I have a 330Cd Auto 2004 with 77000 miles. Recently I experienced no 'drive' in any gear. The car was recovered to a local gearbox centre who after tests and a strip down advised I needed a replacement (recon) auto box. Cost £2000. I'm now advised that BMW might have replaced the box free?? or at least made a contribution as it should not have failed?? Is this true?

Because I'm doing my DD before contacting them!!!

I think if you had taken the car to a BMW dealer originally you might have stood a chance but not now.

BMW do generally contribute at least 50% of the part costs if the car is under 100k and not over 5 years old - provided it has been serviced by BMW.
Of course you have to ask for it, they don't offer it.
