Hi
I've had some probs with my 3-cylinder Polo running rough and using up oil but not leaking oil. I took it to VW who said it soots up one spark plug straight away and needs a new engine because the cylinder's probably gone.
I did some research myself and found that sometimes exhaust valves go on these polos and was advised to get a compression test, cylinder leakage test and balance check. I took it to my local garage and he did a compression check and said there was no loss of compression across the cylinders, which I thought sounds good but he said it still meant there could be a burnt cylinder. I said couldn't it still be the exhaust valves? and he said definitely not. He didn't offer any other tests.
What do you think, anyone?
Cheers!
