  • body repairs 30 Jan 2002 (Forum)
i have visited the Lexus dealer who say's that they will repair the dent and blend it in with the rear door. i am concerned as the car is a silver metallic finish, and as it is quite new, i want to get the best possible repair so that the repair will not notice. i would appreciate any advice on getting the right job done. The dent is only inches from the rear door, so a match will be important. Thanks.
  • 2 year warranties (again!) 20 Nov 2001 (Forum)
What is the deciding factor, the order date or the registration date. Does this vary for different importers or manufacturers? Does anyone know for sure what the situation is?
  • Motorpoint 14 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I can get a new UK spec 1.6 Focus Ghia from Motorpoint for approx £3K less than the best deal my local Ford franchise can offer. The only snag as far as I can tell is that due to the fact that it is an import (of some kind)it only comes with 1 years manufacturers warranty as opposed to 3 from UK dealer. Motorpoint offer an extended warranty to give a 'like for like' comparison as they call it for £290 per year.
  • Nissan Sunny GTi 2.0ie 21 Sep 2001 (Forum)
A great car which was What Car Hot Hatch for 2 consecutive years. My son wants to buy one but the majority advertised seem to be grey imports, as well as loads of GTi-Rs which are out of his price bracket to buy and insure. Does anyone know if there are problems with servicing the non UK spec cars? and what is a reasonable price for a 92-94 UK spec model?
  • Independent Honda Specialist 18 Apr 2001 (Forum)
I am looking for an independent Honda specialist to service my 1992 non-import 2.3 prelude. As the car is old I do not see any point continuing with a Honda main dealer service history anymore. However, the cam belts are due for a change and I would only want to take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

My pal's father was then apparently granted a licence to assemble Austin cars in the Philippines from imported parts to aid the rebirth of the country's auto industry, and his factory produced for a number of years Austins: Devons, A30's, Cambridges, Minis and the like, which sold in moderate numbers to people who could afford them.
  • EV chargers 21 Nov 2021 (Forum)
What happens if I wish to change to a different supplier in future, could the new supplier then refuse to take over one of these approved chargers?""" I am not in the market for an EV but this is another bit of important information gleaned.
  • Mental Japanese MPV 22 May 2018 (Forum)
Not sure how many manufacturers have decided that they need an MPV which looks like a cross between a a transformer and a Manga comic escapee, but Toyota obviously did, and actually went ahead and made it! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRESH-IMPORT-NEW-SHAPE-2015-15-PLATE-TOYOTA-ALPHARD-VELLFIRE-3-5-V6-EXECUTIVE/273108598264?hash=item3f968a7df8:g:XScAAOSwjeJalo-u A bit pricey granted, but how about it as a means of standing out from all those pesky 'me too' German SUV's?.

  • Ford Guia 1800cc - Car Tyres 1 Mar 2017 (Forum)
My car now needs new tyres but I have been given to understand that the NZL Pirelli importers do not bring in a 14 inch replacement tyre.  This being the case ,could you recommend another brand in this size that would give good dry/wet & economy preformance.  Thanks,    About me: I'm new in this forum, I am a consultant and have worked with multiple firms Link deleted.
  • Family Car in London 22 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Had a bit of a mare with the Yaris which has convinced my husband it's time to pass the Yaris on to my sisters to learn to drive in and get ourselves something else. We live in London, so economy is important. We do travel down to Bournemouth so we need a decent boot space. Husband wants Golf, I don't. So wondering what you guys would suggest? Had a look on the car chooser....and the Golf came up!

  • Gumtree - Most car ads look quite "dodgy" ??? 4 May 2011 (Forum)
Most of the ads seemed to be written in very poor english, and/or have "leaving country quick sale needed" or even more suspicious "phone XXX our land line is under some maintenance" or full of other dodgy sounding phrases or descriptions  "is an import much spec" I didn't see one I would be comfortable replying to/going to view/buy..... but then I am quite a cautious buyer.
  • Celica Convertible - Battery for Infrequently used Car 27 Oct 2010 (Forum)
I have a grey-import celica convertible that doesn't get used very often - just high days and holidays for a good long run to the coast or a anational trust proerpty or some other excursion .   Although the car itself is 100% reliable the battery is not liking the infrequent use and now struggles to hold any charge.
