volkswagon polo 1.2 2002 - Battery problems 2 Nov 2010 (Forum)
My Mum's Polo has a history of flat batteries, three of them. the AA keep turning up and supplying "new" ones (I'm told). The advice she has recieved it to "leave it running on the drive for 20 minutes" this isn't any good as it upsets neigbours. My understanding is that if a car consistantly flattens batteries then it is the alternater at fault. the question then is; Do I replace the alernater? -

Fiord Focus Mk. 3 diesel estate - Inaudible direction indicator warning sounder 26 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Particularly as I have got older I have increasing difficulty in hearing the indicator sounder [ especially on a motorway at 70mph]; the dashboard flashing light is not readily noticed in bright sun light. My driving style is such that often the the automatic cancelling does not operate. Any suggestions how to amplify sound or self cancel after a selected number of flashes/bleeps (say 10). -
May I extend my sympathies to English road users 18 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Cos I was going nuts whilst in Cornwall, mostly driving between Marazion (near Penzance) and Helston. I absolutly could NOT keep track of what the correct speed limits were as it varied from 60 to 30, sometimes via 50 & 40, sometimes not, and indeed sometimes apparently quite at random. -

Nissan Micra K11 - Engine management light: main dealer only? 10 Aug 2010 (Forum)
01 Micra 98k Engine management light has come on. Its a white engine icon. Oil, water and engine temp are OK. Car starts and drives OK. Is this potentially serious? I suppose I will need to read the ECU code somehow. Is this a main dealer only job, or will a backstreet garage be able to do this? Given the age, mileage and bodywork of the car, I'm not keen on paying main dealer prices. -

Ford Focus - Hardly any fresh air 21 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Just aquired a 2004 Ford Focus before that I had an old N reg Micra My question relates to the fresh air intake on the car. When driving there never seems to be all that much fresh air entering the cabin. The car soon feels a bit stuffy until I turn on the blower then I get plenty of fresh air. Is this standard with newer cars as I am used to the comfortable and plentiful ventilation I get in my 1983 VW camper? -

Unlucky - but lucky - seen in passing - incidents 11 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I remember driving past a car at the side of the road on the York bypass about 20yrs ago. The driver was sitting there with his white shirt drenched in blood and guts. His windscreen was concave and in the centre of this area the remains of a cock pheasant could be seen, mostly retained in the glass.
