  • Nissan Leaf Voted European Car of the Year 29 Nov 2010 (News)
This is the first time in the 47-year history of the annual competition that the award has gone to an electric vehicle. Nissan LEAF’s rivals included vehicles from brands such as Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Dacia, Ford, Opel/Vauxhall and Volvo.  “The jury acknowledged today that the Nissan LEAF is a breakthrough for electric cars. Nissan LEAF is the first EV that can match conventional cars in many respects,” said Håkan Matson, President of the Jury, Car of the Year.

  • Low Emission Cars Now Lowest Depreciators 9 Apr 2009 (News)
A new Glass’s league table (see below), which ranks vehicle segments according to the strength of their residual values, highlights the impact of changing patterns of used-car demand as consumers seek to reduce their motoring costs. Vehicles in the city car segment, including the Citroen C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo, are now the slowest depreciating in the UK, retaining an average 49.5 per cent of their purchase price after three years and 36,000 miles. This represents a remarkable turnaround – as recently as 2006, vehicles in this segment languished in ninth place in the Glass’s depreciation table.

  • eBay Auction Report 11 Apr 2005 (News)
It was in very good (but not quite outstanding) condition, had covered 39,500 miles, had air conditioning and a years MOT. It made £1,100. Under £1,000 Another big Citroen was sold on eBay this evening. The green, diesel, 96N XM 2.0VSX with 11 months MOT, a fsh and 118,000 miles made £750. £645 was enough for a 95M Rover 214SEi with half-leather seat facings, 7 months MOT, a fairly recent new head gasket and cambelt and 69,000 miles.
  • eBay Auction Repoert 3rd April 2005 3 Apr 2005 (News)
In fact, it made the £510 the owner wanted for the 120k 92J plate. A 96P, 55k, blue Citroen Saxo 1.1LX with 10 months MOT made £880.01. However the 7 owners, lack of a radio and a randomly illuminating airbag light may make it seem less appealing. This compares to the £300 paid for an 89F white Micra 1.2GS with 65k.

  • How to get the cheapest classic car insurance for young drivers 6 Nov 2018 (News)
Luckily, some of the specialists that offer cover to younger classic drivers started life during the modifying hey day of the late-1990s and early-2000s. All those hopped up Citroen Saxo owners and Max Power reading modders had to get insurance somewhere… In truth, modifying classics is nothing new. Not so long ago it was referred to as keeping them on the road thanks to the automotive industry’s rather relaxed attitude to research and development.
  • Driver's insurance cancelled after insurer erroneously claims he was doing 164mph 4 Sep 2017 (News)
The incident happened at 2pm on 28 August 2017 (Bank Holiday Monday) when Hastings Direct claimed its telematics system caught James Bralant travelling at 164mph in his 2011 Citroen DS3 on the M1. His variant of the DS3 has a top speed of just 112mph. Despite appealing the claim, he was told that there is no dispute process.  Hastings Direct notified him that his policy would be cancelled after seven days  and would only allow him to submit a formal complaint - a process that takes four to eight weeks.
  • Opinion: Keep your friends close and your mechanics closer 16 Aug 2016 (News)
He lived down the road from me, and was immediately magnetised by its open bonnet as he trundled past in his Citroen C15 van. Having established the fault was a little more serious than first suspected (it was the main ECU control module, unique to the Coupe, and I had some searching to do just to find the part) he immediately solved my short term transport problems by lending me the C15, which, bearing in mind he’d known me for 15 minutes, was rather trusting of him.
  • Happy Birthday: MG Z cars 10 May 2016 (News)
The ZR160, with a variable valve controlled (VVC) version of the 1.8-litre K-Series, was a genuine hot hatch, in the spirit of cars like the Peugeot 205 GTI and Citroen Saxo VTS. Build quality was flaky, but grins were guaranteed. As a marketing ploy, then, the Z-Cars were an impressive feat of engineering. Of substance over style. Even the ‘cooking’ versions, namely the ZR 105 (1.4 K-Series) and ZS 120 (1.8 K-Series) were rewarding to drive, with great handling, while the appearance became a little less brash as they became a common sight on the roads.
  • What makes Drive it Day so good? 27 Apr 2015 (News)
But the staple of Triumphs and MGs was present and correct, along with some more 'traditional' metal in the form of beautiful Bentley R Type belonging to event organiser Alan Osborn, plus oddities from Ginetta and Citroen, along with exotica in the form of an Aston Martin DBS and a Jensen Interceptor. It’s a very broad cross-section – that was one of the nicest things about the meet and fun run, and one of the best things about our hobby.
