Isuzu Dmax 2014 - DPF issue 28 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Hi Hope someone can help Bought a new Isuzu Dmax just over a year ago and having some problems. The oil level is rising. Doing some reading on this apparently it's something to do with the DPF cyle and the fact I do a lot of short runs. Can't change my work so need to go on damage limitation. Had the oil changed once between services as I did not like the idea of diesel swishing about in the oil but the level is rising quite quickly and still not got to it's first service at 12000 miles. -
Ford Transit Connect - Van only starts on easy start 14 Apr 2011 (Forum)
When started, it runs and drives fine but it just will not start on its own. Air and fuel filters have all been changed and oil and oil filter is all newish and i have also replaced the crank sensor but the problem is still there. I have now run out of idea's so thought id post the question here. -
Primera 97 1.6 Preventative Maintenance 3 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Little bit under powered up hills but pretty good/comfortable to drive and does 40 MPG on mixed driving. I replace the filters and plugs every 20K and the oil and oil filter every 6-7K. Always use genuine Nissan parts. Too cheap not to. It is up to 127K now. For continued reliability is it worth changing The manual gearbox oil. I saw that 75W-85 is recommended on here. -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 04 1.8 Oil Warning Light 8 Nov 2015 (Forum)
The mechanic asked if it had ever had an oil change (its done 60,000) and to my knowledge it had not, so he changed the oil and the filter, ran it and said the light flickered off. I paid the 60 or so quid and drove it away no problems. Never used them before though as our regular is on holiday. -
Synth oil solution - cold cranking & seized engine 23 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Performed an emergency oil change to Mobil 1 0w40 the next day. Cold cranking at -6c was much faster - as fast as with a warm engine on the previous oil. Of course - I appreciate you can speculate forever on whether full synth is `worth it` - but those examples have me convinced it is. -
Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 2003 - 1.4 petrol using a lot of oil. 4 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I am using the correct oil as I checked with VW garage, and even 2 months after a oil change from the VW service, the light came on. I have taken the car to two seperate garages asking if there is a leak, however nothing can be found, but it is costing me loads in oil (about £20 a bottle!) -
Toyota Carina E 1.6 auto 1995 - Unipart engine oil and Comma auto transmission oil 19 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Recently bought a Carina E from a friends Dad, it's been serviced each year at Toyota, but I'm not prepared to pay their prices and will do stuff I can do myself ie. oil changes etc. The manual states oil can be 15/40, 10/40 or even 20/50, all mineral type, and I believe it's filled with 15/40 at present. The Toyota invoice only says 'engine oil' so no help there. -

Dipsticks...true oil level. 14 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Some owners must be thinking the lower reading is the true one as i've checked the oil level out of interest on several used models of our truck and found they have far too much oil in. I've measured the correct amount of oil in when changing and when serviced by Toyota it's spot on the correct (front) mark too...yes i've turned the stick round before you wags fire up..;) Wonder how many cars are running round with far too much oil in, and what if any damage is likely to follow. -
Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 03 2l td oil pressure light on 28 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Had car for 2 years, after 6 months with about 60,000 on it the oil pressure light came on and found out turbo casing had cracked.Had new turbo fitted under warranty.A year later after finding an oil leak a new intercooler and oil cooler were fitted under warranty.4 months on with no warning lights or anything the engine seized.Got a recon engine but when engine was put in and started everything seemed ok but over 1000rpm the low oil pressure light comes on,pressure switch was changed and no leaks but still the same.Garage say it could be the oil pump ? -
Audi A4 avant B6 130 Tdi 2002 - Audi A4 Oil sensor warning light 10 May 2014 (Forum)
When your yellow oil level warning sensor light comes on and it is intermittant do what I did'nt. Long story, changed oil sensor when we did oil change, what I didn't know was independant mechanic used after market one. -
An update and a question 24 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I paid $1700 and sold for $1400 after 9 months and 40000km (yes 40000km). The bomber was a 1987 Daihatsu Charade 1.0 CX. Utterly reliable. I had the cambelt changed when I bought it, and apart from one CV boot, a headlight adjustment, an oil pressure switch (I think), a door knob (a relative broke it off when they came out here) spark plugs and fuel and air filters, it has only had oil and filter changes every 5000km as per the manual. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.6 Dipstick reading 16 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I know the importance of annual oil changes and fortnightly checks, and that the oil light isn't a low oil warning light etc, so I don't intend this post to generate polite "told you so"-esque responses. A few dipstick checks (cold engine) revealed no reading on the dipstick (and still no reading after a short journey). -
Kia Sportage 1.7crdi. - Mixing engine oil. 9 May 2022 (Forum)
Just done an oil change of my Kia Sportage 1.7 diesel. Capacity is 5.3 litres and i've put 5 litres of Castrol edge 5w30 C3 in so need a bit more. Probably get called a tight a**e but i've got half a litre of Castrol Magnatec 5w30 C3 left over from something else. -
Vauxhall Corsa - Corsa-C 1.4 chain engine sudden oil pressure loss 23 Jun 2014 (Forum)
MILs Corsa-C suddenly developed a oil light and lots of rattling on motorway. She stopped straight away and on restart the fault was cleared. What could be causing this and is it linked to the chain which I think needs changing anyway as it's getting a bit dieselly? -
Peugeot expert - Peugeot expert (e7) 2011 location of gearbox bung 31 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Hi my dad made the mistake of buying a Peugeot expert, whilst changing a cv boot I lost a little bit of gearbox oil and now I can't find the filler bung I did manage to put some oil in the breather but I'm just want to know if there a way to check gear box oil level it's a 2ltr diesel by the way -
VW Polo 1.4 (02 reg) - oil filter 5 Nov 2010 (Forum)
At its annual service, the mechanic said he could not change the oil filter because it had been fitted too tightly. The hex nut attached to the filter had come adrift leaving him no means of unscrewing it. I'm too old now to do this myself but in the past, on earlier cars I used a strap-wrench to unscrew the old filter. -
Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 1996 1.2 How to clear oil filler mayo? 16 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Not surprising for a car that only went a couple of miles twice a week. How best to clear the gunk? - I'm guess that changing the oil won't shift it? It was still present after a fast 20 mile journey home. -

1995 cavalier 1.7TD fuel problems 26 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I had an earlier post about oil levels and smoke in this car... I have changed the oil and fuel filters and also replaced the oil. Now my car wont start. I think it is an airlock. I have filled the fuel filter with diesel prior to fitting.
