Toyota Auris - Manufacture`s extended warranty 1 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I would appreciate your views on the following. I have just bought a Toyota Auris and there is 10mths of the manufacture`s warranty to run. I have been offered a `2 for 1` entended manufacture`s warranty. This is for 2 years and costs £516. I can defer this until the next service. I have just got burned with a previous warranty and am only considering this because the warranty is being issued by Toyota. -
ford focus tdci - Garage made my ford focus worse. 11 Mar 2016 (Forum)
either way they said I will have to pay for it. I am a little peeved as the car was running fine before I took it in, and the repair cost is more than the value of the car. They say that the work they have done has not created the problem. Do I have a leg to stand on as a friend of mine said you may have to pay to have the car checked by a third party to see if it is a problem they have created, but can be hard to prove either way. -
Renualt Megane Scenic 53 plate, - lights dimming and going on and off 10 Mar 2016 (Forum)
There doesn't appear to be any noise assocuated with this happening and it's not affeecting my interior light or my indicators. The car does sound like it's engine is running high all the time though. Especially noticeable when I first start it up. Sometimes when I try to start it, it just makes a screeching sound but often starts ok on the 2nd or 3rd go. Don't know if this is related??? -
Vauxhall Zafira 2012 1.6 - Zafira Madness 27 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Our local garage replaced the engine with a second-hand Astra SRI engine that we were told was compatible for our Zafira. The car now runs but has almost no power and the manifold gets red hot after a few minutes. We have taken it to 3 different garages including a Vauxhall dealer, however none of them can tell us the problem, the ECU has been tested and come back fine. -
Volkswaagen/ Polo 1.4 Twist 2004 - Oil pressure warning light 19 Feb 2016 (Forum)
MAP sensor, crankshaft sensor , oil pressure and oil filter all replaced Current status, difficult to start and oil pressure light and exhaust gas warning light on with engine running. EPC and electro-hydraulic power assisted steering lights on intermittently. Could this be electrical? -
Citroen C3 Picasso. - Full size spare. - Citroen Assist 31 Jan 2016 (Forum)
This is not a problem on the outward journey, but coming home it takes up space urgently required for rioja. Also, I notice that Citroen Assistence does not cover punctures, misfueling, running out of fuel and lockoutsb but I see from their website that Citroen offer to include this cover for an extra £20 a year. I was not offered this by the main dealer, and when I enquired he new nothing about it. -
BMW R80/7 - Importing bike 22 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Hello, I have here in Oman where I work an ex Royal Oman Police BMW R80/7, at some point the engine was replaced with a 750 cc unit consequently the numbers do not match. it is running but I have not tested and insured it for the road here owing to the crazy drivers and accident stats. (I have 3 young kids to think about!) My contract ends shortly and wondering about the UK value and whether it's worth shipping it home to sell. -
Ford Focus 2007 Coupe-Cabriolet cc3 - leaking roof 4 Sep 2015 (Forum)
I loved the shape of the car having a convertable was a bonus everything was ok until it rained heavily one night.when I went to the car there was water running down the front passenger and drivers door and in the back of the car right in the corner of the window and in the middle of the rear windows. Then I could see this has been happening for a while you can see water marks in the plastic and on the leathers seats. -
What to buy??? £3-4k budget 27 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Space wise I don't mind a 2 door car (only have grandkids occasionally) or happy with standard 4/5 doors. I do more around town miles than motorway around 12000 a year. Reasonable running costs and fairly good mpg. My Xtype is doing around 45 miles per gallon and is cheap road tax at £180 for year and good for low insurance. Past cars have been a galaxy, 407, and Z3 so very varied. -
Lost control on roundabout 31 May 2015 (Forum)
Could this be an issue with the car steering? Or the tyres? (Fakes maybe? There are three deep grooves running round the tyres, and side 'slots' which looks rather shallow.) A colleague mentioned leaves on the road caused him to do the same once. I will watch my dashcam video when I can to check my driving, and see anything obvious on the road. -
