Buying mk4 VW Golf 30 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Are there any other horrendous costs? I don't have a spec for it unfortunately, but I know it has air con - would it have r/c/l and other toys? That's the only problem, at least the Mondy would have a CD player, etc. Also...which engine is better? The 8v or 16v 1.6? Obviously the 8v is cheaper to insure, but less economical apprently. -
mondeo TDCi Vibration under load 18 Aug 2004 (Forum)
One last question for Mondeo TDCi owners....... Do you find the car a pig to drive around town when the air con is on?? Mine stalls easily, and generally feels heavy to drive in terms of accelerating. Neil T Mondeo Ghia TDCi 130 Estate, SEAT Toledo 20VT Sport, Various Montegos... -
Daewoo Kalos? 30 May 2004 (Forum)
SG: Well it's only going to be £10,000 PG: I can get a polo for £10,000 SG: Yes but this one comes with air con, alloys, metallic paint etc etc PG: Ok ok, what's it like for safety? SG (starts talking to me like I'm a small child and she's sick of being there even though it's only the first public day): Well obviously it's a brand new car. -
Toyota Estates Camry, Carnia or Avensis? 15 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Ideally I'd like the car to have the following features: 2.0-2.2 engine preferably diesel Automatic gearbox Rear load cover Air Con Remote Locking Alloys I cover about 400-500 miles a week on average and so a reliable car is a must. The bigger the car the better as far as I'm concerned but what really I would like to know is the differences between the 3 aforemntioned models. -
Renaul Clio 1.6 RXE (Water getting in) 16 Oct 2002 (Forum)
I have been pulling my hair out trying to find out where the water can be getting in as there is no real evidence of a leak. The car does have air-con but that has not been used for ages, I have also checked for a leaking heater matrix etc but with no joy. The car does have a tilt and slide sunroof, but I can't see how water can migrate from the roof to lower down without leaving more evidence. -
Mercedes SL 22 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Not condusive to long motorway trips, of which I do quite a few. 4). When were the various facelifts done and what changes were made. It seems that around 95/96 that Air Con became Climate but what else happened through the model years. 5). What is security like. I think a tracker would be a good idea and a lot of them seem to have one but what is the standard alarm immobiliser set up like. 6). -
Now an MR-2 11 Jul 2001 (Forum)
Having re-read some magazine tests and HJs car-by-car breakdown I'm getting the feeling the MR-2 might be the better drivers car and I think it looks better and will be a bit more exclusive than an MX-5 Spoke to a Toyota dealer today - has delivery of 2 weeks as a possibility and started to sugest we negotiate on price when I mentioned imports - threw in air con for free as well. Not many used on the market, and they seem to be at very high prices, but the way he crumbled worried me a bit. What are the disadvantages from buying from Tradesales? Are the cars to the same spec and have underseal etc? -
Audi TT Coupe - Why is my coolant tank still boiling and losing? 7 Jul 2011 (Forum)
AA did a compression test and it pressurised immediately also the gas test and it hanged from blue to green or vice versa indicating a head gaskett blown. The fans also did not tuen on when the air con was switched on. The coolant tank was also boiling furiously when the engine was turned off and the heater was tepid. The service history indicated that a Waterpump had been changed around 3000 miles previously as was the timing belt. -
Nippon pong remover 12 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Postings have appeared asking how to get rid of stale air-con smells and kill bacteria in the ventilation system. Our Japanese car accessory shop is the size of a medium supermarket and carries stuff you?ve never heard of (and frequently can?t read the instructions for). -
Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.6 SE Cuts out when idle/coast- Runs Rough 25 May 2011 (Forum)
The problems also appears to be becoming more frequent, so I'm worried it's getting worse. I find that running the air con at full power seems to make it worse as well. If I stop the engine, wait 5 minutes, the car runs just fine, and so long as it's had a chance to warm up, will be fine. until the trip home... I don't think this is temperature related as I live in Perth, Aus, where the weather's pretty warm most of the time. -
