Citroen C3 Picasso - Notice of Intended Prosecution - Speeding 10 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I've looked on Google maps to see where the incident took place and can confirm that it must have been a Gatso speed camera that takes a picture of the back of the vehicle, as it is the only speed camera on the road where this alleged offence took place. Now obviously, I can not provide any details as to who owns the vehilce or who was driving the vehicle, because I know nothing about it. -
B1248(Yorks) Heads up - Accident Blackspot 22 Sep 2007 (Forum)
A mobile (unmarked) unit was parked up on Sunday, with what looked remarkably like a large video camera too. I was travelling South, and, it has to be said, was fortunate (along with the BMW en suite to me) that the mobile unit attached to the camera was already engaged having stopped a 4x4 who I had seen earlier driving "vigourously". -
CCTV for car damage 19 May 2007 (Forum)
I came back to find the damage and a note on the windscreen, a scribbled name and a mobile no. and my fears were realised as the no. does not work and I am on TPFT :-/ I can only guess that it happened during the day and he tried to appear honest to any onlookers, but as I intend to scrap the car at the end of the year I am not so angry but this is the 2nd time it has been hit while parked outside my house in 4 yrs and it is a quiet residential road. So before I get a newer car I am seriously thinking of getting some sort of CCTV camera to point onto the road to catch a no. plate next time it happens and I wonder if anyone has done this? Do I need a special camera with say a certain no. of fps to catch a no. plate clearly? and are there any commercially produced systems for this purpose? -

Traffic Police numbers down 16 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Well, in this morning's Telegraph, in an article about drink driving, the comment was made that independent figures out yesterday show thatthe number of traffic Police has declined by one third over the past 8 years as road policing has moved towards camera based enforcement. (I'm quoting from memory, so that's just the gist). Well, this raises a few questions. 1. I thought that we were sold cameras partly on the basis that they would allow the police to spend their time on other issues than speeding. -
Strange incident at Reading 29 Mar 2004 (Forum)
It had lights flashing so it wasn't as if it was parked dangerously but it was an odd place to be. It was a full spec. Omega and had a camera mounted on a black pole on the rear drivers side. It looked like the kind of thing that could be mounted/removed quickly. Came back the other way 30 minutes later and it was still there. Now, the camera I assume was a numberplate recognition device and I assume it was parked in such a way that you could not see it from far away and avoid it but it all seemed highly curious. -
The Speed Camera Thread - Volume 19 16 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Depressed! Why? You might well ask. We've all read and contributed to the erudite discussions between involved, interested and informed drivers on this... -
Vauxhall Corsa D 2012 - I slammed on the brakes to a complete stop due to 5 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I was coming up to a set of traffic lights between 20-30mph and there was a traffic camera. I wasn't close to the line nor far behind and when it changed I slammed on the brakes hard to a complete stop. Did I ruin the brakes by slamming to a complete halt? -

Bikini Bandits 28 Mar 2007 (Forum)
This should I suppose really be in the Speed Camera Threads but it is a new approach to drawing the drivers attention to the speed limits applying to that particular section of the road. Link is to The Register and the link to Bikini Bandits is on the article in question Not posted the link as would gobble up HJs bandiwidth. -
Help - Walter Rohrl film clip 2 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I had and losta video containing a piece of footage of the above rallying legend driving a Quattro. The in car camera was pointed at his feet which were 'dancing' on the pedals and showing his mastery of 'left foot braking'. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to the exact title of the video or a recent title which contains the same clip? -
Clio Reflecting Windscreen 7 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I am looking to buy a radar speed camera detector, but all sites say that they do not work to well with heat reflecting windscreens. I have a Clio with a heat reflecting windscreen but in the middle of the windscreen at the bottom there is a blank area to put parking tickets etc. i.e this area is a different colour. -
Present State of the A303 20 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I am looking to do a healthy motorway speed, probably leaving the M25 at 5pm (I know, but it cannot be helped). Are there roadworks, natural bottlenecks or speed cameras to be aware of? Any info would be of use to me. Thanks Simon -
Further to "Gatso colour" thread below 12 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Anyone who wishes to see what our government has to say about painting speed cameras in bright colours, see here. http://www.number-10.gov.uk/news.asp?NewsId=2447 It seems John Spellar was not informed of the true trial results or he would not be saying these things. Anyone not interested in the subject, please don't read or complain. -
any - Intelligence Test Failed 14 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Driving south on the M6 in Lancashire yesterday. Narrow lanes for bridge repairs, very clear signage, 50mph limit, average speed cameras (visible and signposted). Very obvious reasons for the speed limit. Obvious thing to do as a driver: keep within the speed limit. But the matrix display said that 1036 speeding tickets had been issued in the last week! -
All makes - Car Sales Tricks of the trade 25 Apr 2018 (Forum)
After a recent experience at a Main Dealer when the negotiations approach a stage when the junior sales executive leaves to check a deal with his manager, could the room where the customers are left with their hot coffees be bugged of have a camera microphone consealed in the ceiling ? This could give the sales team a negotiating advantage as they have an insight into what the customers are thinking about the deal. -
Policing By Computer 9 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Looking at my and friends' local papers, apart from drink driving, most of those prosecuted seem to have been caught by camera (speeding, bus lane, etc.) or IT (untaxed, uninsured,etc.). There are a few mobile phone offences that does not reflect the number of people I see driving and using phones (often school run!) or tailgating (which seems ever more frequent and aggressive). -
CCTV enforcement. 22 Jan 2010 (Forum)
As there is never a traffic car when you need one, should traffic trained police officers, (not council jobsworths), use fixed CCTV cameras monitored in a control room to prosecute dangerous driving and other offences. Or does it already happen, and if so who makes the decisions? I don't mean the bus lane or parking minor offences. -
Road works, expect delays M1 J34 + 35 31 May 2009 (Forum)
This will be a 50mph limit and SPECS managed because I have seen them over the last few weeks, erecting the camera units and getting these road works ready. -
Mercedes Benz - Brakes locking up on TV advert 18 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Any comments on Channel 4 advert, usually shown in evenings, where a Merc is following a Range Rover, cuts across the camera car, brakes hard on leaving the motorway and leaves great long streaks of rubber on the motorway as a result? I would have thought that if MBs have anti lock brakes, such a situation would not occur?
