  As the weather is getting warmer im getting worried about not having cooling fans working. I understand that there are 2 speeds slow for air con and cooler engine temp and fast for higher temp and high air con pressure. Since i bought the car last oct i have never been able to get the fans to kick in. Looking at this yesterday i couldnt locate the briton sensor (aparantly brown connector) near to the thermostat housing to bridge the connection and hopefully kick the fans in.

  I might also add that I think it is interesting that car mags have tables at the back which tell you about whether cars have air-con, alloys, etc - but they never seem to incorporate spare wheel choice in these tables. What do other Backroomers think?

  I took it to Halford's, they couldn't replace it because the controls for the stereo also control the heater/air con.  I've tried everything I can think of to get it out and failed. I rang the main dealer to ask how much it would cost to replace it; £600!     Any ideas what I should do?

  Just bought an 07 Golf TDi. Heater works fine initially ( temp turned fully up, air con light off ), then when I turn it down slightly it goes cold and when I turn the dial back up to the max it remains cold. The fan works ok on all speeds.  Has anyone experienced this problem & is it expensive to fix?

    When the engine has been running for some time, the idle quite often hovers around 1100-1400 revs and will not go down.   Whether or not electrical is on e.g. the headlights/air-con, etc.... it makes no difference.   Any ideas guys?

  Hi, i have anb r reg 2.1 td, the problem is there is a clicking noise from the heater blower. some times when you turn on the Recirculation button it stops but not all the time. also if i turn on the air con this seems to help. any one got any ideas thanks

  yes my partner is malaysian they have these cars out there too seems a good deal versus a uk corolla/arius certainly a proper auto instead on MMT would be good i liked them of course as an import they would be useless as they come standard with air con but no heater... lots of protons out there as well, actually very impressed with the standard of home built cars they have

  The company where I work want to install air-con into an old building (converted barn), but there are issues with installation of the full-blown jobs because of the roof, or something. The alternative I am trying to get them to install are those wall-mounted jobs - I know Toshiba make these, are there any other manufacturers ?

  Hi Have a 1998 1.6 auto Polo CL I was wondering if it's possible to have an after market Air Con unit fitted to this model. And roughly how much it would cost. ? Also does anyone know if this particular Model came with ABS as standard or was that an option. ? Last Question how difficult would it be to change the Bulbs in the Heater Display has anyone done this ?

  Hello all, I have an Audi 80 F-reg, which a couple of weeks ago decided to leak water into the footwells. Any ideas why this is?? The car has no air con and it was a dry day so water wasn't coming in from the out side. I have had a quick look but can't see any leaking pipes and it hasn't done it since. Many thanks for any help

  (checked regually allways at the reccomended marked level) Got back into the car and the fan was blowing cold air (air con was off!!) squeezed the top coolant hose from/to the rad and it appeared to be empty with no squishing noise... any ideas anyone? owning VW's is starting to get expensive!!!..
