Journalism standards 24 Dec 2008 (Forum)
What with all the emphasis placed on performance, alloys & low profile tyres and ruler flat cornering but now I read this on a motoring mags website - 'Meet the C6 Pallas ? a one-off edition of the firm?s distinctive flagship, which revives a name last used on luxury versions of the legendary Sixties? DS.' Now I acknowledge that I'm a Citroen fan and should know such things aren't correct but surely so should someone writing for a motoring mag or his editor come to that. -

Pressure washer fluids 24 Sep 2008 (Forum)
t mind using a general purpose one under the car using the pressure washer and a better product on the bodywork, applied by hand. It?s a new car that hasn?t been washed yet so I want to use good practices from the start. Should I get a coat of wax on as soon as possible? -

What problems are likely to occur if the seat sensor and (side) airbag connectors are disconnected? I assume it would be wise to disarm the the front n/s airbag if this is possible. Will the Airbag control module try to disarm the whole system? pmh -
SEAT Leon II (2005 - ) - New Tyres 24 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, the time has come for some new rubber but the array of options is staggering. Basically the car is a 2006 Leon 2 1.6 running on 225/45/R17's. Can anyone recommend me a good long lasting low noise tyre! I dont mind paying extra for a decent tyre. The ones that the dealer put on when i bought it have barely done 16000km!!! Cheap rubbish is all they are, especially as i dont drive the car hard!!! -
BMW 3-Series E90 (2005 - ) - "Bad" Fuel? 1 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Until this weekend, in the short life of my 325d I have always refuelled with Shell Diesel Extra at one station. I?ve been monitoring the fuel consumption of the car quite carefully and it?s consistently been returning 34.8 mpg actual with 36.7 indicated. Driving past a different Shell station on Saturday I decided to refuel as there was no queue. I filled it with ostensibly the same Diesel Extra. -
Renault Modus (2004 - ) - 04 1.5dci Clutch Slip? 23 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Car accelerates from stop fine and seems to drive normally, however when in 4th or 5th and applying the accelerator the engine speed seems to rise faster then the speed of the car does for a period. Question(s):- . Is this clutch slip? . Could it be a poorly adjusted clutch (e.g. it's not been released fully when the foot is off the pedal)? . Does this car have a DMF and is this an early sign of it's impending failure? -
Radiator bottom hose clips, newish cars. 11 Jun 2008 (Forum)
and what have you used when doing the antifreeze on your current car for the first time? Replacing the bottom hose clip, that is. I know there`s always the jubilee clips, but you would think there would be a more elegant solution. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1998 1.3 Cooling fan not coming on help needed 31 May 2008 (Forum)
Hi I have a ford fiesta 1998 s reg 1.3 encore. The temp keeps going to the L of normal but the fan never kicks in. On motorway doing 60/70 mph the Temp stays in the middle. I know the fan works when powered off the battery. Could it be the relay for the fan that is not working or is there another switch that should kick the fan in. -
Uninsureable for ever? 28 Mar 2008 (Forum)
The cost is well in excess of £10K as it needed the chassis to be realigned, a new near side front passenger door, two new near side wheel and tyres and various minor scratches and dents removed. That also included the hire of an equivalent vehicle (Cayenne S) whilst theirs was off the road. And the culprit? - A Ford KA All because he wasn't looking when he pulled out of junction. The repairs were well over twice, (probably nearer three times) the value of his car. -
The definitive small car from almost 50 years ago 10 Mar 2008 (Forum)
The startling thing to me is that the small size is starting to make them look more modern in concept than today`s offerings. Any thoughts? Regards -
Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 - 2005) - 01 1.6 - error codes 11 Jan 2008 (Forum)
The engine management warning light came on ( constant, not flashing ) during a long hot drive back from S France last summer. No noticable problem though and the garage hooked it up when we had it MOTd , returning the error codes 0136 circuit high voltage 0335 Incorrect RPM signal. No immediate problem, they said, and reset the light. -
Worst at home (static) risk to your car? 27 Dec 2007 (Forum)
`What`s your worst static risk at home to the car and how far are you above sea level?` For me, despite being only 30 Metres above sea level, its the West wind and the risk of bits of cement and roof tiles blowing onto the car. -
Automotive new order - suggestions 10 Dec 2007 (Forum)
If the Backroomers were in charge of updating the Highway Code what extra rule/s would they include ? Mine would be - Upon completion of re-fuelling, immediately move the vehicle to a designated parking space at the filling station prior to going to pay. If it is patently obvious that the vehicle in front of you is about to parallel park, do not drive up to their back bumper and prevent them from doing so. -

In a rush after hitting a kerb on the way to work (burstign a tyre) and went into a local Kwik Fit. Honda Concerto (1989 - 1994) - Cigarette Lighter / Acc Socket 28 Oct 2007 (Forum)
A friend has asked me to buy a solar trickle charger for her M reg Honda Concerto (that does 300 YES 300 mile between MOT,s) This is an attempt to try & extend the battery life/charge. Solar chargers currently available in maplins.co.uk for £24.99. She has told me that the Cigarette Lighter socket only heats up the cigarette lighter when the ignition is on.
