• Audi A5 Cabriolet 2011 - Failed Oil Consumption Test - Advice 23 Sep 2015 (Forum)
   To the point where I now use almost a litre of oil every 300 miles.  When I first noticed I contacted my local Audi Garage who informed me 'they use a lot of oil'.  I recently took the car in for an 'oil consumption test'.  It failed.  They have now sent off to Audi to see if they will repair.  They said it would take some time as there are 'quite a few claims'.

  As a side note I am curently only getting 43mpg and my fuel bill is rising by the month (as are most) I pay £180pm in fuel alone so my next car would have to be more economical As for what car I am lookikng at Seat Exeo, Skoda Superb, Or even an Audi A3 sportsback petrol or diesel not really that bothered and it must be no more than 4 yrs old. Does anyone have any expriences with these cars good/bad and how is the mpg (I think the Audi will not be suitable in that respect) I would add that I am looking for a relatively high spec or quality car just like my Audi (toys and all) Thanks for looking in

  Bought the low mileage Audi A4 Avant from dealer near Bournemouth, & it came with an AA 5 Star warranty.  One month later the PAS developed a fault that needed the hydraulic pump replacing.  Local Audi garage in Devon (good reputation & not an expensive main dealer) investigated & the work totalled £800 - however the AA warranty people have weadeled their way out of most of it by quoting for a cheap chinese crap imported part that garage rightly refused to fit + low labour cost + ridiculously short time allowance to fit it.

  Forum members may recall that over the years I have had issues with My Audi S8 missing randomly. I was talking to an Audi technician the other day who said it may be down to having the petrol tank at a low level, as this car had a factory induced missfire if the level of petrol was too low.

  Hi, I am close to completing the purchase of a new(ish) sports car from Car Giant. The problem is they will only me trade for my current car, a 1998S Audi A3 1.8 SE. The Audi is in good condition for its age with top spec and I know I can get over £2,500 for it with a (reasonably) quick sale through Autotrader but don't really want to spend time photographing it and then having people coming to my house, idiot vendors calling up and the risk of somebody being unhappy in future and knowing where I live.

  Hello, Sorry if this should be in technical section, but I decided it was more of a subject for discussion. We have two cars - one Audi A4 (petrol), and a just aquired VW sharan (TDi). Both are on the variable servicing plan - the Audi is now 15 months old, but has only covered 8K and is indicating that a service will be due in the next 6K or about 3 months time, so given the low mileage I have no problem with that, but the Sharan is the main family workhorse and will cover anything up to 20K per year.

  Morning all I'm considering buying a new shape Audi A4 1.9TDi so thought I'd do a bit of research into servicing etc. Had a test drive on Saturday - very nice btw - so thought i'd question the salesman. He told me the first service is at 18000 miles and then every 18000 after that and that it would cost between 500 and 600 quid.

  I am looking for a galvanised body and ‘rock solid’ durability and don’t want any rust issues whatsoever. Is the Audi able to deliver this? Do the general running costs and extra parts costs make it a bad option? I am only looking to spend between £2,000 and £4,000 is the A4 a worthwhile consideration in this price range.

  Hi I have a 95 audi 80 1.9 TDi. I was due to part exchange the car on Monday so I went away for the weekend thinking it would be our last drive together. 145K and I have never had any problems with her - FASH etc. Typically, when I was away she decided to rev to 2100rpm and then cough and splutter like she wasn't getting enough fuel (I had to drive from devon to Reading at 55mph!)

  Hi As I have owned diesels for many years I have not needed to worry about petrol engine servicing until now, my daughter has an Audi A1 1.2 FSi that requires a service no problem I thought until I came to the spark plugs in essence how do you A; remove the coil caps & B; get the plug spanner onto and extract the plugs? Do I really need to strip away the heat guards ect to get better access to the caps & plugs it actually looks like a garage job, all help and advice greatly appreciated.

  Hello Everyone,   I am very tempted with a locally advertised A3, it has the well respected 1.9 tdi/pd lump in it, 56reg, lowish 58kmiles. Research has told me that it is non DPF...138 k/gm,... approx late 07  Audi offered the same engine with a DPF...119 k/gm...I obviously prefer the earlier one (non/dpf), but would just like to ask  are there any differences in performance etc between the two? Also, generally what do people think of a 56 reg era A3 sportback?
