  • Mazda MX5 (1998-2005) - '53 1.8 spark plugs 31 Dec 2007 (Forum)
My daughter complained her MX5 has been a reluctant starter of late, and I thought I might look at her plugs, but when IRTFB it said the plugs only needed...
  • Cars made in Japan? 26 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I won't be surprised if in few years time the term "Japanse reliability" will synonym like "French reliability". Honda - UK and China soon (Jazz) Toyota - France (Yaris) Suzuki - Hungary (Swift/Ignis) Mazda - Spain (Mazda 2) Mitsubishi - Holland (Colt) Nissan = Renault Subaru - ? Daihatsu - ? • Mazda 3 - Mazda 3 (2013 on) - your opinions please 28 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Here are the things doing their best to put me off: Seems fairly pricey compared to some competitors (although not bad value next to a Golf or even an Auris) "55.4mpg" is great for a 2.0 petrol, but HJ Real MPG figure is 47.7 and it's not so clever vs all the small turbo petrol units out there Higher insurance group than many competitors (group 17, vs 12 for Auris 1.8 HSD) Mazda dealers rated 2 out of 5 by Which members (better examples are Skoda, 4/5 and Toyota, 5/5) Several owners reporting flimsy body panels, and one observing the car getting tatty relatively quickly Warranty... real shame that Mazda don't match Toyota's 5 yr warranty Not much low-down torque with 2.0 petrol, performance is there but needs working to get it Grumbles about ride quality on some surfaces (and I have to contend with at least a dozen speed lumps every working day) Poor rear visibility and no parking sensors on SE (why, Mazda, why?)
  • Mazda MX5 - Car been in the garage for 6 weeks! 17 Jul 2010 (Forum)
2.The garage have booked it under their name with Mazda in order to (they say) keep the warranty company sweet - can I pay the mazda garage direct to get my car back? 3. Where would you advise I get legel advice from it order to pursue this as I am expecting I might need to Pay Under Protest to get my car back!
  • Mazda 3 - Slight bouncing / bumping feeling at speed 20 Apr 2019 (Forum)
There are no unusual noises coming from the car at all, gear changes are fine, no unusual wear patterns on tyres, driveshafts and CV boots look fine, it's very strange. Not owning a Mazda before I didn't know if this was a trait of Mazda's, or whether I should be looking at anything else as to what might be causing this. I don't know if loosing a wheel balance weight or two might be causing this.
  • Mazda 6 - Idling and low rev torubles 18 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I have bought a second hand 2004 Mazda 6 2.0td ts2  with just under 90k miles on the clock. It has service history (not dealer) and all looked good, up until it started stalling for no reason while sat at idle. First thing was to run a full tank of fuel with injector cleaner in as the car had been sat for a while unused.
  • Mazda 6 - 2l petrol Mazda 6 stalling at junctions 11 Mar 2013 (Forum)
My 55-plate 2l petrol Mazda 6 has started stalling when approaching junctions and when putting the clutch in or coasting for short distances at slow speeds (in car parks or traffic queues for example) When this happens, the revs drop below the normal idling range (650-700), bounce up and down and the car then sometimes stalls once they get below around 500.
  • Time for a change ...................... 21 Jul 2007 (Forum)
We do around 7-10K miles a year, made up of the school run and commuting a short distance during the week with longer trips 150-200 miles/day at the weekend (seaside etc). I've narrowed it down to a choice of 2 new cars and a "wildcard" 2nd hand choice: 1. Mazda 6 2.0 petrol Katano - New (£14995 otr) the Mazda drives well, has loads of kit and the cost to change is £5110. 2. Toyota Avensis 2.0 D4D Colour collection - New (£14685 otr) the toyota is a lot softer than the mazda, but is easy enough to drive.
  • Best small but powerful automatic with extras?? 11 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Hi everyone, I currently drive a Mazda 3 sports nav 2.2 litre diesel. I love the car, but want something smaller and automatic. I would have switched to Mazda 2, but can’t get the combination of engine and extras I’m after (I’ve got used to them all now!!!)
  • Mazda CX-3 - Novice Negotiator Requires Advice - New Car 31 Mar 2017 (Forum)
Hello, I'm thinking about trading my current car in for a brand new or nearly new car and would like some advice about what I can expect with regards to any movement on the list price of the car I'm considering and the best way to negotiate. My current car is a 2012 Maxda MX-5 Mk3 with 29000 miles. I want to buy a Mazda CX-3 Sport Venture either brand new or nearly new but I'm picky about the model/colour I want. I'd rather trade in my current car as I'm not comfortable selling it off my drive. I'm open to consider PCP or I can get a bank loan for the difference in price between my trade in and the new one.
  • Mazda 6 - Evans Halshaw 9 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Hi, I recently bought a Mazda from Evans Halshaw (Mansfield) who told me (whilst they were trying to sell to me) that they had a no quibble 3 month guarantee and that absolutely everything was covered.  Anyway, there is a problem with the drivers seat, it even moved on the test drive but, I assumed that it had not been locked in position properly after cleaning.
  • Yaris/Mazda 2/Hyundai and more - New supermini confused 6 Sep 2013 (Forum)
I do about 6k miles a years, mainly short journeys, occasional drives along the motorway. I have looked at the usual culprits - new yaris, jazz, Mazda 2, jazz, polo also the Hyundai i20. The only car I am not sure about is the jazz, which seemed quite a firm ride. We have many pot holes around here! I wanted to like it as reliability is key. The new yaris is bigger than my old one, also higher up the price list.
  • Mazda MX-5 - Returning a car 4 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I bought a Mazda mx5 about 5 weeks ago. It was advertised as having aircon which I found didn't work. Then shortly afterwards I noticed a slow oil leak so I rang the garage who advised me to take it to their garage.
  • mazda 3 - loud tick over - inlet manifold? 28 Mar 2012 (Forum)
This youtube video is exactly what my engine sounds like; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O8qSw4dxII TSB from mazda: http://www.mazda3club.com/showpost.php?p=363453&postcount=6 The one thing I cant figure out is; is this causing any harm in any way, shape or form?  I can learn to live with the sound - as I dont fancy replacing my manifold just to 'get rid of the noise'
  • Mazda MX5 1.6 - intermittent engine cut-out 10 Sep 2011 (Forum)
One day my 1996 Mazda MX5 Monaco (that's the options-free economy 1.6 model) will do a faultless 500-mile round trip and the following day it will break down every 300 yards. The engine will just stop running whether it is ticking over or on the move.
  • Mazda B-Series - Help! Radiator & Cooling Aggro..... 8 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Hi, Can any one shed any light on this problem.. Car is petrol 1987 Mazda B2000 pickup I got fed up with lack of heat from heater and suspected the thermostat which I replaced yesterday. On drive home there was very little if any improvement in heater output. Today on the same drive back from work, just as I reached home (3.5 miles) I noticed a noise which I think was water escaping from the expansion tank.
  • Renault Laguna III (2007 - ) - Considering new Laguna Tourer - Am I mad? 6 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Well our trusty Mazda MPV will soon be 6 years old and while mileage is low (35000 miles) we would like something diffeent. The Mazda although dynamically not brilliant has been ultra reliable and is in good condition.
  • Mazda 626 (1997 - 1999) - 98 2.0 Low rev misfire 31 May 2009 (Forum)
My recently acquired Mazda has got a low rev misfire. If I give the pedal a stab from idle it misses and then revs. On the move between 1000-2000 rpm it splutters a bit then picks up OK. After 2000 rpm is is sweet and picks up very well.
