Auctions Should Get Interesting Next Week 21 May 2004 (News)
For a start, this rare left hand drive BMW Z8 is entered for Monday’s Top Car sale at BCA Blackbushe. Speculation amongst traders today was it would reach about £50,000, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Generally, the trade is in the doldrums. -
Toyota Prius Avoids Congestion Charging 16 May 2002 (News)
From May 2003, London commuters driving in and out of the centre should be able to save a staggering £1,250 in congestion charges simply by driving a Toyota Prius. Because it's a petrol-electric hybrid it's one of the cleanest 'green' vehicles and will be exempt from the £5 a day charge under London Mayor Ken Livingstone's forthcoming congestion charging scheme. -

The reader's unedited e-mail and my unedited reply are as follows:- David Rudnick ('Road Rage 2nd June) bemoans in the fact that in the UK there's no law against using mobile phones when driving, nor will the UK government consider implementing such a law. About six months ago there was a lot of publicity in both Spanish and German magazines down here in Spain about new EU-wide Laws passed banning the use of mobile phones when driving: I remember examples were given of the fines one would be liable to pay if caught phoning on the move not only in many EU countries but also in former Eastblock countries adjoining the EU. -
Rally legend Miki Biasion heads to Race Retro 7 Feb 2018 (News)
Biasion came to prominence in the early 1980s, winning both the Italian and European Rally Championships in 1983, driving a Lancia 037. He began competing in 1979, in an Opel Kadett GT/E. Miki was later drafted in to play a key role for the works Lancia World Rally Championship team in the mid-1980s as the squad sought to regroup after previous star driver Henri Toivonen's fatal crash. -
Driverless cars will be on British roads by 2021 28 Nov 2017 (News)
. By removing the current legal constraints surrounding how autonomous vehicles can be tested, Hammond hopes the UK will become a global leader in self-driving cars. Hammond's announcement comes after a number of car manufacturers, like Jaguar Land Rover and Ford, began testing driverless cars on public roads. Although, these trials must still have a human in the driving seat in case of emergencies. The government claims that the driverless car industry will be worth £28 billion to the UK economy by 2035, supporting 27,000 jobs. -

As one of 320 examples made, this particular car was supplied new to Prince Salman Bin Saud Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and spent five years in his ownership in Saudi Arabia. -

This latest recall is part of a wider recall of 1.67 million cars worldwide by Toyota, including more than 1 million in Japan alone, most relating to a faulty master brake cylinder. -

Vintage Adventurer record attempt underway 15 Oct 2013 (News)
Vintage Adventurer, 70-year old, Rod Wade, along with his and his co-driver Michael Flanders, have set upon an ambitious world record. The pair are to attempt the 2947 mile coast-to-coast drive across the USA in their 1930 Ford Model A in less than 60 hours. They set off the sandy beach at Ocean Avenue, Staten Island at 00.01am on Columbus Day (Monday 14 October), heading for Venice Beach, California. -

Norman's modern day successor, Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity, at the wheel of the new Jaguar XKR-S, marked the event in style with a series of dramatic demonstration runs up the notorious Goodwood hill. Joining Mike in taking on the hill was ex-Le Mans and BTCC racer Anthony Reid driving an XFR – his enthusiastic driving style won him the TAG Heuer 'Most Spirited Getaway' award. The 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed will see Jaguar take centre stage with a dramatic sculpture being commissioned for the lawn in front of Goodwood House. -
First Ever Skoda to Compete in London to Brighton Run 5 Nov 2010 (News)
The start of the 77th running of the LBVCR, the world's longest running motoring event, takes place on Sunday (7 November) in Hyde Park (07.00-08.30). From there, around 500 cars will make the 60 mile journey to the finish on Madeira Drive on Brighton’s seafront (10.00-16.40).
