  • Ford StreetKa - Ford StreetKA brake pedal goes to floor 4 Mar 2018 (Forum)
The brakes are much more responsive and it doesn’t feel like the pedal creeps half as quickly however I still have the same problem. If I press the brake (with engine running) twice the pedal sits firm about half way, however just once and the pedal creeps down. I assume the brake booster is fine as when I take the hose off I can here a rush of air. Could it be ABS module?
  • Jaguar X-Type 2.0d SE - X type update 28 Feb 2018 (Forum)
I bought the car, more or less sight unseen, for £2,700 five years ago at 132,000 miles. It has been, I think, one of my better purchases. I hope to run it it to 200,000 - if only to watch the odometer change.
  • Nissan Elgrand? - Load carrying vehicle recommendation 22 Feb 2018 (Forum)
One.bike might be longer than normal. The other wish list item is that the vehicle is realistically cheap to run as possible for the size/capacity. It will be the only family car. We own a SEAT Altea XL but one out my bikes doesn't fit (recumbent bike). So subverting bigger is needed. One idea is a Nissan Elgrand personal import.
  • Any - A true utility 4 x 4 to replace the LR Defender. 17 Dec 2017 (Forum)
they're not as practical for an everyday farmer or outdoor person day to day. And they're exteremely expensive to buy and run. And dare I say fragile, stuffed with electronics and over complicated suspension etc.  So what is there out there that replaces the Defender as a proper rugged, immensely practical, genuine off roader?
  • Nissan Micra se 2003 - Can I use a 2nd starter button with original one? 7 Dec 2017 (Forum)
Hi, my 2003 Micra SE runs fine most of the time, but every so often the immobilizer doesn't turn off and I'm unable to start the car. I've read that this could be down to interference. But I have found that disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery seems to sort it out.
  • Jaguar X-Type Estate (2004 - 2007) - 04 2.0D Engine cuts out..... 20 Oct 2017 (Forum)
My brother has a Jaguar X-Type 2.0 diesel. Just last week it cut out and he thought it had run out of fuel because it was low. He filled it up and it started straight away. He thought that was that until it happened again after about 25 miles. The engine cut out and would not re-start. He cranked it over, and it sounded like it wanted to fire but it wouldn't.
  • Audi A3 Sportback - Advice from owners for used premium car purchase? 2 Aug 2017 (Forum)
However, I'm wondering if I really just want something more modern, rather than premium. I would tyically consider German/Swedish stuff too expensive to run, and am sure a new model from any of the big names would be a huge improvement. I imagine I'd get more for my money. Ideas? Suggestions? Ill-informed assumptions on my part?! Cheers in advance.
  • Ford Focus Saloon - Focus 1.8 TDDi MK1 Diesel - Diesel Leak around inj 4 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Decided to take for a drive for few miles, opened the hood again and saw fresh leak around same area, which confirms it leaks when the engine is running.       Background   I had experienced smell of diesel inside the car last year around same time, no sluggish start though if I can remember.
  • Honda Fit 2006 - Honda Jazz problem ?EGR valve 19 May 2017 (Forum)
The auto transmission oil was flushed late last yr due to the juddering problem which did seem to help it for a little while but then it came back. They have run diagnostics and it is coming up with a code, however because the car is a jap import, the code is in Japanese! One of the lads at the garage used to work for Honda so he was able to find out that the code was related to air flow, so they changed the air flow meter (or mointor?)
  • First Car for a Young Driver 24 Apr 2017 (Forum)
(And not before time, I hear you say....) Can anyone please suggest some cars which are similar in size, insurance cost and general running costs to a Toyota Aygo but which will enable her to manoeuvre the car a low speeds without using the accelerator. Thanks.
  • Honda Civic - Honda service, how to annoy a customer 16 Apr 2017 (Forum)
On collection the receptionist went through all the paperwork. No free breakdown and recovery cover had been provided even though its part of Honda's long-running service offer. Apparently I should have asked for it! They don't provide it automatically. She was however able to sort it right away. So what should have been an experience where I felt I was getting a very good deal (which it is), left me pretty disgruntled.
  • All makes and models - Possibly the end of the fuel debate? 20 Mar 2017 (Forum)
We spent the entire taxi journey taking about the fuels and I asked him if the truth about supermarket fuels is true, his answer was simply what do I think I'm the one doing 50k a year. I told him I don't touch them and run my car exclusively on shell v power and the only result I care about is the improved MPG .  He said the only difference is the addititves. The main players use a much higher dose and a better quality one than the supermarkets.
  • Renault megane 2002 1.9dci - Loose back end - Shocks? 6 Mar 2017 (Forum)
I recently gave my old megane to my girlfriend until MOT runs out in October,  We were away on a trip this weekend, with the car fully loaded with four passengers (one a tad heavy) and a boot full of bags etc. The car drove faulessely on the way down (roughly 120 mile trip so 240 round trip), it felt a little funny going round a corner once but thought nothing of it.
  • Nissan Almera Tino - Car stalling out 1 Mar 2017 (Forum)
The battery is fine, the fuel line pressure was fine, nothing seemed clogged.  I had the heating running on the 15th and 18th, not on the 17th. Today when I was driving it there was a lot of hot air coming from the windscreen vents but I left the fan and heating off. It didn't stall today.  Any suggestions?
  • Vauxhall signum 1.9tdci - Vauxhall keeps going into limp mode 13 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Problems started last year when the car started dropping into limp mode. I was able to turn the engine off and on again which would clear the warning light, the car would run fine again for a few miles, before dropping back into limp mode. This would carry on for a few days, then the car would smoke a lot for a few miles, but it would then clear the problem for a few weeks before repeating all over again.
  • Nissan Qashqai 1.5dci - Cold start problem 4 Sep 2016 (Forum)
I've replaced the battery, glow plugs and also taken the egr valve out and cleaned it and sprayed the rest of the cleaner down the intake with the engine running.  I didn't take the egr appart anymore than the valve.  Should I be looking at cleaning another part that might be blocked up with soot? If the engine is warm or it has already been used that day (so long as it is not a very cold day) then the engine starts fine.
  • Ford Focus - Misfuel - Diesel in Petrol Car ( 9 May 2016 (Forum)
AS far I have seen all forums says, car should be  fuel drained as Disesl will act a lubricant and car will need to throughly cleaned and flushed out of Disesl and will be ready to run. PLease let me know, also if you have some views on legal thoughts. I followed what the rental company said and though he acknwoledges , he resists by saying I have to pay it. Thanks Rak363
  • Ford Granada 1990 2.OL d.o.h.c. - ABS problem 24 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I have run this car from new with few problems.  However, I have been unable so far to find a solution/company who has been able to offeer any repair/replacement since this manifested itself some 2 years agao.
  • Jaguar XJ8 - HPI shows different model (Executive / Sovereign) 6 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I've been looking at a used Jaguar XJ8 3.2 (2000 reg) - the car looks great and feels fantastic. Engine runs well, suspension is sound and log book provides a full service history up until a year or so ago when the gear box went. It since took the owner (a Jaguar mechanic) that time to replace the gearbox with a reconditioned replacement but now it's done he's asked his mate (a Jaguar parts retailer) to sell it on for him.
  • Soft top motoring 29 Dec 2015 (Forum)
So far I have gone everywhere with the roof down, and hopefully the novelty won't wear off, my son is certainly happy when I do the school run! Has anyone had their roof down through the winter? I have often thought that soft tops should have an automatic function where the roof goes down its not raining. It seems a shame to leave the roof up.
