Is a 2004 Range Rover worth having? 14 Dec 2012 (Ask HJ)

I miss my diesel! 23 Aug 2012 (Forum)
My diesel at home is a Ford S-Max 2.0 TDCi with 6sp slushbox auto. 140bhp. It pulls a large heavy car with a surprising amount of verve and the wave of torque is marvellous coming up a hill on the motorway. I didn't buy that engine for economy or driveability; simply because the only petrol auto was a dreadful 2.3 iron lump that no-one wanted. -
Any - Next car - undecided between petrol or diesel 23 Jan 2012 (Forum)
I am looking at DPF free models as don't really want to fork out 1k at around 100k (will be buying 2nd hand with around 60-80k on the clock) I've had a few problems with my mazda 6 so want to move to a Jap brand with minimal/no European influence as reliability is incredibly important. The current shortlist: Honda civic (old model) with the 1.7cdti OR the type-s with the 2.0 i-vtec Honda Accord with the 2.2 cdti OR with the 2.0 i-vtec Mazda 3 sport which has the 2.0 MZR engine When buying I will be looking for FSH (evidence of cambelt change with 1.7cdti). -
Peugeot 406 HDI (99 onwards) - ABS fault - ABS sensor 5 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Have checked sensor continuity and output (with a digital multimeter from the ABS unit multiplug) Three of them read 1.6Kohm and produce up to 0.5 volts AC rms, depending on the speed at which I spin the relevant jacked up wheel. One of them (rear n/s wheel, read from pins 8 & 9) reads open circuit (no continuity) and no output (as expected) when the ABS fault light is on, but reads as the other three when fault clears. An open circuit / no output reading could nean the sensor is genuinly open circuit or there is a break in one of the two leads that feed it. -

Rover 75 - Rover 75 Turbo Failure Dispute 20 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I'm out about £850 (not to mention a ruined holiday) and if the turbo failure was caused by negligence on the part of the UK garage I’d like the chance to get some or all of it back. (I have both the u/s turbo and the old filter unit). Can you advise if lack of servicing the PCV filter can cause turbo failure. If this is so, some references would be very helpful.Nissan Micra K11 - Nissan Micra not firing 20 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I've only recently passed my driving test (31st March) but am on my third car already (none have been in an accident I might add!) which is a Nissan Micra (S reg 1 litre) All was good until the other night when it was brought to my attention that my tail lights had gone. Simple fix or so I thought. It turned out that the fuse had gone and in the process some wiring had burned through.VW Golf - 2002 1.9TDi - PD - Air conditioning not working..... 3 Sep 2011 (Forum)
If a 12V feed is supplied to the compressor the system then works perfectly well and gets cold very quickly. The control unit is located behind the front bumper on the N/S. There are three permanent live fused feeds plus one ignition fused feed to the control unit which are present and correct. The control unit has a good earth. There is a 12V feed from the A/C switch at the control unit.
How's the Dualogic system's reliability? 25 Aug 2011 (Ask HJ)
Just bought my wife a Fiat Grande Punto 57 plate, first reg Dec 2007 and it's an auto which you can also use as a manual (like a mini tiptronic). Its...Ford Galaxy - Brakes fault finding master cylinder calipers 4 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Does anyone have any general advice on all this? Is it worth replacing the seals, or should I replace the whole caliper(s)? Could the master cylinder operate at a different pressure? (It is "supposed" to be the correct one... despite the different dimension mentioned above). Thanks in advance!!!!Peugeot 306 Engine problems 25 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Car is using 1.5 litres of oil (approx half dipstick) every 300 mile. I know my options are to do valve stem seals and new tappets but this means spending £££'s on a car that isnt even worth a grand. 2. When coming to a stop and dipping the clutch i.e at a roundabout. Engine never seems to settle to idle, it always drops down to 500 rpm and revs back up normal idle speed.Hyundai ix35 - Ecomony Figures 23 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Hyundai UK said the engine needed 500 miles to bed in, while the suppling dealer said 2K. The Aftersales Manager also said he was getting the low 30's in his company IX35. Surely the real world mpg should be around the figure quoted for the Combined cycle ? I have also noted and pointed out that the engine does not seem to be reaching the right temperature.audi S3 black edition(2011) manual - your Audi S3 road test 25 Mar 2011 (Forum)
It looks great in white with the standard titanium alloys - the boys in my daughter's class voted it the coolest car at the school(M5's, GTRs Range Rovers and others costing twice as much notwithstanding). Is this the best car you can buy for the money? I think it is - get yourself one before they stop making them.Peugeot 207 CC - unable to identify driver in alleged speeding 22 Feb 2011 (Forum)
The image of the passenger appears to have been pixilated out and the drivers face digetally enhanced but my husband and I look extremely alike and it is still not clear who was driving at the time. We are both in our 60's and we change drivers on a very regular basis on long and unfamiliar journeys. he also has a medical condition which make sitting in one position for a long time hard. The police are telling me that as the registered keeper I have to supply details of the driver.

I also have a few old work collegues who work at various dealers who always give me first look at their part ex\'s before ethey go through the auction which has been profitable in the past. I have space to store 3/5 cars - and dont really wish to go above this sort of ammount while i get started of. this is at my home where i will hope to sell them from.VW Polo - Have we been sold the wrong model? 23 Dec 2010 (Forum)
My worry is that this is not the car it's supposed to be but at the same time, all the features don't match up with any of the lower ranked models like S, Twist, E. To be honest I was a bit suspicious about the whole deal as we twice were meant to go and see the car and was told there was a problem getting it there and only got to see it on the same day as the deal was done and it was all a bit rushed.Nissan X-Trail Diesel (YD22DDTi engine) (2003) - X-Trail (2003) ABS and 4WD warning lights on dash. 25 Oct 2010 (Forum)
