Volkswagen Up 2012 3 door - TakeUpreview 10 May 2012 (Forum)
And I do like small cars, as they are more fun to drive, and easier to park in cities. VW have made a few compromises to reduce the build cost, and some of these might be a turn off. Chief among these is the solitary external lock, on the driver's door. -
Rover 45 - Rover 45 Engine Failure 6 May 2012 (Forum)
I was wondering if anyone could give advice. I was driving down the motorway yesterday and approaching my juntion i could hear a rattling noise when the accelarator was pressed down. As i apporoached the off ramp, smoke/steam started coming from under the bonnet and the car lost all power so stopped the car and hazards on. -
Chrysler Voyager (1997 - 2001) - 99 2.4 Car won't start - Immobiliser problem?? 13 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Hi Where do I start! We bought a Grand Voyager 1999 2.4 diesel around 8 weeks ago. Since driving it home from Leeds (roughly 30 miles) we have not been able to drive/start it. We have had the RAC out to it, they couldn't get it to start and towed it home. We then called an auto-electrician who has been working on it without any luck. -
Mitsubishi ASX - Head or Heart. Diesel or petrol 4 Feb 2012 (Forum)
I think I am convincing myself but just want to be reassured by someone who bought one and is happy with it. \i am going to test drive one buttest drives don't recreate real world experiences. Also I want to avoid dpf problems in the long term. -
BMW 3-Series E91 Touring (2005 - ) - Realistic fuel consumption for 318i 23 Jan 2012 (Forum)
All this assumes that the BMW Efficient Dynamics really do make the fuel consumption of the 318i only about 10% worse than my Diesel Focus in the real world. Any comments on how realistic this is? My driving is the usual mixture of motorways, urban hold ups and the occasional "open road". The Focus returns anything between 45 and just over 50mpg depending on the exact mix for that tank full. Obviously I will get to test drive the BMW (and others) for a couple of days but any comments on how much difference I will notice in the reduction in torque between the Diesel Focus and Petrol BMW? -
Honda FR-V - Honda Diesel Engine - Fuel filter and fuel pump 4 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I did manage to drive it for 40 miles on one day and thought that the problem was solved, but it then reoccured the following day. I took it to the local official Honda garage and asked them to investigate. -
BMW 325i May 2010 E90 3.0 litre - BMW 325i (E90 3.0) - noisy at idle 22 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Hello all. Have been away a while but am back with a problem new car. After 8 years of driving Lexuses (IS200 / IS250) last year I ordered 325i (3.0 litre). Although in many ways a better drive than the Lexuses I'm really struggling with just how noisy it is at idle and low revs - especially (but not only) when cold. -
ford mondeo TCDi - Petrol in diesel? 18 Nov 2011 (Forum)
I went to use it this morning and it didnt start first time and took a while to settle down and run normal (ish). whilst driving it for around the first half a mile it felt like it was going to cut out. As we are planning on using the car a bit tommorrow and i was driving past a petrol station i put another £15 in. drove off, got on a dual carriageway, went to over take someone and it went into limp mode (which it does every now and then but normally only when i really put my foot down). i pulled over and it cut out. -
Vauxhall Corsa - Corsa 1.3cdti engine problems 4 Nov 2011 (Forum)
It’s been in to the dealers last week and all they did was reset the light, then soon as I drove off on the dual carriage way loss of power and light back on. It’s driving me mad! I can’t have a car like this, it’s going back to the dealer again on Wednesday, but I’m sure they will just 'reset the light ' again. Can anyone offer any advice to what might be wrong? -
BMW x3 2008 - Help, why is my gearbox going into safety mode? 30 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I stop the car, restart it and it drives off fine. Sometimes just before it fails the rev counter flickers. I took it four times to bmw garages who kept giving me the car back as all they did was stick it on a diagnostic machine and said there is no fault. -
Renault Megane - is my garage liable, and what can I do? 10 Sep 2011 (Forum)
The owner of the garage has just returned from holiday (today) and is unwilling to offer any assistance for the repairs needed. He and his mechanic claim that my wife was told not to drive the car; she (and her son) say differently. Any legal/technical advice gratefully received. Many thanks in advance. -
any - In defence of the car 11 Aug 2011 (Forum)
So a few months ago we booked on eurotunnel, £84 return, yes i know we had to drive here to there, but a nice pub/hotel in the belgian countryside with good food and reasonable prices made a nice break, non of this baggage stuff, or you can't take that or airport food, YES, THE CAR IS STILL USEFUL. -
Whats the right car? 27 May 2011 (Forum)
Now down to business, it is nearing the end of this years insurance policy for me so im on the market for something new. I currently drive a ford mondeo ghia x 2.5 V6 and to be fair even though its lovely to drive it is murdering me on running costs. I am 22 so insurance is stupid, fuel prices are on the rise so you cant afford to have a heavy foot which is what fast fords are made for, and the government are tight fisted so road tax is stupid. -
Ford Focus - How can I check price of ford parts online? 26 May 2011 (Forum)
I challenged the garage on this issue and with the knowledge I had was able to inform them that I should not be charged for labour for one part as the other part being fitted under warranty would involve the removal and refitting of the drive belt thus reducing my cost for drive belt part of repair from £119.80 to £19.10. Naturally I will not be using this garage again and will be making a complaint to Ford as I would like to prevent other drivers from being overcharged. -
Audi A3 Sportback - Low diesel MPG - is it me or the car? 11 Apr 2011 (Forum)
On my previous car - a 58 plate 1.8 petrol Honda civic , I used to get 38MPG regularly, last month - up to 44MPG in the summer time. So without majorly changing my driving style, is it unreasonable to expect the MPG to be better on the Audi? Or do I have to 'relearn' to drive a diesel? I'm worried I've gone backwards in terms of fuel economy... I've read that on the internet that the wobbling at idle when its warm might be the injectors. -

Nissan Leaf - Nissan's masterstroke? 5 Apr 2011 (Forum)

any - 80 mph limit on motorways 20 Mar 2011 (Forum)
incidentally last week went from carmarten to west london 210 miles 3 hours 10 mins roads eerily empty between 10.15 and 1.30 in the day. fuel cost seems to have stopped a lot of driving and slowed down lots of people too. But 4 of us went by car, cost 46 lites in diesel round trip, train fare would have been £67 each + 2 underground tickets zone 9 @£11 each so far cheaper for us to drive, -
Peugeot 207 CC - unable to identify driver in alleged speeding 22 Feb 2011 (Forum)
On a recent journey back home to North Norfolk from Devon my husband and I were caught by a ' safety camera' on the A303. I am unfamiliar with this road so even with a map reference I cannot identify who was driving st the time. The photos are inconclusive but the enlarged one they sent was the second one taken and has no speed on it. The image of the passenger appears to have been pixilated out and the drivers face digetally enhanced but my husband and I look extremely alike and it is still not clear who was driving at the time.
