  • Windscreen Mist Film 23 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Now that the damp mornings are becoming more frequent I have noticed that I am getting a film of mist on the windscreen that refuses to go with the wipers. It will disappear once the car has been moving for a while but takes about a half mile! This is not so good when the sun is low in the sky. Does anybody else have a problem with this?
  • Position of traffic signal cameras 1 Nov 2009 (Forum)
At this point I noticed a flash from a pole mounted camera in between the two carriageways. (through my front windscreen, on the right). On later inspection I found that the camera appears to be angled towards the other side of the road (i.e. towards the oncoming traffic as I was going through the junction) and would have been taking photos of the back of oncoming vehicles.

  • Toyota Celica (2000 - 2007) - 00 1.8 Window Wiper / Washers problem 4 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Front window wipers switch on for no reason whatsoever even when they are on intermittent, they go to normal sweep, also my windscreen washers are not working front and rear, checked fuses, all seems in order, thought it may be the wiper stalk so managed to take it apart, all contacts seemed ok, cleaned it up and away I went, scooshers still didnt work then 5 mins into journey wipers switched on.... aaaahhhhh Purchased a used wiper stalk on ebay cos a new one from the dealer is a small fortune, same happened again, now unless I am extremely unlucky and have 2 faulty stalks I am thinking its the pump (cant find one on ebay and not buying from dealer)...but why is it shorting the wiper..... or is it the ecu?

  • Icy windscreen: cold fan heater? 9 Dec 2003 (Forum)
My car heater is of no use until the engine has fully warmed up (a couple of miles or so). Nissan Micra K11. Yet I sometimes read postings about clearing ice from car windscreens in the morning which advise drivers to first of all start the engine and turn the screen fan heater on.
  • Ford Mondeo - Rear Windscreen Washer Jet 16 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Have recently purchased a 2010 Mondeo Hatchback. The rear windscreen washer jet is very good at washing the road not the windscreen ! Anyone any ideas on how to align it ? Using a pin results in a bent pin ! Using a stronger needle results in a broken needle ! Cheers, Mike.
  • Windscreen Chip repair kits 9 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Guys, I have recently purchased a secondhand car due to being made redundant and having to give back my company car. I'm hopeful I will only have this car for 3-4 months max and then I'll get another job with a company car. Anyway, I was cleaning the car today and noticed a small chip in the windscreen, it's no more than 1 cm long and probably 1mm, maybe 2mm deep.
  • Car Sharks, and the plain daft 5 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Fortunately it could not be driven as the cylinder head was in the boot! Huge sigh of relife there. Fiat 126 where the boot (at the front) was found to have a flip top facility as the front of the car (on which it was hinged) all but came away from the wings. A Mini that a daft (not dishonest) aqaintance offered to me. I later bought this for spares.

  • Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 96 1.5 Front suspension, wheel bearing & CV joint 3 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I have had loud banging in my front passenger side wheel for some time now. I have fixed the back suspension that was leaning to one side by replacing the whole back axle thingy. I presumed the front was to do with the cv joint o wheel bearing which i was going to replace from the scrap yard for about £55.
  • Ford Fiesta Zetec 2000 - leaking water 24 Nov 2012 (Forum)
My ford fiesta zetec is leakng alot of water. The leak seems to be coming from under the engine rather than the radiator at the front. I am having to fill up water every day. Do i need a new water pump and if so, is it a big job that will cost  a lot? Could this also be linked to cold air coming from my air conditioning even when turned up full on heating?
  • Upgrading to Climate Control- Focus Ghia 24 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, I have spotted this on a breakers: http://tinyurl.com/y6c9pj . it's basically electronic climate control, that fits in to the same dash fascia as the standard manual climate control: http://tinyurl.com/yyvdce The question is: would this actually function just by replacing my current controls (A/C on, recirc, Heated Front/Rear screen, temp cold/hot, fan 1-4, fan position). I would assume that it plugs in to the same sockets where the current manual switches are? thanks in advance

  • Kangoos....... 4 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Just back from hols where after queuing for ages in the stifling heat of Europcar's office in Nice I succumbed and allowed myself to be fobbed off with a Kangoo instead of a Megane/Xsara/normal car. What a heap of doo-doo. There is nothing absolutely nothing good about this car, what were they thinking of by offering a plumber's van as a car?
  • Jaguar S-Type 2006 - Heating full on and very hot 25 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I have an S-Type and the heating was coming through very hot inside the car despite using the controls to turn the temp down. I have dual zone controls if that helps. My local independent changed the heating valve unit and this worked for a week.
