  • Driveway in front of zig zag lines 7 Apr 2011 (Forum)
There are traffic lights about 30 yards away and the white zigzag lines run along in front of this house. Obviously i will need a dropped kerb before getting permission for a drive way. BUT do you think the local highway agency will give me permission for a dropped kerb seeing as there are zig zag lines in front of the property? Just another 500 yards down this main road there is a house that has a drive way which is right next to a set of traffic lights and the zig zags are in front of their house.

  • Vx Corsa 1.4 auto - '08 Corsa auto - gear stuck in 'Park' 11 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi all, got a problem all of a sudden, were the gearstick won't move out of the 'Park' position. I have to raise the gear gaiter & push the yellow tab down in order to put it in 'Drive'. ( Got this tip out of the car's handbook, or I'd still be in Asda's car park!) My foot is on the footbrake whilst trying to put it in drive, as it has to be, and I can hear a click when I push the brake in, so it sounds like the ?
  • Ford C-MAX - "Engine Malfunction" 24 Nov 2010 (Forum)
I  have a re-occurring problem with my 1600cc petrol C-Max. From time to time when I am driving very slowly in a traffic queue, suddenly the alarm goes and the "engine malfunction" warning comes on and the engine starts to hunt ( revs rising and falling ). Switching off and restarting seems to solve the problem but after a couple of minutes its there again until I start driving normally/faster.

  • Nissan CVT box in Primera 30 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I've read the car-by-car breakdown and nothing's flagged up there apart from it being slow setting off. What's it like to drive, and what's its reputation for reliability? (I don't think we're talking about the same thing as the old Micra CVT). I currently drive a conventional auto but with a big engine (Ford Scorpio) - I previously had an auto in a Mondeo 2.0 and hated it.

  • Macbook Users 21 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Just a bit of useful info really.  My hard drive died on my Macbook which is well out of warranty.  Took it into apple on Friday and picked it up yesterday.  They had replaced the hard drive and up graded it from 60 gigabyte to 160 gigabyte plus  replaced the casing as it was a bit scruffy!
  • Snow - Essential journeys only Vol 2. [Read only] 8 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I've just seen someone driving a Ferrari F430 in the lovely weather we are currently experiencing. Even braver he was joining the bypass which had a surface of frozen slush - hairy to drive on in the Aygo, heaven knows what it's like all that power going through the rear wheels.
  • Mazda 626 (1997 - 1999) - Wheelspin causes wheel to bang/judder 30 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I happened to spin my front wheels accidently in the rain when exiting a side turning and apart from going nowhere the driving wheels were just banging?? and felt terrible. The whole car shook and it felt like something was broken. I have checked everything seems ok and the car drives fine. Any ideas? Could one of my wheels be buckled, seems strange as the ride is fine?
  • Hyundai Santa Fe II (2006 - ) - HJ Road Test 16 Nov 2009 (Forum)
The written and video road tests seem to tell me everything I need to know about the car and it ticks all the right boxes for me. A friend has the 2006 version and is very happy, although given his level of extra urban driving I am surprised at the comparatively poor level of fuel economy he gets. Given the amount of urban driving I do, I would really like to know the urban fuel consumption, not just the combined figure.
