  • Vauxhall Zafira B (2005 - ) - Is three abreast child seat fitment possible 23 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The usual other option, of putting the new born in the front seat, doesn?t seem to be possible, as there?s no means (as far as we can tell) to switch off the passenger airbag. Has anyone managed to seat three abreast in these? If so, what type/make of child seats do you use? Sorry to bring up a well worn topic, but I couldn't find anything specific to this model.
  • Ford Fiesta (2000 - 2002) - 02 1.6 erratic coolant 17 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I have a 2002 Fiesta Zetec-S and had the thermostat housing changed by a mechanic (mate of a mate) because of a coolant leak and I had no previous temperature issues. The temperature seems to be going up and down like a yo-yo.
  • Credit Card Fraud - again. 1 Aug 2009 (Forum)
My CC has been hit for three fraudulant transactions in very rapid order in the USA. My CC co identified it, contacted me 09:00 the next morning a credited all ££s back instantly. I visited a major supermarket and three hours later @ 00:00 hours the USA transactions occurred.

  • Your new (elderly) Battery 27 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Now that last one looked years younger than some of the other dirty stained jobs waiting to be bought as `new` Maybe this is one reason batteries other than the original seem not to last as long these days (unless the original sat in a field drained flat for 6 months - then jump started and out with the car as new.) Wonder if anyone anyone has ever replaced their battery only to have fitted an older one...It`s GOT to have happened somewhere, at sometime hasn`t it?
  • Jaguar X-Type (2001 - 2009) - What tyres can I use? 22 May 2009 (Forum)
What tyres can I put on the rear of my Jaguar Xtype 2.0D? I spoke to the Jag garage and they said I can only put Pirelli 6000J ' s on which are only suitable for Jaguar (they have a J in the code specfic to this model). I then spoke to the local ATS and they said they can put Dunlop All Seasons on (£175 for 2 fitted). Can anyone advise what I can put on and also a good price to pay?
  • new vosa powers 19 May 2009 (Forum)
Talking to my inside informant at vosa this week and he was telling me about the new powers vosa were given from the beginning of this month in relation to hgv"s, these consist of fixed penalty fines and points up to a maximum fine of 900 pounds, above this and it has to go to court Vosa are also allowed to make a british driving licence up for any foreign driver who obviously doesnt hold such a thing and vosa have access to full back up of fingerprint technology and all the facilities that the police use to confirm whether the driver they now stop should be driving if hes been caught before.
  • Ford Maverick I (1993 - 1997) - 93 2.7D Washer fuses! 18 May 2009 (Forum)
In any case, I have checked all these fuses (none of which is labelled for the washers anyway) but none blown. So... Any ideas where the fuse(s) for the windscreen and headlamp washers would be? Any other thoughts on what could be causing this problem? Doubt it's connections at the pumps as neither functions. As a secondary point, does anyone know where I can get some accurate electrical diagrams for this model?
  • Why is 'purchase price' a factor with insurance? 12 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Sounds fair enough, but what are the implications for both quote and any future payout? Consider the following situations: 1) I win the vehicle in "Tom Champagne"'s Reader's Digest Prize Draw or somesuch. Purchase price zero.... 2) The car is inherited or gifted from a relative for a nominal £1.... 3) My superior bargaining skills get the car for a knock-down never-to-be-repeated price - say 50% of its market value..... 4) The car is purchased as an ex-lease company car at its written-down value.....
  • Polite Sign in rear window 27 Feb 2009 (Forum)
When it's safe of course or they might 'do' you as well :) So I passed when it was safe and it was a little old Granny, she must of been in her 80's and gave me a big smile and cheery wave. She must of been driving at around 23mph, normally I'd be annoyed at someone travelling so slow, but the notice in her rear window made me chuckle. Lee
  • Peugeot 405 Diesel (1988 - 1996) - 1993 1.9 Which wheels fit my 405? 31 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Do some dealers use a different way of measuring that is 'equivalent' to 185/65/14? 4. Could i put 15's on if i wanted? Does it change the handling and how? 5. Can i put wider wheels on? and how...what would i need to change? Thanx in advance, Neil.
  • Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 94 1.8 Suspension problems? 19 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Difficult to describe but you just seem to have to fight to drive it anywhere near smoothly. Any thoughts as to the cause(s)? New shocks needed? many thanks, James
  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 2000 1.4 Oily marks on bodywork. 15 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I noticed some oily spattering on the offside of swmbo's Astra this pm. A quick once over sees the whole of the o/s wheel arch lined with something, but nothing on the wheel/tyre. Engine oil a bit low, and topped up accordingly, no sign of any surplus oil in the engine compartment She had recently filled up, so first thoughts are a diesel spill at the local superstore.
  • MB London black cab. 10 Jul 2008 (Forum)
It also has rear-wheel steering that lets it meet the capital's strict 25ft turning circle rule and is able to carry two wheelchairs compared to its rival's one. Mercedes claims it will also be more fuel efficient. ..... is expected to match the TX4's price tag of £34,000. London TV had significant coverage. • Tyre pressure monitors-Warning. 9 Jul 2008 (Forum)
So I've got the spare on the front and a rear valve is decidedly wobbly. I'll be interested to see if the dealer s going to stump up the cost of replacement under warranty. (Getting the car to them is going to be interesting) So f you've got metal dust caps on a car with tyre pressure monitors-TAKE THEM OFF NOW!

  • Ferrari F149 California (2009 - ) - New Ferrari 14 May 2008 (Forum)
Reminds me of the hours I spent with goosebumps on my neck listening to Mark Hales giving Nick Mason's F40 the absolute treatment round Donington on a free audio cassette with Fast Lane magazine back in the 80's. Some of the "drive by" clips were astonishing with the thing echoing off the armco. Barely silenced at all. Just heavenly. It's nice to hear they're still managing to retain the magic in spite of the EU noise regs.
  • Volvo puts foot in it 9 May 2008 (Forum)
A German court has ruled car maker Volvo has to pay compensation to a man who claimed his feet were too big to use the accelerator on his new car. A judge said the car makers should have catered for Michael Herzog?s size 12 feet. The court ruled his feet were not abnormally large and the judge said the dealer should give the German five per cent off the price of his new car. Under a court-supervised settlement, Herzog obtained a £1,350 refund to pay for a specially made pair of shoes that allowed him to squeeze his foot into the space.
  • Too Good To Be True? 4 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I don't want to post the ad because it might be completely genuine but the basic details are that the car is coming up to its 3rd birthday but has the mileage you might expect on its 10th birthday. It?s has full MB service history. I?ve told the friend to contact the dealer who carried out the servicing and, when they look at the car tonight, to note the VIN on the body and the engine (any pointers to where these might be on an A-Class?)
