After a refreshing walk I put a gallon in and it churned over for about 30sec then fired and all has been well since. The car in question is a '95 diesel fiesta and does'nt have a fuel priming bulb like my previous peugeot and citroen diesels. I know that a diesel pump is lubricated by the diesel inside and should'nt be run dry, but could I have done any damage? -

I'd had trouble starting my car but now it won't start at all. We've changed the fuel filter and glow plugs but it still won't start as the diesel isn't getting thru'. (almost did with lots of WD40 sprayed on it) My friendly mechanic says that it is most likely the fuel pump and says it will need to get to a Ford dealer to repair. -

Citroen C3 - air leaking into diesel lines 10 Nov 2011 (Forum)
my car sometimes stops whilr driving along normally and would ot restart.few hours later or next morning car starts normally.had a good look at the engine and disconnected and reconnected all the diesel lines.i suspect there was a leak in the fuel feed line,which works by sucking fuel from tank(there is no pump in the tank) and removing and refitting the lines fixed the problem.is there a kit to change the orings in the quick release fuel line connectors? -

much seems to have been made about the components of common rail injection systems which are lubricated by the fuel itself. i.e. high pressure pump, injectors etc. Seeing as some of the long-running horror stories seem to concentrate on the use of "contaminated fuel" or supermarket-grade fuel - I wonder if there is a product on the market that can be added to diesel to provide additional lubricity? -
