Accord 1.8 VTEC 3000 mile services? 13 Mar 2004 (Forum)
My colleague drives a 2000 "W" Accord 1.8 VTEC and claims the service book requires oil and filters every 3,000 miles. Is he reading the severe use pages, or do these cars really need so frequent servicing. He is quite happy to get the oil done frequently as long as it is a reasonable cost. -
Service Timing 4 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I'm driving a Land Rover Discovery (for work - not my choice!!) and in the last 15months its done 2500miles - but Land Rover are saying that it needs to be serviced to keep the warranty in force. My problem is the low mileage means that I don't think that it should be serviced yet! -

Learner Drivers 16 Feb 2004 (Forum)
The appalling quality of some of these drivers is such that they will still be dangerous even if they do pass their test. The lady called Sue will NEVER reach a decent standard of driving - she has no understanding of roundabouts or other drivers. If she passes her test it will be indicative of how we let dangerous drivers onto our roads. Mind you, it's easy to see where these appalling drivers on the roads come from.... -
Carlton cutting out. 11 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Wish I'd scrapped this car now! After an engine rebuild etc our Carlton is now back on the road. Unfortunately whilst driving on the M1 the other night it just totally lost power and cut out. We pulled into the hard shoulder and it started again and was fine. It did this 2 or 3 times, once the engine almost "coughed" as well. -

Megane power loss 26 Jan 2004 (Forum)
This is a query for a friend of mine. He drives a 1999 Megane 1.6 16v. He has experienced an intermittent problem. Sometimes, shortly after starting the car and moving off, he experiences a short but dramatic loss of power, and it is almost as if the car is on the brink of stalling. -
A Class 140 17 Jan 2004 (Forum)
With 18,000 miles on the clock and just outside the warranty period, the Rear axle trailing arm bushes were so worn the car was not safe to drive. MB replaced these ( after some debate !) Having just reached 25,000 miles ( and 4yrs) the Front roll bar links now need replacing! I get the impression this is not uncommon. The key question is, can I reasonably expect MB to do this work free of charge or will I have to brace my self for a hefty bill ? -
One Junction, 73 Sets of Traffic Lights 6 Jan 2004 (Forum)
A spokesperson said that there were only two accidents on the first day of operation. Oh, and the leader of the council, who is defending the £5 million project, doesn't have a driving license, just a push bike. -

Christmas gift for your kids? 18 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Cost from the IAM for the Skills for Life package is currently reduced from £85-00 to £75-00 for drivers under 26 - this includes the required books, no further charge for Observed drives, and the IAM test. About the cost of a couple of tanks of petrol - or the cost of the flowers I pass on my way to Tesco at accident sites for young drivers. Matt35. -

Amusing sights 26 Nov 2003 (Forum)
AS I was driving in east London today (W. India Dock Rd to be precise) I came possibly the funniest sight I've experienced when stuck behind the wheel of a car. There down the meridian (and outside a huge cop shop) was a man walking stark naked. -
What does Coil light staying on mean 25 Nov 2003 (Forum)
At the same time this happened a rear light bulb failed. What action should I take? Is it safe to drive the car? If its a garage repair can you recommend a good local diesel specialist in the North West London / Watford area. Ford want £100 just to diagnose the problem. Regards ... Gary -
Vectra Auto Gearbox Question 15 Oct 2003 (Forum)
An aquaintance has purchased a nearly new Vectra ('51 reg) with an auto gearbox. He has owned autos for years, and every one did not run backwards downhill when in Drive. Except this one. He has exhausted the local Vauxhall dealer, they have referred him direct to Vauxhall, who say that the new gearbox does not have antirunback feature as a fuel economy measure. -

Small Automatic - Ideas please 8 Sep 2003 (Forum)
A friends wife is learning to drive and is opting for the auto-only license at this stage. They are looking to buy a small automatic and have a budget of about £2K + whatever insurance cost is required. They have decided on a Micra CVT at this stage. -
RAV 4 Hesitating 3 Sep 2003 (Forum)
He is reporting that there is no power available particularly for pulling out at junctions and has to build up speed more gradually than would be expected under normal driving conditions. The car has been serviced recently and the problem seems to be more common now than previously. The problem has been apparent since he bought the car but more intermittently. Any ideas?
