Renault Grand Espace, Ssangyong Tourismo - Renault Grand Espace or Ssangyong Tourismo? 28 Mar 2025 (Forum)
And I have £5k to spend I’ve had crew cab vans before, but they were too utilitarian for long trips, and got broken into too, so not looking at those anymore. I’ve had the Renault Grand Espace before and it was good for my needs, very comfortable on long trips and towed well. I also liked the opening panoramic roof (not available on the Ssangyong), and the looks were different too. -

Renault Clio III - Handbook & service history stolen, dangers? 13 Jul 2018 (Forum)
I was wondering what the possible problems of this will be and how I can mitigate them? a) How easy would it be for them to get a key from my car from Renault, using the handbook as proof of ownership (as it contains PIN/VIN number, etc.). I reported it to a local Renault dealer, who said they would spread the word to local dealers, but is there any way to notify Renault further up the chain? -
Renault Clio - Renault Clio engine shutsdown 24 Sep 2013 (Forum)
If you stop and restart the car it seems to reset and run OK for a while then does the same thing... could be related to temp?. There is a strong petrol smell when it does this. The Renault dealer has charged a fortune to have this diagnosed previously, it has been back to them on several occassions, at one point they claimed it was the rear lights that all needed to be replaced along with wiring... they based this on the fault indicator 'tool' showing a short somewhere in the system. -

How well does the Mk2 Renault Clio hold up today? 10 Feb 2022 (Forum)
It looks nice (better than facelift to my eyes) and should be cheap to run, and so far as I'm aware it's supposed to be one of the mechanically better and more reliable Renaults of the time, no? Anyone here with experience of that car willing to help please? -
VW/Toyota/Ford/Renault - Diesel Vans 7 Jul 2021 (Forum)
It's not a massive site though you see the maintenance people running round in vans, all diesel, with offerings from VW, Toyota, Ford & Renault. They range from 2011 - 2016 & shuffle about the site on very short distances. I assume they all have dpf's & it's always fascinated me if they have any problems. l recently had the opportunity to speak with a couple of the drivers & the manager of the site, who stated they haven't experienced any issues with dpf's. -
Renault megane - Timing belt 17 May 2021 (Forum)
I have a timing belt kit which I bought a few years ago for a Renault 1.5DCI engine. It was never used, as the customer changed their mind about keeping the car. My daughter has now bought a Megane. The belt kit I have will do the job for her car, but although I am mechanic/retired with more years than I care to think about, I simply don't know if the belt, although not used and kept in the original box in my workshop on a shelf, will have degraded in any way. -
Honest John Statistcs today's telegraph - German car reliabilty is a myth 10 Feb 2021 (Forum)
HJ has published his league tables of letters of complaint about various makes. German cars in particular appear to be getting much worse, but what surprises me is how Renault have progressed from the worst to the best. Against the Toyota Yari s 2011 to date which has 21 letters of complaint, the Captur during the same period scores 19. Well done Renault , and that comes from someone who has consistently bashed Renaults and together with my partner took a risk on a new Captur 1.3 T based mainly on price! -
Renault Zoe - Faulty Zoe 5 Dec 2020 (Forum)
Hi, I recently (within the last 3 months) purchased a 2016 Renault Zoe - when it arrived it had no working air con/heating (which is needed for the battery charging system to function correctly). The dealer finally got round to 'fixing it', which involved simply regassing the air con system as it was empty. -

Renault Scenic buying advice 22 Mar 2015 (Forum)
So I've finally decided to get a Renault Scenic. I apreciate it may not be the wisest of choices given some of the reliability problems reported but I loved my 51 plate scenic (Ernie - I miss him daily) and I hate my supposedly ultra reliable Focus C-Max so I'm making the decision with heart over head. -
2010 Renault Laguna dCI Dynamique Tom Tom - Water Spillage under the car 19 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Hi I have a Renault Laguna dCI 2.0 Diesel. I noticed the other day that there was very slight spillage of water dripping from under the car. The Air Con is OFF when I'm driving it, so i'm not sure what could be the reason for this. -

Renault Megane 2 litre 2004 - Noise when starting engine 6 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Need some advice, I have a Renault Megane 2 litre petrol, 2004, 52,000 miles. Over the past two weeks I have notice a noise coming from the engine when starting my car in the mornings. After driving for a while it disappears. The noise is fairly hard to describe, its a squeak/whirring noise which happens every two seconds, as mentioned it will continue to happen until the car is driven for a little while. -
Renault Modus (2004 - ) - 05 1.5 "Change Oil" message 1 Jan 2010 (Forum)
But according to the service record, the previous owner only had the car serviced (including oil and ALL filters) at a Renault dealer's in February, and 7,500 miles ago. No doubt I'll get the oil changed anyway just to be sure, but I was wondering: Does this engine employ some kind of optical translucency (or other) sensing, to determine when the oil needs changing? -
Renault Zoe name causes uproar. 30 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I'm pretty flummoxed by this one..... From Autocar... "Renault's decision to call its electric supermini Zoe has caused uproar in France. "Press reports suggest parents of children named Zoe are reported to have flooded the company with complaints and launched online petitions demanding the name be changed."
