  • Renault Megane (1996 - 1998) - 1.6 Cooling system/heater problems 4 Oct 2007 (Forum)
my Renault Megane 1.6 rt cooling system temperature soon gets to the halfway mark on the dial ( it never used to reach this level even on a hot summers day) and maintains this level only getting hotter when standing in traffic or eg pulling up hill or cools down when cruising downhill or when fan kicks in. also heater not noticeably working. Any ideas on what may cause this. there has been no loss of coolant. s
  • Selling a registration mark 10 Dec 2006 (Forum)
But according to the blurb on a retention certificate I've got, my deal is with the Sec of State, and it isn't transferable to anyone else. Which sounds like 'You've bought it, but once you don't want it it reverts to me, the S of S". I guess I can sell the mark if it's on a car. Is that the only way I can do it? I feel a call to the DVLA coming on... but can anyone shed a bit of light before I do? (It might help me understand a bit more what they say.)

  • Citroen C5 rear axle problems 21 May 2006 (Forum)
My 2 yr old C5 1.9 HDI Hatchback, as developed very uneven wear on the rear tyres, the inside tread is worn down to nearly 1.6 mm but the outside tread is ok. My local franchise dealer says that it is caused by deformed rear axle(s) and is a known problem with C5s (yet another one !). They have applied to Citroen to relace the axle(s) under warranty and have also asked Citroen to cover the cost of replacement tyres. Does anyone know about this problem ?
  • Limit teenage driving ?? 2 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Read an interesting article on A-express website, basically says that 1 in 4 deaths caused by dangerous driving are the fault of the under 20's & the safety body "BRAKE" wants to introduce certain limits on this age group. h**p://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/57161/teen_clampdown_call.html Personally think that with the ever increasingly powerful cars available these days certain limitations are probably a good idea, although I also think that anyone buying a "very high performance" car should have to take some type of "speed awareness" course, not just under 20's.

  • BMW E36 Light / Glass replacement 8 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Anyone familiar with E36 (older model) 328i Coupe (1999)? Need to 1. Replace n/s headlamp bulb (low beam) 2. Replace o/s headlamp unit or, at the least, the outer glass Questions: 1. Do I need to take the headlamp unit out to replace the bulb? 2. If only the glass is damaged, how easy is it to simply replace the glass as opposed to the whole unit?
  • Mk3 Fiesta Owners - check underseal 11 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Just washing my '97 1.25 yesterday & noticed the underseal peeling on both n/s and o/s. There's a small patch bubbling up around a bolt adjacent cill & approx in line with the "b" pillar. I peeled it back to a sound bit & it ended up revealing a patch about 6cm dia. Gunked some underbody sealer on it.

  • Series III Jag XJ12 4 Oct 2002 (Forum)
The new XJ, see www.Jaguar.com looks even more like the XJs of 1969 to 1989. Just the boxy 1986 to 1994 XJs that broke from this fine pattern? A classic shape? At it\'s launch, the XJ was voted the best saloon in the world. certainly the new one {out next year} is the best looking saloon in the world. I see nothing from BMW or Merc that would be more worthy of the XJ\'s first tile?
  • Trigard vs. Conventional Anti-freeze? 2 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Yesterday I was in the store, and I picked up a container which looked similar; but on reading the label it is now an advanced protection, but otherwise conventional, ethylene glycol based coolant. It?s recommended by Merc and Saab, so it?s obviously good stuff, but I?m wondering if these or other mfrs would consider that Trigard would give even better protection, and what is the difference between these formulations anyway?
  • Any Tyre Experts Out There? 15 Jun 2001 (Forum)
Dear All I need to replace a pair of 225/45's and a pair of 245/40's in the next couple of weeks (both 17'', Z-rated). I currently have Michelin Pilot Sports but experience tells me that they are quite expensive. I'm sure there are better-value tyres - and I'm hoping some one can suggest them.
