  Hi We have a 3 -series BMW engine (I think it is an E20). It refuses to start. We can hear it is firing on all but one cylinder. The petrol is going through the system. Can anyone pin point what I should test on this vehicle Also, where can I obtain more information about this engine on the net?

  I'm heading to a bmw auction in Bridgwater next week by BCA and the cars up for sale are amazing. I received the list via email and they are all fairly used cars with low mileages, log books, and all that stuff. I want to buy a 1 series and the options are 116i, 118d, 118i and 120d Does anyone know what price these usually start at and sell for at auctions???

  They visited the nearest K-F centre who found no fault with any wheel (thereby claiming to have saved them loads o'money). I checked all 4 tyres when they returned here - 37psi all round. What sensing system does BMW use, and what event might have triggered the false warning?

  The BMW i know is okay, as i used to run a 328i some years back and averaged 30mpg. Also. BMWs tend to make the driving experience feel special. any comments \ thoughts \advice most welcome

  Hi Can any one help. i have a bmw 316i and the heater has stopped working . well it works now and again but mostly not at all now. i have to top up the rad every couple of days with a small amount of water. there is no leaks and the hg was done about 5 months ago and there is no water getting into the engine or visa versa. has anyone any ideas what it could be. thanks

  I need to change the gearbox oil on a 1997 bmw 318 tds(m41 engine) According to the owners manual the specified oil is denoted by a sticker on the gear box casing...but mine appears to be missing. Would appreciate any info on the recommended oil for this model as most main dealers I have contacted all seem a bit vague on the matter.

  I've managed to lose the little adaptor that fits into the locking nut on my 51 plate 330i Sport - I've been trying to Google a solution and seem to hear a lot about a Gaitor Grip and also a Laser 3192. Would either of these be able to remove the bolts from the BMW alloy? Repeated vehicle details chopped from subject line

  The car was recovered to a local gearbox centre who after tests and a strip down advised I needed a replacement (recon) auto box. Cost £2000. I'm now advised that BMW might have replaced the box free?? or at least made a contribution as it should not have failed?? Is this true?

  Driving past my local Stephen James BMW Mini dealership the other day, I saw, outside on the forecourt a new (presumably) Mini convertible in white/cream with a price tag of some £27k+, in the windscreen. Doing only a modicum of research, I could not find what type of Mini this could be to cost that amount of money - does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

  I have a 5 series BMW, bought recently, and two days ago the petrol guage was showing half way between empty and a quarter full. The low fuel warning light wasn't glowing, which comes on normally when you have around a gallon and a half left in.

  Hi all - hope someone can help. I have a BMW 316i and the main headlamp bulb has blown. I am a complete novice when it comes to cars and need some advice/help. I would like to change the bulb myself. does anyone know which bulb i need (it is the main bulb that has gone).

  I have recently purchased a BMW 525i auto as a bit of a project. Problem is it drives as though its stuck in one gear (3rd I think) and is very slow on pick-up and sounds as though the automatic clutch is slipping. Also the wee message display below the speedo reads TRANS something and to refer to the owners manual... very handy... if you actually have one!!

  thank you everyone for your comments on my lexus or bmw forum. i must admit bmw are well engineered and build quality is superb. but i have noticed they look like clones of each other now 3, 5, 7 series. no character anymore. i bet there's bmw owners who have loads of problems with there cars and been converted to lexus. they use to be quite exclusive but there common as other cars now. the new honda civic is going to scare the blue rinse brigade its aimed at the younger market.

  I've checked fuses and contacts on rear lid, all ok. She's in for a service next week and I'd really like to get it fixed before having to pay bmw for the privelege. I've looked for relays but can't find them. Any help is very gratefully recieved. Mike.

  Now I've stuck with BMW through all this Bangle business but even I confess the 7 wasn't the nicest looking thing in the world - neither was the 5. But I knew they were good cars. However, who will join me in staying the 645 is absolutely gorgeous?
• BMW 530d service- minimum for a stamp 9 Sep 2004 (Forum)
  Need to sell the 530d. It still has one green service light illuminted, but we have decided to send it to BMW for a service so it has the full five green lights at point of sale. Last service was an inspection 2, so i presume the next is just an oil service. What i want to know is, will they stamp the book if they find, for example, the rear pads are a bit low, and i decide not to let them replace them while its in for the oil service?

  Not that I want to dismantle the car, rather would like to learn a lot more about how it was put together. Nothing seems to be available for private owners from BMW themselves. USA based sources of technical manuals are plentiful but don't cater for the 320d which is not actively marketed there. Haynes haven't published a manual for this vehicle as yet. Any ideas anyone?

  HI re: bmw 318 i 1999 model auto My car recently had its air mass sensor changed and know all is well, plugs were changed as well. On two occassions recently when gradualy slowing down at traffic lights the car started to idle roughly as if it was about to cut out.

  Has anybody seen this recurring fault with the BMW airbag system. The fault manifests itself with the airbag warning light failing to go off after the car is started. I'm now up to the 4th visit to the dealership to see if I can get it rectified.

  I replaced the antifreeze on friend\'s 5 series bmw 6 cyl. 1994. Job done... started it up, the temp. started rising well over half way, steaming all over the engine compartment. Tried to bleed it again on those two bleeders on top of radiator and on thermostat housing, no improvement.
