2.0 tdci mondeo - mondeo 56 plate tdci egr valve - simoncbr900rr

had the car on the diagnostic machine and the egr valve is faulty.....looked on tinterweb and a egr valve for my year tdci is about £90....i phoned ford up out of curiousity of how much they charge and they have told me after taking my reg that the egr unit i have was on a short run and it`s £438!!!!.....question is will i need that specific one or will any egr valve for an 06 tdci work? i`d be very grateful if anybody can supply a definate answer as ford would not commit to saying anything

I know that a 55 jag x type 2.0d is the same as a 2.0tdci 56 plate if that helps.
