Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 00 2.0 HDI Major Problems - help please? 1 Apr 2009 (Forum)
remember i was originally quoted £15 for a heater plug relay). Anyway peugeot said errors coming up were to do with pressure regulator gone causing the car to run on after keys taken out, also swarf was found in the back of the filter housing. i need to know if the running on of the car when keys taken out IS the pressure regulator and do i need a peugeot Pressure regulator (which are prooving hard to find) or is a universal one ok? -
Reaction to cyclist 20 Nov 2008 (Forum)
if his where am I supposed to cycle on that junction given that cycling on the kerb is 2 "wrong" lanes away from where I need to be and the more I go along the kerb the more I run out of time to cross back to the right hand lane? -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.6 8V Engine idle problems 18 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I bought a new Idle Air Control but unfortunately when it arrived it was slightly banged up with a few marks on the casing (very poorly packed) but couldn't get a replacement because it had already been signed for! I tried it anyway hoping it would be okay. Engine was running better so i figured it must be fine but after about 15 mins when the engine got hot it started to idle very roughly. I fitted new spark plugs, HT Leads, Coil Pack, Air Filter, I cleaned out the air intake pipes throttle motor and replaced the EGR Valve but still have the same problem. -
Daihatsu Charade (2003 - 2006) - 2000 mile report 29 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Ride is very good for a small car, body control does suffer due to narrow track but its not very noticeable in the normal run of things, just when you get quick changes of camber. Engine is gruff but it is a nice sound, far better than any 4 cyl unit( and very refined for a 3 cyl ), accompanied with some gearbix whine, but in a way, its akin to driving a 3cyl Austin Mini, however with a very slick gearbox. -
Replacement for 306 dturbo 23 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Having spoke to my local garages lately, they're mentioning getting a lot of PSA diesels in, but being a garage, ofcourse they're going to run into problem common rails... however, I really dont fancy spending £1k+ to get an injector seen to. Thanks in advance for advice! -
Renault Megane Dynamique 1.9dC1 16 Mar 2007 (Forum)
If it sticks in the closed position the exhaust gas temperature will rise causing a) the turbo bearings to fail and b) engine oil into the induction system. This will cause the engine to go on running until it has consumed all its oil and then it will go bang.Problems with EGR valves in Renault dCi engines are often the cause of rough running when the valve is stuck in the open position as well. -
Hi All - What are your views ? 7 May 2005 (Forum)
& seems to think it's MY problem ?? Is it my problem ?? I really feel for this guy if he has had a run of bad luck in 7 days, but for only doing "2 or 3 local runs into town" he's found an awful lot of troubles from a car that we did 1000 miles in during a 2-3 week period (mostly hard motorway work on business). -
A bad experience at VW today 25 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Strong letter to Dealer Principal will be on its way soon and we are off to another dealer. I feel better after that. By the way: does the cat get damaged if the fuel runs out? -
Audi 80 vs BMW 3-series for £2,000 20 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I make it a golden rule never to consider anything without a full service history, which means there are a lot more Audis in the frame than Beemers. 8 valve 80's seem to abound more than the 16-valve version, but my brother has done his homework on the insurance front and seems dead set on the 16-valve version. Has anyone had experience of running one of these cars, and knows what to look for? I've consulted Car-By-Car Breakdown of course, but any other points would be much appreciated. I used to run a 1984 80 quattro which was good as gold, but I have no experience of later Audis. -
Czech Observations 20 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Actually, as a display of technology, awesome is not the word for it. As one example, the roof has an (LCD?)panel to allow air conditioning to run when the car if left unattended, and infact, the air conditioning and heater can be controlled from up to 1500 metres away by radio handset. I have never really been one to admire anything Tutonic, but this car, especially with W12 engine, impressed me deeply. -