Dacia Sandero Stepway - problems 21 Jan 2015 (Forum)
The next thing is rain water accumulates in the bottom of the doors, due to the poorly designed bottom window seal, it consists of a felt type strip a fraction below the door, water runs straight through into the door, and now it has collected grit so as the window opens it scapes and scratches as it goes down. It should be a rubber type wiper as most other vehicles. What were they thinking? -
VW Polo 1.2, 53 reg - Compression test results 18 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Hi I've had some probs with my 3-cylinder Polo running rough and using up oil but not leaking oil. I took it to VW who said it soots up one spark plug straight away and needs a new engine because the cylinder's probably gone. I did some research myself and found that sometimes exhaust valves go on these polos and was advised to get a compression test, cylinder leakage test and balance check. -
Citroen Xsara Picasso, 2.0 HDI - 2.0 HDI engine squealing with AC on 7 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Hi all, I hope someone could advise on the following symptom: in the recent cold weather, when starting the car from cold, it runs normally. However, if I switch on the AC, there is a high pitched squealing sound, which gets louder at higher revs. Switching off the AC eliminates the noise. Also, once I have driven the car and the engine is nice and warm, and I switch on the AC, there is no squealing noise, even at higher revs. -
LED or Xenon Headlamps 17 Nov 2014 (Forum)
I note that nanny EU has insisted any car fitted with Xenon headlamps has washers and are self-levelling, but this does not appear to be the case for LED headlamps. I also note that some motoring magazines have run comparative testing for different versions of H7 (or H4, I’m not sure) halogen headlamps, but not included LED or Xenon in their tests. Whilst asking, I know many drivers complain the brightness of poorly aligned Xenon headlamps sometimes blind oncoming drivers, are LED headlamps more friendly towards oncoming traffic? -
VW Golf MK4 110bhp TDi - Possible air in fuel system TDi Golf 26 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Hi all, I let my Golf TDi MK4 TDi 110bhp (AFN code I think) run out of diesel and it hasnt been the same since. I topped it up with fuel and the car struggled to start but it did eventually. However now when the accerlator is pressed down the revs go up very slowly?? -
Renault Clio - Warranty dispute 21 Oct 2014 (Forum)
The owner said he would have a new engine fitted and loaned her a car in the meantime. After a month, she got her car back. He told her to run it in, as it has a new engine, which cost him £3k but she immediately had to return it because the "new" engine leaked oil. He said he would have it fixed and return it. When she got it back it still leaked, so she took it to an independent garage to have a look at it. -
Sony - car radio fitted...not ood 12 Sep 2014 (Forum)
I.E you can only have the radio on with the ignition sitched on. I as told all car radios ar like that now but it could be live wired but that would run the battery down all he time. I was told to sit with the ignition on to listen to the radio...is that a ood idea? I don't think so. I have contacted Mercedes and Sony who both reckon a radio should work in key position one. -
Vauxhall Astra H Estate 1.7 cdti - Fulham Car Auction 3 Sep 2014 (Forum)
I went to car auction in Fulham yesterday. Car arrived in the cue. I should be a normal running car. Everything looked good and sounded good. I did bid an I've won. I've paid, collected keys and to my surprise car won't start. They told me that I can't receive my money back as cars are sold as seen. -
Nissan Pathfinder R51 Aventura - Black smoke 28 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Hi everyone I have a 2008 R51 Aventura with a black smoke problem It has just had four new (yes, NEW) injectors and a suction control valve 200 miles ago. It starts easily and runs well. It is returning aroung 34mpg solo and 27.5mpg with an 1800kg caravan on the hook. It will occasionally cut out shortly after starting up and then takes 20ish turns to re-start, hence the reason for fitting the suction control valve, which hasn't cured the problem. -
Volkswagen Scirocco - VW Scirocco 1.4 TSI 122 2 Aug 2014 (Forum)
I was holding out for Captur 1.2 TCE manual, but it could be some way off and the 'Roc is a very nice vehicle - I'd written it off for too expensive to run until I saw it on real mpg and looked into the insurance group. I'm looking at a 2 year old one with 30k miles and wanted to make sure its not going to hit me with a hefty bill as I want to keep for 3 years really.
