03 Reg SL500 £44,200 at Auction Today 28 Jan 2005 (News)
It was catalogued with a shock mileage of 89,530, which, though RHD, turned out to be kilometres. Obviously an import, declared first sold in Rostock and having spent its life on the Cote d’Azur. Bids kicked off at a very hopeful £35k and, after a slightly drawn out fight between two traders, one of whom was selling it on the phone, the hammer finally came down at £44,200. -

03 reg TDCI 130 Estate Bid to Just £10k Today 10 Dec 2003 (News)
But it was one of the few low bids on a day that saw some strong action in anticipation of the new year. Cars that looked dear to me included an imported 21k mile 2001Y Mercedes SLK 230K with a few scratches, bid to £18,500; a scruffy, badly kerbed 37k mile 2001/51 reg BMW 325i Compact, bid to £11,900; a 53k mile 2001/52 Toyota RAV-4 NRG 2.0 automatic, bid to £11,400; a 28k mile 02 reg VW Golf 1.6SE, sold for £8,550; a 20k mile 2002/51 reg Volvo C70 2.4T convertible, bit to £17,000 (though at least it had the right engine); and a 36k mile 2000X Freelander TD4 GS 5-door, sold for £11,650. -
No Friday 13th Factor at Auction Today 13 Sep 2002 (News)
A 26k mile 96P LS 1.4 5-door automatic with heavily oxidised paint and no power steering sold for £2,375. A 20k 96P Corsa Vegas 1.4 5-door sold for £2,300. While even a very basic, white, imported, 63k mile 1.2 Merit 5-door still made £1,600. Sporty stuff was selling, too. A 46k mile 96N MR2 2.0GT T-Bar went for £6,300 and a 90,000 mile 97P Celica 2.0GT with some obvious body repairs (and in need of some more) made a solid £5,600. -

BCA Used Car Market Report 2010 3 Sep 2010 (News)
Much expectation was put on the Government's Scrappage Scheme to inject life into the retail motor sector during the recession - and it clearly played an important role - but BCA's 2010 Used Car Market Report shows that the motor industry began the long climb out of recession in 2009 as a result of improving used car values. This was despite new and used car volumes reaching their lowest points for the decade. -
Van market recovery continues, says BCA 25 Feb 2009 (News)
The SWB panel van has remained in demand through much of the economic downturn, simply because it is a jack-of-all-trades. Condition remains very important, although a few minor dents or dings seem more acceptable this year, providing the vehicle is otherwise in clean condition. Anything that looks too tired or poorly used will turn buyers off however. -
Beautiful Rarity at Auction Today 22 Mar 2006 (News)
All a bit low maybe in dread of what was coming in the Budget, yet someone was persuaded to part with a steep £13,700 for an independent import 34k mile Mazda RX8 automatic sitting on unfashionable 225/55 R16 tyres. Here’s a longer list for today. As usual, ‘s’ means sold. ‘p’ means top provisional bid. n/s means not sold. -
Porsche 997 Sells on eBay for £63,700 26 Aug 2005 (News)
Barely averaging 3000 miles a year it had a shade less than 84,000 miles on the clock, 8 months tax and ticket, was LHD and an import from the sunny climes of California. In good condition and in steel grey it made £6,999. High mileage can really hammer a car’s value. The Renault Laguna may not have the best residuals of its class, but add 96k to the mileage in three years and you can pick up a silver 02/02 1.9 DCi Dynamique 5dr in good condition with a FSH for £4,450. -
Learners head away from cities in order to pass their driving tests 15 Jan 2020 (News)
However, drivers who would have to cope with gridlocked traffic, buses and pedestrians in their own environment wouldn't be well equipped to drive safely if they passed in a remote location like the Isle of Barra. So, it's always important to think about where you take your test - the most logical place is where you live, despite whether it seems harder to pass there. -
Focus On: Volks Autos 4 Dec 2019 (News)

Hidden Hero: Peugeot 307 GT Feline 13 Sep 2019 (News)
The 307 GT Feline is, as a result, a very rare car today. Just 300 were imported to start with and of those only around half survive. They’re utterly worthless, but that’s part of the appeal. While rival hot hatches of the mid-2000s are already catching on with collectors, this is the forgotten also-ran, and as such it costs pennies to pick up. -

Honda's new Mean Mower can hit 150mph 4 Jul 2018 (News)
The Mean Mower has a bespoke lightweight chassis made using T45 steel, intended to allow an element of flexibility - important for comfort and durability as it does without suspension. Brakes are fairly hefty four-piston calipers to the front and six-piston calipers to the rear. Honda hasn't said exactly when it's going for the record, but it has recruited 23-year-old stunt driver Jess Hawkins to help tame the mower. -
A Grand Monday: Honda S-MX 21 Aug 2017 (News)
The odometer shows 192,000, which is made up of miles and kilometres - it was converted at point of import in 2008, at which time it had covered 102,000 kms, which is around 62,000 miles. So, in total, 150,000 miles or so. The car is located near Aberystwyth. -

Review: Ring Magflex Twist work lamp 7 Jun 2017 (News)
What is it? Anyone who maintains their own van will understand the importance of good lighting – but most torches and work lights aren’t designed with van and car maintenance in mind. The Ring Magflex Twist, on the other hand, is designed specifically for use in maintenance.
