• Skoda Octavia / VW Golf - VAG 1.9 PD engines and no DPF 2 Oct 2013 (Forum)
  So I have opened my membership to this fine establishment with the question : Are all cars, even those of 2008 & 2009 registration, with a VAG 1.9PD engine built without a DPF? Many thanks in advance for your wise counsel!

  Drove home yesterday all was well, drove to work this morning all ok, went out at lunch and the DPF light was on solid, so went up the motorway and back down about half hour in all, DPF still on. So decided to go for a longer run on motorway, set off and TSC and Engine Check lights came back on so i now have all 3 on again.

  Hello all, I am down in OZ As I see many people with DPF issues in UK forums, I thought I would share! My pain. I was just advised that my DPF has gone to God and Mazda service have advised that I need to give them $8000.00 AU to have it rectified.

  Hi there and hello to everyone I've owned this focus for 1 week bought from the auctions 63k but unknown to me blown turbo sourced a recon turbo from eBay and fitted all ok now however on reading forums after forumi am now scared to use the car (paranoid) sorry I didn't mention it's a 06 plate now the guy that fitted the turbo also he flushed the engine for me knows his cars however driving the car home I put my foot down and it blew a pipe from the back of the turbo like a whistling noise coming form the engine so returned to the fitter whom said he has ran a diagnostic check and it's saying that the dpf is blocked or needs replacing heathen replaced the blown off pipe and I drove It home with no problems then took it for a mot passed with flying colours even with the emissions which I thought it would have failed cause of the blocked dpf he said to me the turbo is getting hot cause the dpf is blocked and the air have got to go somewhere that's why the turbo is getting hon and it won't be long it will be blown again I really like this car but can anybody advise me please please thanks in advance sorry about the spelling

  Hello all The dreaded DPF light and message came on today on the Tiguan 14 plate - 65k miles. I'll try the Italian tune up, but I don't expect results from that, as I try and do that every so often anyway. What's the current thinking about the best way to sort it out?

  A short and sweet question about my Dads car- with all the mither about DPFs is there a quick way of telling if a car is fitted with one? Hes got a 2007 318d built in march 2007 ie pre efficient dynamics and all that malarkey and I'm not sure if it has one or not. It doesn't seem to smoke much/at all but I put that down to it being pretty new.

  I think the problem is the DPF wasnt reset after the service which was Mazda said aswell but they said they wont reset it unless i get an oil filter change aswell which will cost £170, rip off. What should I do? Can it be reset from an independant garage?

  Hi, i have posted previously about my mazda 6 & everyone else's DPF or related problems. If you have not already done so you have to get in contact with watchdog even if your claim is resolved. Even people who dont have mazda's but are having the DPF problem. I've been trying as well as another person i am in contact with and there has been absolutley no joy - sending recorded delivery letters, emails, telephone calls.

  Cleaned by chemical spray and a 'Hydrogen clean' performed by a local independent. Error cleared for a few weeks. 3. DPF removed, washed in a 'state of the art DPF cleaning machine the new DCS-20'  Error not cleared, still in limp mode. A large non dealer garage. 4. DPF filter and sensor replaced with new by my local Honda Main Dealer.

   The AA patrol used his tablet thingy to investigate why and he showed me that there was a constant pressure differential between the pre/post DPF pressure sensors no matter what the engine speed was.  He performed an adaptive reset or something on both the DPF and the pressure sensors and the EML was extinguished.  I'm certain his tablet said not to do this unless new parts had been fitted.

   Do I have any legal ground to return the car as 5 times in the garage surely means the car is not reliable and fit for purpose? Would the recommended weekly trips have caused my DPF hose to blow? Also, if this is correct why have Vauxhall build in a feature where the car is alerting you to change gear? Even when I do take the car for these weekly journeys, less that 12hours later and the DPF regeneration warning light is on again.
