  • MG MG ZT (2001 - 2005) - 03 2.0 (135)fuel lift pump 8 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Six months later cut out again whilst in the outside lane of the M6 doing 70 mph having already done a journey of 140 miles half an hour later it righted itself and started.Very frightening again for lady driving it ! Ran for three more days perfectly, enabling us to journey into France,Where the same thing happened, all power lost at speed. Transported to main dealer near Caen Waited 2 hours for someone to look at it by which time it started no trouble and we continued on our way,yet again!
  • Honda Accord Tourer (2003 - 2008) - iCTDI a Long term review 7 Oct 2007 (Forum)
It doesn't tramline on Pirelli P6000 Powergy tyres. The alternator blew at 20k miles, boiling the battery and ruining a holiday in France when the recovery company and Honda France were completely unable to sort it for nearly two weeks. Honda UK were brilliant - they intervened all guns blazing and got us sorted out, so due credit to them.
  • What should I get next? 29 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Easier to clean etc. 4. Must be either a hatchback or estate. 5. Must be able to cruise at 80 mph with ease. (in France, not UK Mr.Officer). Maybe a six speed box would be useful. 6. Must have good seats since three times a year I do 650 miles a day when visiting family in France. 7. I am only interested in buying new or ex demo and keep for two years and 18K miles. 8.
  • SUV - Family 7 Seater 17 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Hi all, with 4th Kid on the way I need a second car with 7 seats for the occasions where we all need to travel together (including the lesser spotted teenager in my family). Have £18k budget. will sometimes be driving as far as France so basically the more comfortable/roomy the 3rd row seats the better.  Would like something honest practical and reliable. prefer SUV as live in semi rural location that can sometimes fall foul to bad weather during the winter months.
  • The possible uptake of British Cars - Brexit 16 Dec 2020 (Forum)
With price rises on cars imported from Europe Nissan may decide to ramp up production at Sunderland to take the place of Renault cars from France. And Toyota are well placed with production at Burnaston likely to be ramped up in the event of a no deal. And has anyone heard any news from Swindon that Honda may be retaining some sort of presence.
  • South coast motorway - why isn't there one? 3 Oct 2019 (Forum)
As an occasional visitor to the south coast area I am astonished at the inadequate infrastructure. At one time a Hastings-Honiton trunk road was proposed but never built. France, Spain and Portugal have built motorways a few miles inland to service their coastal area - why on earth haven't we? There's tons of room as anyone who's flown regularly over the coast in clear weather will appreciate.
  • n/a - French 80 kph speed limit - cancelled? 17 May 2019 (Forum)

  • Honda CR-V - Whether to buy an older diesel SUV 9 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Hi there, I am going on a driving holiday to France this summer and I want to get an SUV to carry the family. An older, well maintained Honda CRV diesel was my choice (around an 06 plate) with one owner and FSH. I am looking to spend £5000. The issue I have is not knowing whether, with the new diesel MOT regs etc, I would just be wasting £5k as I would need to keep the car for 2-3 years.
  • Who makes the best steering lock? 10 Apr 2015 (Ask HJ)
What's the best steering lock on the market? I'm off to Europe and would feel better if I had one to fitted to my new BMW 3 Series.
  • Mirror at junction 17 Oct 2013 (Forum)
They also said that a mirror cannot be erected because it isn't DoT approved. Fair enough, but if France can use them on their blind junctions, I can't see why we can't get them approved. Is there anything that can be done? I only ask as I nearly had my nose taken off this weekend by a speeding motorist.
  • Shale power here it comes 14 Dec 2012 (Forum)
The US is a leader already in this innovation and market so we better get our finger out over here. Yesterday the Government lifted the ban on fracking - not too soon - while France maintains it's ban...good. That gives us an edge and a chance to kick start the economy. The howls of protest are all over the media and airwaves.  5 Live this morning was taken over by the nay sayers and one woman broke into tears causing Nicky Cambell to check later - playing samaritan -  that she was alright, .
