• Jaguar XK8 and XKR (1996 - 2006) - 99 4.0 High Temperature Gearbox warning 26 Jan 2010 (Forum)
  I have just had this amber warning come up on the dash, handbook says its ok to drive but nothing else. (not restricted performance mode) The warning comes on from start up so it is not a high temp in the gearbox, it sometimes goes away. Does anyone know of this fault or fix Many thanks John

  As the UK snow and ice melts people are already warning of shattered road surfaces and huge potholes appearing. The financially-strapped councils will struggle to do repairs, so are we better off driving 4x4s to tackle the inevitable 3rd world roads?! And if we did, the Gubbermint makes even more money from the motorist :-) Any conspiracy theorists out there?! FWIW my 4x4 has rock hard suspension; they ain't all soft and wallowy :-(

  Hello all test driving my new laptop - lol. re extended warranties. my mercedes s600 MB warranty expires in Aptil 2010 & jeep hemi goes in july. had quotes from warrantydirect - 950 for merc & 1400 for jeep - their top fligh cover with franchised dealer reapirs for parts 7 labour quotes appear to be too good to be true.
• MINI MINI One R50 (2001 - 2007) - Faulty Boot Lock 27 Dec 2009 (Forum)
  Hi all, We have a Mini One with a faulty boot lock. It closes ok, but when we start the car and start to drive off we can hear a clicking sound and then the boot unlocks on it's own. We have to get and and close it again and then all seems to be ok. Any ideas why it does this ? Thanks in advance. John

  Walking home from the shops today I saw a DVLA liveried van driving thru the estate, together with signage on how to report an untaxed car. It was a Transit with a big roof-rack on it and what was clearly an ANPR camera mounted at each corner, at 45 degs to the fore-aft axis of the van.
• Ford Fiesta (2009 - ) - 09 1.6 Brand New/Engine Warning Light 3 Dec 2009 (Forum)
  The engine warning light flashed on this morning on my less than a week old Fiesta. It only came on for a couple or three seconds and the car seems to drive OK. Its has done less than 500 miles so I am a bit concerned. Should I be worried or just keep going and see if it happens again thanks

  However sometimes the windscreen still mysts up a little bit, mainly when I have cleared it, gone to a job, got back into the car and it mysts it is only slight but enough to be ilegal to drive until I clear it. I leave the heating setting on dimist even when the ignition is off, I assume this makes the problem worse?

  Have booked flights for me and her to take a month down under. We have "rellies" in Melbourne and Sydney. I'd be interested to drive from either city to Ayres Rock. Anyone done that? If so, what was it like? Interesting/boring? easy/tough? Got a spanking good deal via ebookers on business class with Qatar Airways. Probably find its an outside loo for the price I paid.

  When starting from cold the above lights do not go out - the oil level is correct and the engine performs fine - if I move the handbrake slightly both lights flicker as though they are connected in some way - after around 15 minutes of driving both slowly fade to going out as they should - any ideas please?

  i was driving in the rain and my 307 hdi lost power.it now wont go over 10,000rpm.it wont rev up even when not moving just putting black smoke out.i was wondering has a sensor got wet or blocked.i have read about these pef sensors and fap filters on your site.could this be my problem?

  After my first long and tedious cross country drive in the dark, I?m thinking of upgrading the headlight bulbs with standard wattage but brighter/whiter beams. I assume the bulbs in my Octavia facelift model, are still H1 and H7, but what are currently recommended in that format?

  Hi I recently had my alternator replaced on my 3 series as was getting battery light flashing on and the engine shunting, with the car actually stalling when driving in a few instances. I was told by the garage this was a common fault so they replaced this however, the problem still persists. Any ideas what the issue could be?

  Hi All, I've got a drive of a Ferrari at MIRA soon (Birthday present from the wife) and the accompanying letter says that for security reasons no photographs are allowed and all phones, camera's etc must be left in the car.

  Should i bleed it first before worrying about the water pump? does this happen a lot on this E39 model? it had been driving fine, lots of history and a recent new head, 145k, help!

  a friend of mine says that deflated tyres on the driving wheels alters the speedo readings,he thinks it makes the wheel smaller therefore lowering the gearing. he's an engineer and can prove it (his words).I totally disagree telling him that it does not alter the circumference of the tyre.

  I will be changing my front wheel bearing this weekend. Can anybody tell me the size the nut on the end of the drive shaft. I am sure I won't have a socket big enough to fit. Don't want to start the job and find I'm short of the tool for the job. Thanks

  My question concerns a friends VW Minbus/transporter went in for a cam belt and water pump change all done well at local VW dealer, dealer then says EGR valve leaking, cost 350 GBP to correct. Know van drives perfectly well, no flat spots accelerates and decelerates cleanly and fuel mpg is fine. So are they trying it on? Rgds

  All cars will be left on at home and everyone will use our wonderful public transport system for the duration. I reckon to spend 2.5 hours driving to work and golf every week but by public transport would be well nigh impossible. Buses and trains just won't get me there without miles of Shanks' pony. Could anyone manage their routine using public transport?

  Driving into Cardiff this morning I passed 3 or 4 'Traffic Information' signs that were activated. Their message? "XXXX Department Store, Opening 24th Sept" .... Since when were these signs intended for advertising purposes rather than safety advice or actual traffic info?

  ive just done a 5 mile drive but when i got back steam was coming from the bonnet. the water was boiling away in the expansion bottle and it was pooring with steam from the overflow pipe. temp gauge was on 90 (normal) fans kick in when they shouls do. what could be the problem ???