Ford Focus Hatchback 1.8 TDCi 2001 - Ford Focus TDCi engine seized. 7 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I was doing 60mph on the M5 a few days ago when suddenly the engine started losing power (revs starting deceasing gradually for about 5 seconds) then it cut out. I had the air-conditioning switched on at the time (not sure if this makes any difference though as I have had air-con on many times before). The electrics were ok (cd player still on etc) but power steering and engine was gone. -
Nissan X-Trail (2007 - ) - J D power 2009 xtrail 14 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Comments such as "owners slammed the styling" now excuse me, but who buys a car that they find ugly? Must be some strange people about? It goes on air-con, audio, nav systems, i have had no problems, the air con is weak, but i read some were that some systems have smaller compressors to better economy? You should always back up the sat nav DVD disc, i always run the copy, and keep the original at home. -
MG 6 - Honda Civic - Honda Civic vs MG 6 - better value used car? 31 Oct 2017 (Forum)
7) Considered a good driver's car, with a fine balance of handling and ride comfort. 8) Rare / uncommon / not run of the mill car Cons:- 1) The manufacturer has stopped seeling the car in UK. Potential issue with availability of parts. Car is still sold in other markets. Hence can parts still be sourced? -
Ford Explorer - Stepping into the world of EVs 6 Aug 2025 (Forum)
We still have SWMBO’s Puma, and I’ve got an older XC70 for alternative use, so going electric won’t present any issues. So far, the real range is working out at about 320 miles, that’s with air con permanently on, mobile phone plugged in, radio on etc, so I don’t think there are any range anxiety issues here. It’s a very comfortable car, still getting used to it, but the early signs are promising. -
Recommendations - used mini MPV, wheelchair etc. 14 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Some storage, whether under the boot floor or otherwise would be good I also really want a heated front windscreen in this next car, as I'm fed up of waiting 5-10 minutes for the inside to defrost! Air con would be great, though not as important. Lastly, I'd like something that is reasonably low emission - with the low tax band to match! - and economical to run. I realise that I've asked a lot, but a car that gets most of them right would be great. -
Nissan Micra K12 - Advice on a Nissan Micra 7 Sep 2010 (Forum)
The dealer replaced an o2 sensor and it seems to be running smoother. It still varies its revs slightly when idle, especially if air con etc is in use. I just want some general advice about whether this may be problems caused by the extremely low milage; now I worry every time I drive it as to whether it is going to break down again. -
Mazda MPV (2000 - 2007) - 53 plate Mazda MPV - keep or replace? 26 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I'm not a frustrated rally driver with a large family and a tight budget :) When it comes to other factors in my original choice of car, the sliding rear doors and versatility offered by having 5 removeable seats were at the top of the list and I also liked the combination of electric sunroof and separate front/rear air-con but I realise some compromise on such things may be required. I guess my budget would be between £10-£12k on top of what I could get for my current car and I'd be intending to buy something 6 months to a year old. -
Another vague "what car should I buy" post! 5 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I currently drive a Porsche 944, but it's a bit aged (1986, odd bits are temperamental) and requires quite a lot of maintenance, plus it doesn't have air con and the back seats are very small. I do however love the way it looks. So, ideally, I'd like something that looks similar-ish (a bit unusual, a bit sexy), has aircon, ideally (but not essentially) has four practical seats, is newer / less maintenance hungry than my current car and costs less than say £6,000 (secondhand). -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 01 2.0 Strange non starting fault 2 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I have a peugeot 406 2.0 HDi RHZ 2001 with air con. A few months ago a valve snapped and mashed the engine up quite badly. Since then I have replaced the engine with another RHZ and put new belts on. Since the new engine has been in I have had more issues. -
Car Interior Design 2 Apr 2009 (Forum)
On some cars the dashboards are an enormous hunk of plastic (usually black too, which absorbs loads of sun and fries you or makes your air con work harder / longer / more often). Takes up space too. Current VW beetle for example. Its seems to be about a foot and a half from the windscreen to the front lip of the dash.
