  Hi Folks, I have a 53 plate 1.6 focus with 35K miles. Occasionally when i am driving the speedo and rev counter drop to zero and the trip meter and mileage just show dashes. The engine management light comes on. Besides that the car run's fine. anybody know how to fix this annoying Fault!!

  Hi, on our Fiat Ducato LWB 1998 85k on the clock. its started to pull to one side when driving. After going round a roundabout and straightening up, the vehicle is pulling very markedly to the right. After turning a sharp left corner and straightening up, it pulls to the left. Looks like somethings stopping the steering centring after corning.

  Saving of aprox 9k rrp, but real saving about 5k as local dealers will give a 5k discount. It's ready for a right hand drive country. Instead of the 3 year warrnty for uk cars, this has a 2 year from date of reg. So what is the difference? I'm talking about a motorpoint car.

  My brothers 2.7 diesel S type auto. will not start after leaving the battery flat for a long time, everything seems to work but when the key is turned nothing happens (as if you are in Drive and not P or N) any ideas anyone please?

Its been eating me all night - which car is it? I recognise it as a Citroen - but which one? Can anyone tell me and put me out of my misery? Thanks!!

  Does seem a bit worrying. I note that Mr Wilson is engagingly frank about a fairly carp and offhand bit of driving of the sort most of us do sometimes if we are honest enough to admit it. Plod in this case seems to be being a bit heavy-handed. But don't the police fly provocative kites like this sometimes to explore the possibilities of new laws, or even to point up their absurdity and torpedo them?

  Fresh news from mainland China: A drunken driver took off well over the limit, had no driving licence / insurance, crashed into 5 cars and killed 4 people. The highest court in the land has just sentenced him to death. Many folks over there think it's harsh, but not unsurprisingly, the relations of those he killed.

  Query on behalf of son who drives this vehicle in manual form in USA. Has discovered sound as described above which is evident on acceleration & deceleration but not when cruising. Sound changes pitch with speed of car. Revving in neutral does not produce the sound.

  The new Toyota Prius has been getting some very good reviews and was considering one but I have noticed that they have cut the warranty on the Hybrid Synergy Drive system from 100,000 miles and 8 years to 5 years and 60,000 miles do members of the forum think it will have a affect on long term residuals on the car.

  I have never been able to work out why some drive with arms outside of the vehicle doing the roof, even grabbing and holding the roof rack rails or door holding thing. Is it just the, 'Look at me, I'm in a car looking cool' pose, or is there more to it?
• Parking totally on the pavement 3 Jun 2009 (Forum)
  I sometimes park totally on the pavement in front of my house when loading the car - otherwise I have to park 100 yards away. There is a dropped ramp - for wheelchairs and pushchairs no doubt - which means I do not have to drive over non-dropped kerbs. The pavement is wide enough for people to get past with wheelchairs. Somebody told me that parking on the pavement is 3 points. Is it?
• Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 98 2.0 GTI - Accelerator cable adjustment 27 May 2009 (Forum)
  Hello all, Anybody know how to take the slack out of the accelerator cable on these? Mine has a slight bit of "nothing" before the engine starts picking up which makes it a lumpy drive. My 1.8GL picks up as soon as you look at the pedal! Cheers, James
• Mechanical sympathy real and imagined 5 May 2009 (Forum)
  I see mechanical sympathy as consisting essentially in not abusing the car you are driving and being fairly prompt in diagnosing its many foibles and imperfections. Yet there are also apparently intelligent people who imagine that the anal, obsessive habit of pressing the handbrake button when applying the brake and keeping the car externally clean and polished are evidence of 'mechanical sympathy'.

  I am a driving instructor looking to buy a new car, I currently have an 05 plate 1.3CDTI corsa with 84K on the clock, really quite a reliable motor (touch wood LOL) Just wondered if anyone had any experience with other cars?

  Ladies and Gents, I've just discovered the cause of the oily patches on my drive. We have a very slight hole in the bottom of our car's sump. Does anybody know if there is a product on the market that we can use to patch the sump, rather than replacing it ? Thanks.

  Hi All, The normal drive is fine but there is a vibration from about 60 mph on up on highway. I can feel quite strong vibration but sometime disappear viber for short time and go on from 60 mph over. Please advice me to get rid of vebration then I will appreciate.

  Been watching Red Riding on Channel 4. What is the car Sean Bean's character drives in the first episode, set in 1974? It's a big white convertible. I think it's a Peugeot 504 Convertible, but it sounds very throaty and V8 ish. Here's a clip. Lots of rude words, so (hopefully) the link is a cut and paste one.

  Budget is for 1 yr old HSE or Exclusive (and a manual). Won't do much off-road but reliability and drive enjoyment crucial. Reckon on keeping car for 3-4 ys but which better residual. Comments welcome!