Ka problem-what to do next? 16 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Hi all, I left my T-reg Ford Ka3 in for its 3 year service yesterday morning to my local Ford dealer (where I bought the car). It only has 6,100 miles up and has been running perfectly. I called them around 3pm yesterday to check that it would be ready and the girl who answered at service reception said that there had been a problem-one of the spark plugs had snapped off and they were currently trying to 'dig it out' and that therefore it may not be ready by the end of the day. -
Leon glitch 16 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Loss of overall power and reduced fuel consumption (down from an excellent 58+ mpg to an average 53 mpg on the display) have also been noticeable. This time, when it first happened, I kept the engine running and took the car to the dealer again straight away, so he could see the traction control warning light and run the diagnostic check while it was still illuminated. The computer recorded an unspecified fault at first - then after switching the engine off and on again, it found no fault and found no memory of a fault, which he said it should have. -
Audi a1 sport back 2011 - Cylinder 4 misfire 1.2 tfsi 24 Sep 2025 (Forum)
The car can drives ok in 1st and 2nd then struggles over 2000rpm in any gear after. If you keep the revs under this the car runs fine. If you put the boot down and lift the revs the EPC engine management light come on and car goes into limp mode. Switch off ignition and car comes out of limp mode and drives the same. The 2 codes coming up are p030400(cylinder 4 misfire) & P130A00(cylinder disabled due to electrical fault) the Audi has been in 2 separate garages who cannot find the fault. -
VOLVO EC40, twin engine, electric - Range not as advertised 9 Jan 2025 (Forum)
Hello I would like some advice on the above which I purchased Sept with fixed finance in place. The range advertised is 331 but getting 230 on run London to Oxford. I fully appreciate variants as have had another Volvo for 3 years with an older battery with less capacity and I am getting similar range. I would realistically expect to get 280/300 range. -
Hyundai Getz 2004 CDX - Smoke/oil leak in Hyundai Getz 2 Nov 2024 (Forum)
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on what might be the cause of this issue with my 2004 Getz (automatic), which normally runs very smoothly. After periods of not having driven the car for a few days, or when making shorter journeys of under 3 miles, when the engine stops, you can smell smoke and a burning clutch or oil-like smell coming through the vents. -
best hosepipe for car washing? (limited space) 4 Sep 2024 (Forum)
I need a hosepipe for washing my car, but I live on the ground floor of a block of flats. To make it work, I would have to run the hose from my kitchen mixer tap through the window and out to the street, which is about 9 meters away. Luckily, there are no pavements to worry about. My main concern is that I have very limited indoor storage space, so I'm looking for the most compact solution. -

MG ZS (1.00Ltr) (Exclusive) (2023) - Help: Tickover Revs on MG ZS 2 Feb 2024 (Forum)
I have been back to the garage and they don't seem to be able to cure the problem, and have even said that it is normal on recent occasions, although after a test run, they have admitted that parking might be effected due to the engine speed. I am aware that from cold it should start high but then reduce as the engine gets hot but we find that it never drops below 1000/1100 even after a long drive. -
Yaris Hybrid/Mini/Jazz/Zoe/ID4! - Quality Small Hatchback - Which One? ?? 5 Jan 2024 (Forum)
My reasoning for these cars I'm reviewing are I drive around two under 12's for school runs and activities, 80% is urban short distant driving. Hence for parking I'd like a small car, but I would love a little more space than the Yaris Hybrid offers in the back, and could do without the headache of EV charging. -
Old SYM Wolf 125 (drum brakes) - Motorcycle Fork Strip 20 Nov 2023 (Forum)
shockends1920×2560 182 KB The two forks are different designs (one had a plug thing on the narrow end which I assume restricts the oil flow, the other more oil flow ports) so at least one isn’t original, unless SYM production control is very informal. These are both pretty knackered so IF I get it running again (old motorcycle wiring is REALLY horrible) and I keep it I’ll probably be replacing them, and would like to get completely strippable versions, though I dunno where I would source these in Taiwan and expect it would be difficult to explain the requirement.
