    A splendid 1962 Series 1 E-Type roadster took the lead at Barons’ sale   at Sandown Park on June 15th. The steel blue machine sold for just   under £52,000, surpassing its estimate. In second place was a fine   2002 Dax 427 (AC Cobra replica), which achieved £33,650, followed by   another Series 1 E-type – this time a 1964 fixed head coupé (£20,130).

    Visions of the future from times past include the 1970 Crompton Leyland Electricar. Styled by Michelottis and based on standard Mini parts it was powered by 24 lead-acid batteries driving two 3.9hp (2.9kW) motors. It had a stop speed of 33mph and a battery life of 40 minutes. Another no reserve car is this right hand drive 1972 FIAT 500L, complete with a 650cc engine upgrade. Reportedly rust-free, it has a recorded mileage of just 33,000.
