  The 1968 Aston Martin DB6 Volante automatic sold for £554,000, the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 SII manual sold for £355,000 and the 1964 Aston Martin DB5 manual looked set to sell for £450,000 +. These prices are plus commission that may have been negotiated. All were RHD cars. On a day of newspaper headlines predicting months more Brexit and governmental chaos, it could be that the wise money was getting out of plummeting Sterling and into classic cars.  Full abbreviated results below, but auction commission, usually 10% + VAT (so 12%) has not been added.

  Britain's pothole 'plague' reaches crisis point 11 Oct 2013 (News)
  "We believe that a proportion of motoring taxes should be ring-fenced for the roads and then that sum that is ring-fenced has to be spent on road maintenance and fixing potholes" - Edmund King, AA President During the past 12 months, 9% of people say their car has been damaged as a result of poor road surfaces with the average repair costing £140. The most common problems are tyre damage (43%), damaged suspension (34%) and damaged wheel rims (26%). The epidemic is down to a lack of funding - less than 10% of the annual road tax bill is spent on road maintenance, leading to a short-term fix culture, with 23% of councils admitting they usually temporarily fix potholes.
