  • honda accord 03 wiring lambda sensor 13 Jul 2006 (Forum)
recently bought a honda accord type s on a 52 plate (new shape) at auction, it had the malfunction light indicator on. after honda diagnosed the front lambda sensor and quoted me £350 to replace plus the £62.50 paid for the diagnoses, i got it replaced by my local guy. the light was still on. i got in contact with a chap with all the computer wizardry he said the fault was the lambda sensor was not getting any power. both he and i are searching for how to power the lambda sensor on said vehicle or a wiring diagram.

  • 1999 Astra G - no ECU code! Help.... 23 Jun 2006 (Forum)
The garage plugged in a diagnostic tool to my Astra today to see what was going on with the alarm system. It´s a ´99 1.8 CDX Astra Estate. As far as I could understand the nice German mechanic, his machine required the ECU code unique to the car before he could ´get in´ to the system and start checking stuff.

  • Corsa Single CD Radio (CAR 2005?) 26 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Son's Corsa ran its battery down a few weeks ago (away at university) He came back yesterday and the radio display is showing "Safe" Have tried the process in the book for putting code in (ignition on, radio off, press and hold A/S button) but nothing happens. Have tried disconnecting and re-connecting the battery but is still the same. We have not got as far as putting in a code so have not had any attempts! Have left ignition and radio on for an hour - still no change.

  • BMW for Honda 14 Feb 2006 (Forum)
No leather, but does have autochanger and climate. Looking around, I reckon to put it up for £8750. Sound reasonable? The Accord is a 2000X 2.0 S model, red, with 64k. Friend's father is getting a new company car, gets to offlod this one. It's up for £3k. Good deal? • MINI One or MINI Cooper? 16 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Has anyone any experience of comparing a MINI One with a Cooper? I don't think that we need or can afford the S. Journeys are mainly her driving 5 miles to and from work, plus me borrowing it for some long business trips to keep the mileage under control on the Audi. The question is really - in day-to-day driving, is the extra pace of the Cooper worth it?

I can think of two solutions: 2 new 'high quality' tyres (recommendations please). or Put larger alloys on with new tyres to increase contact patch with road (currenty 15's).
  • Rev an engine before switching off? 12 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Not sure that I entirely agree with HJ?s comment in the DT today, in response to a letter from DS HJ says that one should not rev an engine before switching off because it will leave the cylinders flooded with fuel. However with regard to a modern fuel injected normally aspirated petrol engine the fuel is cut off as soon as the ignition is cut so a few extra revolutions of the engine will leave it with fresh air in the cylinders as opposed to fuel or acidic exhaust gasses.

  • Predecessors & successors 8 Sep 2005 (Forum)
The race is on since forever and the industry is pushing hard, trying to convince everyone that the new model is way better than its predecessor. But is it always a rule of a thumb ? Let?s take a Merc E-class W124, as an example. Nice car... then in ?96 came the W210 (the rusty one, though only at the beginning, BUT still rusty). And the current one, well... Figure it out for yourself...

{This follows on from Volume 1, which can be found here:} http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=32780 DD =================================================================== To add to F1's woes in America, Bernie made a spectacular gaffe live on US TV during the weekend. When asked what he thought of Danica Patrick, who had this year achieved national acclaim by becoming the first female to lead the Indy 500 before finishing fourth, he replied, "Women should be dressed in white, like all domestic appliances" His ready wit has has gone down like a lead balloon in the land of the free.
