  This stops after a few seconds, but the car continues to idle loudly with a GRRRRRRRR noise. This later dies down after some driving. Since yesterday, I have also noticed grey/white smoke from the exhaust on cold starts. Hitting the accelerator generates a puff of smoke. This also goes away after some highway driving. This can certainly not be normal, why would the car do it all of a sudden now after the turbo replacement...this started within 100miles of driving after new turbo.

  Went to a garage nearby in SW London and the mechanic told me that it has a broken valve inside the engine and the repair will easily cost over £1000 because it's a big job. The oil pressure light was coming up on the dashboard while I was driving so after a couple of checks and repairs he finally found out that the engine misfires and the broken valve is the cause. If I drive the car for more than 20-30 min the oil pressure and engine lights will come up again.

  I need to use this car due to back problems (our alternative is a lower vehicle which makes my back seize after long drives).  Where do I stand in this situation? I had been unable to argue in relation to CRA or suchlike as I was told there had been no issue? - Is this now something I can comment on as I get anxious any time I need to drive the vehicle either in busy towns and cities or during rush hour.

  Engine runs perfect on idle position and there is no fault codes. The issue comes when I am driving and I change gears. After I release the clutch pedal and the gear is engaged, acceleration is intermittent and comes "in waves" for the first 2 seconds. Is like engine need need time to accommodate with the new gear until it stabilises and then acceleration and driving is nice and smooth until I change gear again.

  This results in overcorrecting and again this has to be corrected  in the opposite direction to get back on line. This results in a zig-zag form of driving, uncomfortable to passengers etc. and disconcerting to the driver. I have been driving for 40 odd years, cars and vans of all sizes and makes, never had this before. Any one else experienced this with the new shape i30 ?.

  Hello, I'm about to buy my first car and I'm completely clueless when it comes to the whole used car buying process! I quite like the Hyundai Tucson 1.6 GDi Blue Drive SE Nav 5dr 2WD (petrol, manual), 2017 model. I've seen some advertised for approx £17,300 with 7,000-10,000 miles, reversing camera and heated front seats etc. Example in link below. I'm just wondering what price I should aim to strike a hard bargain on?

  A stupid boy who drove without insurance, failed to hand in my license and had numerous court dates to which I never turned up. I was a tear away. This all went on till about 10 years ago when I just stopped driving. I was, at the time, probably driving without a license as the courts had probably banned me in my absence. Time has moved on and I would like to get driving again (legally this time). Clearly I regret acting the way I did as a youngster.

• Ford Focus 2013 - 17" v 18" alloys. 12 Jul 2015 (Forum)
   The rental car had done similar miles, same model year, same engine, basically the same car (Zetec S -v- our titanium) driving on same roads, same driving style. There is one major difference however, my own car has the optional 18" alloys fitted, the Zetec S had 17" std Zetec S wheels. And what a difference 17" rubber makes.

  I took delivery of a new Mercedes SLK on a two year lease from Mercedes in early september, for whatever reason driving the car has caused a back problem which hasnt bothered me in many years to return. Driving the car is vertually impossible as after four or five miles I am in so much pain I have to stop. At first I didnt realise it was the car which was causing the problem, however driving most other cars has no effect on my back at all, therefore I am unfortunatly having to come to conclution that the car is the cause, my doctor and physio are also in agreement.

  I am not sure however when is a good time to get the discounts - would the dealers be discounting it already now (the formal announcement is not made yet) or after it's formally released? Drive the deal site offers a nearly £5K discount off the £25K Titanium list price. Also looked at a nearly new one with the 13 reg, price is £18K with the 5K mileage. We are in central London, plan to hold the car and use it mainly in the city driving mode, so a bit worried about getting a diesel due to the particle filter etc issues of diesels in such environment.
