  .  A top performer here was the second Golf BlueMotion with a combined fuel consumption of just 3.8 l/100 km (74.3 mpg), equivalent to 99 g/km of CO 2 .  New assistance systems, such as Light Assist automatic main beam management and Park Assist, made the sixth generation the most advanced Golf to date. Golf Mk VII:  On 4 September 2012, Volkswagen celebrated the world premiere of the seventh generation Golf.  The weight of the new Golf was reduced by up to 100 kg, thereby reversing the often cited upward weight spiral.  Fuel economy was hence also improved by up to 23 per cent.

  This '68 car has been verified as a 4-4-2 High-performance V8 Sports Coupe built in the Lancing Michigan plant and is fitted with automatic transmission and a 445 cubic inch motor. Repainted in Teal Blue metallic and trimmed with silver blue vinyl, it was purchased by the vendor in the USA and is now UK registered. Values for the 442 Series are rising and this car is expected to sell for around £14,000.

Book for an 05/54 reg with 13k miles works out at £12,250, plus £775 for the autobox, so that’s £13,025.

  Many of the cars had been modified for filming, with V8s under the bonnets and competition automatic transmissions. The stunt double pair of 1937 Chevrolet 'Yellow' cabs also had special hydraulic brakes to throw them into drifts, while, though four 1939 Buick 8 Model 40s looked outwardly identical, one had a V8 under trhe bonnet instead of the original straight eight.

  Aftermarket Stop Start improves economy up to 25% 12 Sep 2010 (News)
    The SpeedStart B-ISG system can integrate with many powertrains and has been demonstrated to crank 2.0-litre diesel engines and gasoline engines up to 4.4-litres.  It also accommodates automatic transmissions.  From an OEM perspective, this can be a very attractive cross-platform solution.   There is very little modification to the base engine design or vehicle electrical architecture enabling vehicle manufacturers to apply the technology at relatively low cost.

So was a 1,194 mile 2005/55 reg Vauxhall Astra 1.8 Life automatic estate for £8,750 (list price £15,420). Both in the Motability section. Manual C Class diesels seem to be taking a hit too. £8,600 bought a 52k mile 2001/51 C220 CDI Avantgarde and top bid for a 91k mile 2002/52 C220 CDI Classic estate was £7,625.

  The 1968 Aston Martin DB6 Volante automatic sold for £554,000, the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 SII manual sold for £355,000 and the 1964 Aston Martin DB5 manual looked set to sell for £450,000 +. These prices are plus commission that may have been negotiated.

    Another example: two 07-reg LandRover Discovery 2.7TDV6 automatics. The relatively base spec car with 43k miles sold for £15,400, while the HSE with 48k miles sold for £23,300. Base spec doesn’t sell. HSE does. Fact of life. But, of course, something for a punter who wants a Disco 3 but doesn’t have much money to take advantage of.
