  • Honda Jazz - Honda Servicing - Am I getting a proper Service ? 26 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Most journeys are cold starts and short runs, as you would expect a driver her age. (Btw, she only tops up with Shell V power petrol, again a HJ recommendation) ISSUE = on her 2nd Annual Service, the Engine Oil and Oil Filter NOT changed as stated in Honda Happiness Fixed Price Servicing Plan. Service 1 (12 months) - 6225 miles - everything done as per Service Plan Service 2 (24 months) - 9871 miles - engine oil and oil filter not replaced In Year 2 I believe my Mum should have got an AB2 Service, instead she only got a B2 Service.
  • Engine problem with SEAT Altea 1.9 TDI 4 Apr 2012 (Ask HJ)
I have a Seat Altea XL 1.9 TDI 59 reg and every few weeks it refuses to start - it normally kicks over first time no matter what the weather is. SEAT installed...
  • Bullitt Mk 2 is back 6 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Not reg or insured yet but we took it for a bit of fresh air today and it responds as one would expect, i.e. kick down, it gathers its skirts for a minute and then everything in the rear view mirror gets a lot smaller without any apparent effort. If there is any automotive experience as satisfying as the surge of sheer endless power from a big American V-8 I have yet to experience it, and I've owned a few. It will of course be weekend fun not day to day transportation. A/c is vital here, the old Bendix compressor was clapped out, so a new Nippon Denso is in place, non standard but much more efficient.
  • Hyundai Santa Fe long term test 15 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Yes, of course you get more steering feedback from a Freelander than from this Hyundai, whose variable power-steering system (called FlexSteerTM) is more numb than a Sherpa’s nose, and yes the Santa Fe’s 2.2-litre diesel engine’s mantelpiece is empty of awards for power delivery or refinement.

  • What car should I buy that's fun but economical? 7 Nov 2018 (Ask HJ)

  • Fiat Grande Punto 1.9 - Had the car only 3months..what are my rights! 22 May 2012 (Forum)
As it my first diesel I just assumed this was normal, and have tried just using 'Redex Diesel' fuel System cleaner and filled my car up reguarly using 'Shell V-Power Diesel' in hope this would help. After about a month and a half i started to notice that when the car is in neutral you can feel the whole car vibrate slightly, and if the air con is on the vibrations increase more.
  • S-Max and C4 Picasso: who's tried both? 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
d be interested in other people?s thoughts, since these two are clearly chasing similar markets. It may come down to a Head-v-Heart argument for some ? the C4P looks fantastic but I suspect the S-Max will work better for longer. Either way, the Mondeo estate looks redundant ? the S-Max is no bigger but offers vastly more capability.

  • Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - Two weeks (almost) review and update 18 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Range is an easy 450 miles on the 70 litre tank. Will run this tank as low as I dare and brim it with V-Power. Overall. It's not perfect, but I like it a lot. Fast, comfy, quiet, smooth, good looking, well made, well equipped. Feels like a massive step up over what I had before even though it's only a year newer and has 20k less.
  • Jaguar S-Type (1999 - 2007) - Long term running report on an 04 diesel auto. 1 Aug 2008 (Forum)
ve had it has always hovered around the 35MPG mark, although if you fill it when hot & do a reasonable run up say the A1M then you?ll see 43MPG or so on the trip. It?s been run 95% on Shell V Power although it makes zero difference to the consumption it does make it run a little smoother & since I also get fuel vouchers every 2-3 months it?s worthwhile. So it?s sold back to the dealer it came from, they valued it as a buy in with 84K miles at £7K but actually gave me £10K for it against another S So to overall costs, including 4 x tyres, insurance, finance costs It has cost 29 pence per mile if you use the £10K valuation or 37 PPM if you use £7K.
  • Hyundai i40 tourer 1.7 active 115ps - Reliability/Economy/Maintenance 3 Jan 2018 (Forum)
I never let the tank drop below half full, and almost exclusively use premium diesel, either Shell V power, or equivalent. I am not ''dissing'' other fuels, but I want as little downtime/workshop time as possible during the car's lifecycle, and want to keep the injectors/fuel pump/dpf/fuel tank as clean as possible, and in the case of the tank, free from condensation/moisture/bacteria.
  • Vauhall Zafira - Faulty Used Car 23 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I bought a used Vauxhall Zafira (1999 V reg for £1220) from a trader on an ebay auction.  The auction stated that the car "drives very well" and that returns were accepted and I bid and won on this basis.  There was some minor cosmetic damage which I was happy to accept.

  • 2yrs on from buying a 9yr old dpf-equipped diesel 10 Sep 2019 (Forum)
Economically - use the engine torque (decent) to get up to speed and make sure it gets a healthy dose of sustained 2000-2500rpm for you know what. 6th gear at 70mph pulls 2200rpm. What do I feed it? Shell V-Power diesel 95% of time, unless there's a reason I cant get hold of it (unlikely)MPG - I'm getting 39-41mpg very consistently, as it's official fuel consumption claims. Mileage as of 0900 9th Sep 2019 - 110852 So....what has it cost thus far?
