  • Black tinted rear window driving at night 15 Mar 2024 (Forum)
The car has manufacturer tinted windows on the rear passenger windows and rear windows. I never thought about this on the test drive, as it during day light. When when driving at night and checking my mirrors, visibility is n't great. All I can are two headlight. I can't make out the colour, make or model of car. This is useful, as I like to keep out of the way of faster cars when overtaking.
  • Driving SORN car to pre-booked MOT but I cancelled 19 Oct 2023 (Forum)
Hey all, I have an electric car which is SORN with no MOT, and to tax it (which is £0) I need an MOT, hence I booked one and upon driving towards the garage, my range dropped significantly and I turned back home to recharge the car. I'm aware that I am allowed to drive a SORN car to an MOT appointment. However, I have concerns about potential issues with ANPR cameras fines by post.
  • what family car gives the best mpg at 80Mph 8 Oct 2022 (Forum)
I am having difficulty in picking through manufacturers quoted mpg/green bandings to actual real world driving. My commute and job mean that I do not drive in towns, but travel on cruise at about 80Mph on the Speedo (75Mph on sat nav) and I am trying to work out what family car (2 kids) gives the best Mpg and overall running costs.
  • any - visit britain advice for visiting drivers 24 Apr 2018 (Forum)
The current threads on driving in France got me thinking as to what visitors to UK are advised. The "Visit Britain guide to driving in the UK" is a corker. It lists that you should have reflective jackets, triangles, spare bullbs etc as if they are mandatory.

  • Ford Focus - Dull Drive 9 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Does anyone else drive one of these cars and think the same? Or could it be the Euro 6 issue as mentioned in another thread. Unbelievably, I can't wait for my 2008 Kia Cee'd to be given back to me! Craig
  • BMW 3 Series - F30 316i engine powerful enough for daily driving? 26 Dec 2016 (Forum)
It was awful. I've not tried BMWs before and I am not willing to drive a car with a crippled engine again. At the same time, I'm looking for the most economical version of 3 series with a decent price so the ED version is slightly higher in price.   Thank you

  • Ford Mondeo Titanium X Estate - 2011 model - Gearbox problem/Engine management problem - help.. 11 Aug 2015 (Forum)
My Ford Mondeo seems to drop out of gear while on the move. Today, driving at about 40mph I suffered a loss of drive. The engine is still running and the revs shoot up but there is no drive to the wheels. I had to pull over, turn the engine off, restart, and was then able to continue driving.
  • VW Polo (2014 1.4 Blue Motion) - Driving to Spain 5 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Hi. My girlfriend and I have decided to drive to Spain. We're hoping to catch the ferry from Dover to Dunkirk and then drive to Murcia in Spain. We want to avoid Paris itself (but may be prepared to take the perifierique). Neither of us have driven this distance before.
  • International Driving Licence 29 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Hi All, We travelled a bit last year through Western US in an RV, which was great fun, and having done some research my friend and I who were rented the vehicle together invested a few quid on an international driving licence. I think we did this on the basis of better safe than sorry in terms of insurance liabilities. I've never done this in Europe, but I may now have convinced myself I need to do this for th US, with another trip planned in September what do other BR's reckon to the value of a the international driving licence.

At weekends I sometimes do a few 2-3 mile journeys while the drive to work is mixed driving conditions c 15 miles. The drive home is a bit more of a crawl, it was tonight but there is a 3 mile blast in the middle of it. Is this a DPF problem ie, should I take it for a 20 minute blast..or should I get it into the dealers ASAP tomorrow morning ?

  • Any Make - Self Drive Cars 15 May 2012 (Forum)
The latest Buzz is about cars that drive themselves, a topic that surfaces every several years when a manufacturer shows a train of cars driving in a line and that they follow each other keeping apart no matter what speed changes occur.
  • Audi A3 Sportback - Driving in the Netherlands 12 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I understand that I need to use headlight deflectors if I use my dipped headlights, however I plan not to do any night driving as at is my first venture into driving in Europe. I have two questions with regard to this. As my new car is fitted with LED DRL's, this will cover me for lights during the day if visibility is good.
  • CO-OP young driver insurance 21 Oct 2011 (Forum)
So, £15 for me and ten for him - buys a couple of pints and is an encouragement for him to carry on driving sanely. He's a retained firefighter so he has seen a few car crashes but nevertheless I'm warming to the Co-Op's slightly big brother approach to young drivers. Even my own driving in that car has moderated!
