  Motorists stand to save £10 a month as the cost of fuel plummets 17 Dec 2014 (News)
  Should the cost of diesel fall in line with the cost of petrol – to 103 pence-per-litre - owners would save £202 per year compared to July prices. Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda have announced continual fuel price reductions over the course of December, which look set to continue into the New Year.

  Sainsbury's offers 10x the amount of Nectar points on fuel during October 29 Sep 2015 (News)
  During October Sainsbury's is offering 10x the amount of Nectar points for every litre of fuel - the equivilent of a 5p per litre saving. The offer can be claimed by simply your Nectar card and follows a price cut by Sainsbury's of 2p per litre last week.  It lasts for the entire month of October and there is no limit to how many times you can fill up.

  Free tyre pressure monitor tool from Renault 6 May 2010 (News)
  Renault is giving away a free digital tyre pressure monitor - worth £15 - when owners buy two Michelin fuel-efficient tyres from their Renault dealer in May and June. The correct pressure can be found in your car's handbook or maintenance booklet. Ensuring tyres are inflated to the correct pressure can have a positive impact on safety, fuel economy, CO2 and tyre life.

  Ford announces 'most fuel-efficient car yet' 1 Dec 2009 (News)
  In addition to these technologies, a new software application called Eco Mode has been introduced to the new range. This has been designed to promote real-world fuel economy by changing driver habits and teaching motorists how to roll at the most fuel-efficient speed and calculate their percentage of cold-engine short trips. Shoppers interested in this car will have to wait until 2010, however - and they will pay a bit more than they would have done a few months before.

  The front-wheel drive Range Rover Evoque 2.0 ED4 is Land Rover’s most fuel-efficient car on paper.   The Association of British Drivers has suggested the government should adopt a flexible approach to fuel duty. It explained that when the price of oil is high, the country's leaders could keep the cost of petrol and diesel relatively constant by reducing its statutory charges. The group stated this kind of sliding fuel tax would provide the UK economy with a boost.

  Toyota and Kenworth prove that Hydrogen Fuel Cells can power heavy duty electric trucks. 23 Apr 2019 (News)
  Now a new generation of truck builds on the capabilities of Toyota’s original Project Portal proof-of-concept machines that have pioneered the use of hydrogen fuel cell technology for cleaner transportation of cargo. The new truck provides better packaging and an estimated driving range of more than 300 miles on a tank of fuel – double that of typical drayage trucks on the average daily duty cycle.

  Peugeot has launched a unique new ownership scheme called Just Add Fuel - a programme that covers all the major motoring costs in one single monthly payment. It means that driver's only have to worry about paying for fuel and also gives them the opportunity to drive a new car every three years.

  Coinciding with the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the Peugeot ECO CUP was designed to see if four different standard Peugeot HDi diesel models in the hands of everyday drivers could deliver fuel economy to match or beat the official government fuel economy figures. The result? They were not so much matched as shattered. The best return was a fraction shy of 90mpg and, what is more, this wasn’t in a tiny city car, hybrid or specially adapted vehicle.

  Fuel prices continue to surge as pound plummets 2 Nov 2016 (News)
  A combination of the weak pound and rising oil prices have contributed to average fuel prices rising at the fastest rate in four years. As a result petrol prices now stand at 116.7 pence-per-litre, while diesel has risen to 118.6p. Data from the RAC shows that diesel was up 5.1pence-per-litre in October, while average petrol prices increased by 4.3p.

  New ‘fuel saving’ catalytic converter developed 28 Jan 2014 (News)
  Imperial College London has developed a new catalytic converter that can save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions. The new device is smaller, lighter and cheaper than current catalytic converters and uses up to 80 per cent less rare metals.   A catalytic converter is the component in a vehicle’s exhaust system that eliminates harmful emissions and tests by Imperial College London suggest that the new prototype could reduce fuel consumption by up to three per cent.

  March 2017 recall round-up: Broken Vauxhall steering racks, Jaguar fuel leaks and Lambo fires 15 Mar 2017 (News)
  .  Jaguar has also issued an alert for XE. The recall affects more than 3100 diesel XEs and relate to a fuel leak that can result in a fire.   ASDA and Tesco provide some Christmas cheer with cut in fuel prices 17 Dec 2013 (News)
  Motorists visiting ASDA and Tesco this Christmas will get some extra seasonal cheer after both supermarkets announced a drop in fuel prices. The changes come into effect on 17 December and will see motorists pay no more than 126.7p per litre for unleaded and 134.7p per litre for diesel. Both retailers said they would aim to keep the prices low to reflect the fall in cost of wholesale fuel.

  New Tesco fuel offer cuts 10p off a litre 30 Jan 2012 (News)
  Tesco’s latest offer to entice buyers into their stores offers 10p off every litre of fuel if you spend £60 or more in store, meaning a saving of around £4-£5 off the average cost of filling up from empty. There are some exclusions on what you can buy in store, like cigarettes and lottery tickets, but most of the things you’ll usually buy on a weekly shop will count towards the £60 total, and the offer runs until February 5 th.

  Diesel drivers urged to protect their warranties 26 Mar 2009 (News)
  Motorists with diesel vehicles could invalidate their warranties by using a certain type of fuel, it has been claimed. Clean Green Cars warned that B30 - which is currently sold at 113 Morrisons' garages in the UK - has not received universal approval from manufacturers. It pointed out the fuel is contains up to 30 per cent biomass, when the usual proportion is usually about five.

  Fiat 'improves fuel efficiency of 500' 9 Feb 2009 (News)
  Figures from Fiat showed drivers of the 1.2-litre engine version of the model can expect to make fuel savings of up to 12 per cent, compared with the original edition. Managing director Andrew Humberstone said: "This is an important development for the 500 as it will help to make what is already a fuel-efficient, value-for-money car an even greater consideration for town and city drivers.

  Mazda2 diesel 'could save you cash' 15 Oct 2008 (News)
  Competitors drove through Wales and the Midlands to see how adopting an efficient driving style can improve fuel economy and cut costs. The Mazda2 diesel - which was driven by motoring journalist Sue Cooke - achieved 84.58 mpg. Commenting on the marathon, Ms Cooke said: "Adopting a common sense approach and employing basic smarter motoring techniques ... allowed us to clearly demonstrate the huge fuel economy potential of the Mazda2.
