Other than the above, the car runs smoothly. Any ideas what it could be, or is it a characteristic of this engine? -
High (ish) mileage diesels - risk or bargain? 14 Aug 2011 (Forum)
What's the view - are they a risk or seriously worth considering as a prestige marque with a low price tag that will actually run for 150 - 200k miles? -
Ulysse, Synergie & 806 rust ? 6 Aug 2011 (Forum)
MPV and a Ulysse/Synergie/806 ticks the boxes. It won't be a main car as I've got a Skoda Fabia as family motor, Smart Fortwo as run around and Austin Healey Sprite for fun. Use will be as single person camper for overnight stops, dog carrier, tip trips, mobility buggy hauler etc - ie a workhorse ;)Like any older car I fully understand there can be problems but my biggest hate is rust / rot. -

Suzuki Alto 1.0 GL Petrol 54 reg - Oil in Air Filter Housing 5 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Hubby got his mum's car for a couple of days to do a service, and when he took cover off air filter, found a lot of engine oil in the housing and around the edge of the filter itself. He's dried it out and going to take it for a run to see if it happens again, as don't want to ruin a new filter, but any idea what might be causing it. Oil fill level is slightly over max, but never come across oil in the filter in a car before. -

Driveway in front of zig zag lines 7 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I'm buying a house on a main road. There are traffic lights about 30 yards away and the white zigzag lines run along in front of this house. Obviously i will need a dropped kerb before getting permission for a drive way. BUT do you think the local highway agency will give me permission for a dropped kerb seeing as there are zig zag lines in front of the property? -
Ageing airbags. How safe are they? 3 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I have always been an advocate of the "bangernomics" school of thought, having previously owned a string of old crates that have (more or less) got me from A to B) My latest car, a 1995 306 1.9 xrdt has proven itself to be a little gem. It has never missed a beat in the three years I have had it, and I would like to keep it running as long as possible. My only concern though is the drivers airbag. How long is the life expectancy of these things? When do they need servicing or replacing, and what are the chances of an old one simply deploying at random? -
Vectra 18" Wheels - Advice please 3 Apr 2011 (Forum)
This could affect my decision whether or not to buy. Any other comments on this car ? I know it will be expensive to run, MPG, Insurance, Road Tax etc. My current car, an Omega 2.6 estate has been great and now at 155k, could I expect the same ? Any comments good or bad appreciated Thanks and cheers ! -

Dear Members, I have just bought a 106 from my aged aunt who had not run it for about 8 weeks. It started first time when I tried it. 3 days later without use the battery was flat. I have repaced the battery but there seems to be an excessive drain from somewhere as it goes completely flat in a couple of days. -

Volkswagen Passat - Tyres that don't seal to rims... 21 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Hi all, Have a 99 VW Passat TDi that I've run for ages, huge mileage and best car I ever bought. However in it's old age a couple of the alloys don't seem to be able to seal with their tyres. It's quite annoying, and means they need a pump-up every week or so. -
Peugeot, Xantia, Suzuki - XUD 1.9 TD, 75 HP, Lucas Pump, 1999 1 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Hi, a/m engine is fitted to a Suzuki jeep. seems to run well but top speed with pedal on the floor is down to 140 Km an hour (without head wind) and revs mx 4200/4300. There is a gap between accelerating start and actual accelaration start on the pump. -
If you have a technical question.... 23 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Not used the forum before - so not sure whether this question belongs here: I need to replace my PIRELLI P6000 195/65 R15 91H (or V) tyres on my 2001 BMW 320D Touring with alloy wheels . Are there any better tyres available with combination of smoother running / better traction in wet or on ice / better cornering / longer life? The MICHELIN Energy Saver publicity sounds interesting but I am looking for an impartial opinion or result of independant tests.
