What car do you recommend for use in hilly terrain?

I am a 57-year old female and I need to change the family car in the very near future. At present I drive a 56-reg Nissan Micra C+C, which I like driving and I have enjoyed having a convertible. The new car needs to have four doors, be efficient both in term of fuel consumption and running costs, and have a boot large enough to hold golf clubs. We tend to do approx 15,000 miles per year and the car needs to be able to cope with hills and adverse weather conditions. Our budget is between £10,000 - £15,000 for a new or one-year-old car. What do you suggest?

A year old Toyota Urban Cruiser 1.4 D-4D 4WD or a Suzuki SX4 1.6i 4WD.

Reasonably spacious five-seater with a decent boot, strong and economical diesel, tidy handling in 4WD.
Chunky and quirky looks. A rare sight on UK roads. 1.4 D-4D AWD surprisingly enjoyable to drive.
