• Mazda 6; Mondeo; Avensis; Octavia - Hatchback versus Estate: advice sought. 27 Jan 2011 (Forum)
  Given our storage needs I'd thought that a (used; <£8k) diesel estate might suit: an Octavia, say, or a Mazda 6, Mondeo or Avensis. When looking up the luggage capacity of these vehicles, however, they seem to carry little more than the respective hatchback, with presumably some disbenefit respecting fuel efficiency.
• Mazda 6 - Broken exhaust bracket 15 Nov 2010 (Forum)
  I've got a 2l Mazda 6 hatchback with 49k miles on the clock and the exhaust has been rattling recently. The exhaust on the 2l models splits into two just before the rear silencers and the 'Y' piece has a bracket welded onto it that helps to support the exhaust at this point - it is this bracket that has come away from the pipe and is causing the rattle.

  Cars up for consideration, with a 5-6k budget, are Saab 9-5 (I've had quite a few Saabs, feel a fair degree of loyalty to the marque, and quite fancy an Aero estate), Toyota Avensis, Volvo V70, Mazda 6 and Audi (probably too expensive) Some models seem to have a lot of diesels for sale, Mazda particularly. I've read plenty of diesel horror stories here ( I think the Mazda may have featured in some of those) so have discounted diesels completely, but just thinking again and wondering if I'm right to do so?

  I've just replaced all four discs and pads on SWMBOs Mazda MX5 as it failed its MOT on these items. I have been unable to get the brake shims back in despite making sure that the pistons in the calipers are fully home. I have been doing jobs like this for years and usually manage to get them back in with a bit of juggling!
• Mazda 323 BJ Series SOHC Timing Belt 26 Jul 2007 (Forum)
  I would like to replace the timing belt on my wife's Mazda - BJ Series, November 1999, 1.3LXi, SOHC. Now done about 60000miles. I can't find a guide or manual anywhere - they all seem to stop with the previous model. I have searched owners club sites in UK and USA, but haven't found anything useful.

  If it continues, then it's back to the Mazda dealer, and then I suppose the fun will start there, or maybe not! It takes the edge off of a very nice car. I'm not being fusy expecting the car to fire-up first time everytime am I? Any suggestions?

  Hi all, I entered a competition a while back for some "special operations driver training" with Mazda - "Renesis". I've been selected an invited to the session in Edinburgh next weekend. Thing is, that's a long drive from here and they're still not saying what will be involved. If they're going to give me an RX8 for the afternoon and let me have some fun with it, I'll go, but I've a terrible feeling that it'll be ten minutes.

  To free up some garage space my girlfriend and I am selling a cherished 1990 Mazda MX-5. I would be interested if anyone in the know can advise on the value... It is... 1990 UK car MX-5 1.6 in red, 29000 miles with 2 very careful owners, garaged from new, regularly serviced including major service last year (all fuids including g/box and rear diff), only modifications from new are a CD tuner and an immobiliser.
