000 mile 99T 1.6 Zetec estate with a tow hook which sold for £3,700. But, not letting the side down, a 68,000 mile 2.0LX four door with a/c and alloys shot straight past its reserve of £4,400 to sell for £4,700, a 79,000 mile 99V 1.8iLX 5-door with a/c and rust in the back window sold for £4,750 and a silly spec 28,000 mile 99V 1.8 Zetec 3-door with neither climate pack nor sunroof bid to £5,750.
