  E270 CDI Under £20k at Auction Today 26 Nov 2004 (News)
  A 55k mile 2001/51 TDI 130 5-speed sold for £9,050, an 80k mile Y reg TDI 130 5-speed bid to £7,750, and a 71k mile 2001/51 TDI 100SE sold for £8,300. MINI fever took hold again with £8,900 bid from the seats for a trader’s 34k mile Y reg red and white Cooper with a/c and half leather. And the symptoms were even worse in the fleet section where a 24k mile 2002/51 dark green and black Cooper with no a/c sold for £9,300.

  Few Bargains at Auction Today 8 Oct 2004 (News)
  A 63k mile 2002/51 reg Audi A6 Avant TDI 130 SE sold for a staggering £12,700. A 5k mile 03 reg MINI One CVT auto with alloys and a/c sold for £10,700. A 78k mile 2000X BMW 330CI sold for £12,300. Even a tatty, independently imported 138k mile unwarranted 94L Honda Prelude made a grand.

  Boxster Sells for £13k at Auction Today 29 Sep 2004 (News)
  A 109k 2001/51 TDI 130 Sport 5-speed sold for a mad £9,050, and the reason can’t have been due for a haircut because the fleet it came from registers mileages with the DVLA. A 69k Y reg 2.0SE Multitronic sold for £9,000. There was more evidence of MINI madness in the form of £12,750 paid for a 723 mile 04 reg Cooper CVT auto. While Beetlemania occurred when someone paid £8,000 for a 58k mile 2002/52 VW Beetle TDI. Yet Monday’s Top Car price of £12,400 for a 56k 02 reg BMW 320dSE Compact looked a bit excessive compared to today’s of £11,300 for a 41k mile 2002/52.

  Very Successful Classic Auction Today 3 Dec 2001 (News)
  A particularly nice 1917 Ford Model T two-seater started low at £3,000 but went on to sell for the estimated £6,600. A 1964 Mini Cooper 1275S, which must have been one of the first 1275s, sold for a huge £7,600. A 1972 Morris Minor Royal Mail van, crashed on its first collection run, then rebuilt and stored ever since with just 70 miles on its clock sold for £7,700.

  The Astra of Bristol's Mark Wyatt has the speed but hasn't quite had the conditions to take a win, whilst also fast and capable of a result are the likes of Bridgwater's Tony Dolley in the 206, Trowdridge's Mark Funnell in the Mini, Melksham's Rob Ballard in the SEAT Leon and Ditcheat's Kevin Bird in the unique BMW 1 series. Bird's son, Charles Hyde-Andrews-Bird, is looking strong in class C in the Fiesta and is Di Claudio's closest rival.

  Many of those cars will feature in the 'fun' 'Open Sports & GTs' race. Minis of the 'Super Mighty' and 'Mighty' variety should provide some 'edge of your seat' type racing. Neil Slark from Salisbury and Bob Bennetts from Stoke Sub Hamdon are neck and neck on points in 7th and 8th in the 'Super Mightys'.

  The Best Dressed award was split between Keith and Sylvia Johnson in the 1964 Daimler 2.5 V8, who had worn 1970s style flares and tie-dye shirts all made by Sylvia throughout the event, and Tristan Beard and Sophia Lingham in the 1961 Morris Mini-Minor (pictured below). The 28 crews covered 1230 miles as they journeyed from Versailles to Biarritz with each day packed with special tests and regularities.

  A 1977 Jaguar XJ12 Coupe, a winner of more than 18 national concours events, achieved a new world record price, selling for £43,875. Raising £12,938 for Prostate Cancer UK, a 1969 Morris Mini Super Deluxe, with a fascinating story and restored by Lancaster Insurance to its former glory, was sold to a very generous buyer in the room.   The Bentley, one of only eight built in this specification and the only known survivor, had been bought back in 1962 by Stuart Wallace who was on the lookout for something a little different. The Bentley had cost him less than half the price of a Mini, but one thing Stuart had not banked on was the cost of running the car – it’s 4½ engine made it expensive to run and as a student, the Bentley was laid up. Rather than simply being put into the garage, the Bentley was taken apart and the parts scattered throughout the house with every item being photographed and logged with some parts being stored in jars of oil.
