Hyundai Santa Fe 2004 2.7 CDX Petrol Auto - Running a used Santa Fe 2.7 petrol auto 27 Dec 2014 (Forum)
We have got used to its shape and expect to get another 3 years motoring out of her baring any major issues with the Engine or Gearbox. So far its been a cheap 4x4 that we run as a third car and has become the vehicle of choice as its so pleasant to drive. -
Peugeot Boxer Van 2006 (New Shape) - Dual Mass Flywheel causing vehicle vibration 26 Mar 2012 (Forum)
The main dealer was informed of this and they dismissed this saying there is no way the break up of the Dual Mass Flywheel would cause the running problem. I have had another compresion test done and compression is good in all cylinders. the main dealer is still saying that the replacement of the DMF would not rectify the running problem, and certainly not rectify the compression. -
Reanualt Clio 2 - Clio 2 2004 1.2 16v - Rough Running 15 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Fitted coil pack in 10 mins and clio running perfectly so if you have the same issue its well worth a punt for £28.00 before spending loads of cash and a. being ripped off and b. not being told the truth. -
BMW 3-Series E30 (1983 - 1991) - 1989 1990/6 Fuel injection air valve running with 10 Nov 2008 (Forum)
The air valve, on top of the engine and just before the induction manifold, with a small multi-pin plug powering it, is constantly running even when the ignition is switched off. You can hear a faint buzzing noise and when you touch it, it is vibrating gently. If I leave the battery connected between runs, this fault soon flattens the battery. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - fuel system sensors 1 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Our 2003 53 Reg Mondeo TDCI (115bhp) recently cut out just after refuelling. It had run enevenly just before refuelling. The engine would restart but only run for a second or two. The AA did a diagnostic check, which seemed to indicate a fuel pump problem. The patrolman cancelled the fault code & eventually started the engine. -
Rough Running Rover 200 after HGF 29 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I am looking for some advice as to why my car is running rough after the head gasket has been changed. History of events.. Bought the car at 65,000miles with the headgasket having been replaced at 59,000 at a main dealer. The car ran fine for 12 months and up to 92,000 when the car overheated on the A1 on a long run. -
Golf Mk3 - Head Gasket Problem 26 May 2004 (Forum)
I assume that exhaust gas (or air) must be getting into the system, hence the depressed level after running; I have not observed any swollen hoses etc before releasing the pressure. It is possible that some coolant is forced out of the tank during running. I replaced the expansion tank cap, in case this wasn't releasing the pressure built up under normal operation. -
Ford Mondeo - Ford mondeo 2001 tddi cuts out after 8 seconds 19 Nov 2014 (Forum)
I've got a mondeo 2001 tddi - Long story short - I broke down, the car cut out, no fuel, lift pump wasn't running. Cut the wires, Put 12v directly to the lift pump and got it going, bled the pipes and car started fine. Drove it for an hour or so, stopping and starting all the while running the lift pump from the cigarette lighter, (although it seemed to run fine without the pump running). -
Vauxhall Omega 2.6 V6 (51) - Vauxhall Omega 2.6 V6 suddenly running rough 3 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Hi all, I have a Vauxhall Omega 2.6 V6 on a 51 plate and up until last week she was running very sweet. Then a few days ago she would start OK but there was a bit of uneveness in the idling, a bit of splutter even. This cleared though quite quickly after a few revs. Then it became more prolific to the extent the engine management light came on particularly if I accelerate hard to overtake say. -
Vauxhall Astra F - Overheating issue, running out of ideas 9 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Hello all, The wife's Astra (1997, P reg) is overheating and we are stuck for solutions. Having been a cold running engine for all these years, 3 weeks ago out of the blue, just overheated and spat its coolant all over the engine bay. Topped up coolant and it's not lost a drop since, so no leaks. But it's been running really hot ever since. -

Renault - 03 2.2 Diesel Runs on own Oil 12 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I have just had a rather nasty surprise with my Espace 2.2 DCI. The Problem appears to be the engine running on ( ie screaming) its own oil. It ceased initially after a few seconds, then drove normally for approx 500 yards, to then happen again for a few moments then back to normal. Both these times the motor was under light load accelerating. -
Daytime running lights - opinion. 5 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I eventually had to resort to the dipping mirror after having my eyeballs roasted for the umpteenth time by one of these idiots running up behind. I am now firmly of the opinion that these things are more trouble than they're worth. -
Toyota Yaris (1999 - 2005) - 99 1.0 P0172 - Mixture too rich 21 Jul 2009 (Forum)
A few things did make me puzzle. with the engine running, the unplugging of the MAF sensor caused the engine to stop with fault P0110. But when the Lambda sensor was unplugged with the engine running - no fault occurred. Does this sensor only get noticed at certain running times? -
Daewoo Nubira (1997 - 2003) - 98 1.6 Location of coolant temp sensor on 1.6 24 Sep 2008 (Forum)
When the car is running, all is fine. Careful use of clutch minimises the lurching but it catches me out regularly as it's the second car and I don't usually drive it. Strangely SWMBO doesn't see a problem.... As soon as the car has been running for a few minutes, all is fine. -
Honda Civic Coupe/Citroen Xsara Coupe 4 Jan 2007 (Forum)
My sister is just about to sell her MG to downsize on running costs and improve security for her parking issues. Shes quite keen on the Puma, but due to the issues with short cold runs with the 1.7 model ( which is her primary driving ), she will only consider the 1.4/1.6 models which are quite hard to find compared to the 1.7. -
Toyota Yaris - Diesel or petrol 6 May 2022 (Forum)
I would like to go for a larger engine say 1.5 to 1.7. I do approx 100 miles per week, usual split is 1 run of 60 miles plus lots of local runs of 2 to 3 miles each. Is this use better suited to a diesel or petrol car? -
