Ford Fiesta - Duratec 1.25 Auxiliary Belt Tensioner 28 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Hi, I recently had a water pump and thermostat housing failure on my 2006 1.25 Fiesta Style. The RAC towed me to a garage, who replaced the failed parts, plus the auxiliary belt as it was coated with coolant. I've since taken my Fiesta to another garage (who I believe to be a lot more reputable...) who have said that the auxiliary belt tensioner is missing, there is just a gap where it should be. -

Volkswagen Polo 1.9tdi - Diesel into petrol vehicle 26 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I unfortunately filed up my Polo with unleaded fuel instead of diesel! Luckily I've noticed it before starting up and after towing etc. got it drained and they reasured me there will be no damage. Let's hope! Back at the filling station the manager showed me a New 'Dieselsmartcap' that are on the market. It replaces my current Diesel cap. -
Mazda CX-5 - New Mazda CX-5, what do you think. 30 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I looking to change cars in the next 18 months Ive never had a Mazda before, but the 175bhp engine in the upcoming CX-5 looks really good on paper. The only issue i see is the car may be too light to tow my 1556kg caravan. What do readers think to Mazda reliability and dealers in the S.Yorkshire area. I currently am on my second Xtrail, a 171bhp version, but find the 2L version not great on low end torque, as my previous 2.2 diesel was.So the Mazda 2.2 twin turbo promises good torque from low revs upto a high 5.5K revs. But with class leading emission's, and economy. -
Volkswagen Tiguan - VAG 2.0 TDI -- fanbelt and cambelt problems 17 Sep 2011 (Forum)
It's been at a local independent for 3 weeks having a problem diagnosed. The car cut out and would not restart, so was towed to the garage. They say that diesel has leaked onto the 'fanbelt' (their words, not mine), resulting in the 'fanbelt' breaking. They say this, in turn, has caused 'cambelt problems'. I don't know this engine, so can anyone please tell me what the aux drive belt drives (water pump / alternator / power steering?) -
2000 MITSUBISHI SHOGUN 1.8 PININ GLS GDI - Shogun Pinin problems 28 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I basically want a cheap 4x4 by the winter months for the bad weather and to go to the stables in my nicer, newer car is getting trashed going to the stables everyday. I do not intend to tow with it, I dont really want to spend more than £1k as it really will be a 2nd car. I have also looked at a mid 1990's disco but worried about costs on them -
FIAT Punto - Punto died whilst driving 28 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Help would be appreciated before I go down the route of trying to fix it myself or having it towed to a garage- depends upon my sense of humour today! By the way, my wife also has a punto which is exhibiting almost demonic behaviour of the windscreen wipers. Fitted a new wiper motor etc. and the problem started from there - any advice on this would be also greatly appreciated. -

Honda Accord Tourer - Automatic Transmission Fluid 12 May 2010 (Forum)
I wish to keep the car for as long as possible so am wondering if changing the ATF every 2 years is ok (my annual milage is circa 15,000). Also I annually tow a camping trailer (weight of 280 kg) to the west coast of France (from West Yorkshire) - is this an issue with this auto box ? Should I go to a Honda dealer or a specialist auto gearbox company for the ATF change ? -
Nissan xtrail 2.2 di? 2003 - Rattling under load? 11 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I have a 2003 2.2di sport, when i drive it underload when towing or solo between 2k to 2.5k rpm the car makes a noticeable rattling very much like a 'pinking' noise. It only does it between these revs when accelarating once it reaches 3000rpm it goes away, it doesn't seem to lose power or smoke anymore than normal. -

Chrysler Neon (1996 - 1999) - 99 2.0 Steering column jammed stuck in park! 11 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Tried tapping it with a hammer, all sorts, nothing. It is in park so I cant move it. Waiting on a tow truck. I phoned Chrysler they want £200 to replace ignition barrel. Apparently its a Chrysler only part and if I was to buy it on its own they dont supply keys!! They say it has to go to be re-programmed. -

Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - 02 1.9DCi Smoking HELP!!!! 7 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I was driving yesterday and suddenly when diesel engine revved up to it max, I took me foot of the accelerator and still the engine revved, to turned the ignition off, but still the engine revved. I had to stall it to stop the engine. I towed the car home and topped up the oil and water, I started the car OK, but there is a continuous stream of white smoke, again the engine revved to its max. The EGR valve is ok open and closes correctly. -
Passed on M40 18 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I had occasion to go to Oxford yesterday and on way back I was tootling along at 70 when a Ford 375 Consul passed me - now that was a shock as my old Zodiac never felt safe at that speed - it was the grubbiest one I have ever seen - painted matt black with painted on cat paw marks- the rear number plate was missing so not sure of year - anyway I had to pass it just for pride sake - then further on I passed a car towing a hot rod not in too good condition either - then getting close to Warwick turn I passed a nice looking pink 50's Buick - very low to ground (my type of car) - so anyone any idea what event these cars might have been to? -
Peugeot Boxer (2000 - 2007) - 1999 2.5 non starter 5 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Tried restarting and engine turned over fast a couple of times and then nothing at all, completely dead. Towed home, recharged battery, and still no response from starter. Battery is fine, checked main earth cable from gearbox to wing, that's fine too. I have sidelights, but no headlights, radio works fine, etc. -

The tyre is dunlop SP20 215/65 R16 98H. (But of a different size.) -

My question is if the car actually has to have insurance regardless of any third party cover from other insurance policies how was the policeman who drove it away covered to do so.. Wouldn?t the car have to be towed / flatbed to the impound. Does anyone know if there is a procedure document which the police have to follow??? many thanks for your replys.. Tim
