  - Scraped about 4cm of heavy wet snow off the windscreen this morning, then turned the wipers on. One of them got jammed on the compacted snow at the base of the windscreen, and after a couple of seconds and a dull thud... wipers kaput!   I have a Passat 130tdi estate. Water is getting into front drivers side floor pan. Suspect it may be coming from bulkhead. Can anyone tell me where drain channels are located - they may be blocked by leaf debris as vehicle is parked under trees and i have cleard out a lot of compacted debris from under the vents between bonnet and windscreen.

  I wonder if anyone can shed any light on a sudden windscreen wiper and heater fan failure on my '96 Punto which occurred on Friday. I thought it must be a fuse as the front and rear wipers and washers have ceased to operate at all, as has the heater fan. Both fuses checked - OK.

  Can anyone advise me how to achieve smooth silent windscreen wipers? I have a Honda CRV and have been plagued by noisy wipers for years. I even fitted new Honda wiper blades, but still they judder noisily across the screen. It was the same with my last car - a Vauxhall Cavalier.

  I know if a crack or chip in a windscreen is over a certain size in the drivers line of view, the car will fail an MOT. However mine has a slight scratch not a crack, noticable if you look for it 10cm long in the drivers line of sight.

  There are no shortcuts except try and not remove the matrix rubber grommit in the bulkhead but disconnect the plastic pipe assembly inside the car under the windscreen and close to the bulkhead.
