  • Small cars designed for long arm monkeys w sml ft 9 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Left (size 11 broad fitting) shoe, just about clears clutch pedal. Push seat back - then lower seat to get required leg room. It`s then like sitting in the bottom of a bucket trying to look out over the rim - gear lever - very forward and over to the left, at extreme reach of a long left arm. Crank seat up. Knees bent double. 2) The other small model.

Before, I used a Tom Tom 500 with speed camera detection program, but I don?t want to carry the bulky TT500 around anymore, could I use the same SD card in the Ford?s navigation system? 3. Or, will I be able to install a Speed Camera Detection program to the Ford SD card, which came with the car? Regards K Thanks very much for your help.
  • Scary Mountain Passes 15 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Hyundai had no problems- just a bit of clutch pong when I?d to reverse out of the way for an oncoming vehicle. What?s the best car to drive these roads nowadays? I?m thinking narrow, short, with good brakes and a torquey turbo diesel.
  • Nissan Almera Tino (2000 - 2006) - 02 1.8 twin cam oil usage 25 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Hi, had my Nissan Tino about 6 months now very reliable car the only thing is it uses a lot of oil, i had the oil changed about Xmas and im constantly topping it up every 3 - 4 weeks ,when i collected it from the service the fellow told me from empty to full it only holds 2.7 litres of oil so a gallon would nearly do you two changes ,its not leaking any where and it just went through its MoT before Xmas and no blue smoke from exhaust and 57000 miles on the clock its a 1.8 twin cam s model 2002 .....and does any one know the proper oil that goes in them its just different car part shops are telling me different types the person who done the service said he put 20/40 semi synthetic in it thx Year and engine type put in - we should start asking people to do that themselves !
  • MOT-less in Switzerland 18 Jun 2009 (Forum)
So two questions: Does anyone know if there is an insurer/broker that would look favourably on a car being MOT less, possibly with a safety report from a garage? Is there any way of getting an MOT somewhere between Geneva and the UK (yes I know that?s a long shot). Thanks Dan
  • Citroen C4 (2004 - ) - 05 1.4 Oil leak from head 29 May 2009 (Forum)
The car is obviously out of warranty (6 months) but would it be considered by the panel here that this kind of failure is acceptable at this stage of the vehicle?s life? The car is now booked in for a peek next Wednesday. The dealer is unaware of ever seeing an issue like this on a C4. How far do people believe we should be able to push this?
  • Smiling and motoring? or standard sour face? 30 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Smiling can get you into trouble, best not to walk throuigh a city centre with a smile on your face - look grim, it`s safer. Back in 84, in Ipswich (of all places) a beaming smile straight at me from a young woman driving slowly past, in traffic. Ever smiled when you hold your hand up to say `thanks` for letting you through.

  • Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 01 1.2 juddering & weird ticking noise 27 Jan 2009 (Forum)
especially low speeds 2) when you turn engine off after a journey a weird ticking noise starts up, it sounds like its coming from the engine bay near O/S headlight??? (very odd) 3) rev counter does not work on dash 4) temp gauge does not work on dash 5) rear heated screen does not work 6) this model has a onboard computer which half the features do not work, like how many miles left until you need to refuel?
  • Car to look like a cool dad 5 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Escort RS1800 - simple, working mans hot hatch and not vulgar like a Cosworth Audi Coupe mid early 90's - just love them Daihatsu Fourtrack - practical so manly Mitsubishi Colt GTi - a bit more sophisticated than a Corsa SRi Saab 900 16v 3dr - proper Saab Thats a few that sprang to mind. I guess its an unusual idea!
  • BMW 1 Series E81/E87 (2004 - ) - 05 2.9 VERY confused about 1 Series tyre pressures 2 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I recently had new tyres fitted and the new configuration is as follows: Front Goodyear 205/45 R 18 86 W Rear Goodyear 225/40 R 18 88 Y In order to check the tyre pressures I looked at the small plaque on the driver?s door pillar which specifies tyre pressures. Unfortunately the combination above does not appear at all ! The notice shows set ups for all 4 tyres designated with ?W? speed rating, or all four tyres designated with ?

  • Peugeot 607 (2000 - ) - 01 2.2 Parking Sensors Malfunction suddenly 2 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I've had the car on the PSA diag system and the Parking sensors are reported to have no malfunction, despite me getting that long beep when engaging reverse to tell me there is a problem. The PSA diag system was showing readings that the sensors thought that the object was 100's of feet away, depite the object being right behind it. Any ideas on this one??? Tris
  • Premium Derv - `twenty fairies dance in HP-Pump` 4 Aug 2008 (Forum)
You just know that bit is never going to be proved of course.. Objectively though, its the £2.50 extra paid for a tank of the `best` and with my Eco-crate, that`s 30 or so, miles lost. All before the premium fuel additive fairies even get out of bed to try to magic it back..... It is quieter.. but so what?
  • Buying a UK car exporting it then importing it! 28 Jun 2008 (Forum)
It would be insured in France by them but I'd have to get it down to SW France. Parents are in their 70's.
  • Used car suggestions 5-6k 26 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, My 2002 406 hdi 90 is getting a bit too long in the tooth, looking to swap it over summer before it quite frankly goes for not much above scrap values ( I don't have much confidence in the engine at the minute, nor the time or energy to source the problem(s)) Would ideally like minimum 2004 and with under 60/70k on the clock. Whilst I dont do many miles (around 200 a week) I would like something comfortable that will handle the motorway well for the regular long distance trips to see relatives.
  • Road accident legal advice 26 Apr 2008 (Forum)
There should have been a stop sign cause that would have given better message and it clear to see stop sign because it?s red in colour rather than giveaway. The hedges were so high that I couldn?t see the truck coming from right until it was too late. A week before my accident took place, there a similar case but the outcome was less critical.
  • Car catches fire during service. What to do? 19 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Also, their assessor said the fire was due to a short on the heater solenoid, and as it could not be forseen in combination with the fact they were not driving means it?s her problem. A couple of questions: Whose insurance does she claim on? What does she need to do next? Thanks Joe
  • Nude male motorist spotted 12 Feb 2008 (Forum)
At least I assume he was nude, as he certainly wasn't wearing anything on top, and he seemed a bit anxious. He was in his late 30's by the look of him. A perfectly ordinary looking chap - except for the lack of clothes that is. I'd got held up in a traffic queue at some roadworks. He was in front of me, driving a red hatchback.
  • Navigation, Sun and Compass (No Sat Nav;)have you? 28 Dec 2007 (Forum)
corrected (perhaps) to true North in relation to a road map or car journey/City map? Regarding the Sun, Back in the early 70`s entered Glasgow (for the first time) and entered a grid pattern of streets, no road signs and rough looking men on corners burning fires on the pavements . That was returning from the Highlands via Loch Lomond and attempting to go South.
